cody swinging the sword while ricky's screaming always reminds me of that scene in the museum where zac says something along the lines of 'for context, this is a japanese man watching some white kid use a katana completely wrong' cody truly was meant to ruin ricky's day
And by the end, Ricky and Cody become genuine sword bros. Especially after Cody has the equivalent of a bad draw from the Deck of Many Things and loses everything. He then sold the other swords that he forced the Questing Blade to fuse with and even gave Ricky a moment to clear the air and make amends with the Questing Blade
Zack's (the guy with sky blue shirt) character is the nicest himbo of all time, Murph's (the one with the glasses) character is a man child douche. Zack's character used to be the chosen by a excalibur-like weapon, but now the weapon has chosen Murph's character. Zack's characters is torn between being a good person and having to support someone he despise.
@@triccele Apparently the decision to make the blade go to Murph's character for this whole dynamic was Zac's choice and it was a fucking brilliant one lol
There really is something about the Axford and Oyama character combos! I don't know what it is, but no matter how they write them, the characters they play always seem to compliment each other so well.
For people who don’t know and want some context as to why this is hilarious just outside of the intensity of zack oyama’s face, this is so funny because in season 1 of Unsleeping City, Zack’s character Ricky was impossibly sweet and good natured and nothing bad ever really happened to him. So to see him scream with… genuinely murderous rage is just the absolute funniest thing. Plus it does look like if Zack went even 0.1 % more intense he would have dropped dead from an aneurysm…
I love every season of D20 with this crew and it has some amazing moments. This one for me has to be the single funniest thing in the entire damn series and may be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Also he didn't realize that the Questing Blade was so fickle, so vain, that when Ricky gave it to Dale to fight his way out of heaven to get back to Sophia, the Questing Blade got so pissed at Ricky that it cancelled Ricky's pact with it and chose a new wielder who would appreciate it better (i.e, the goth otaku with the sword collection).
@@deathbykonami5487But in the end, Cody messes up by turning it into Thirsting Blade Dark Excalibur Mega Genesis, and Ricky does help him undo his dangerous, 260 pound mess of a sword-fork 🥰

This is a beautiful example of utilizing your limitations. Gotta play D&D over Zoom because of a worldwide plague? Well, might as well use that Mute function to its fullest extent!
They didn’t use mute here! Emily followed him suit and you can hear her gasping when she casts her spell again. It’s just a combination of good mics and great acting!

Well, basically Ricky the Superman was fully expecting things to go his way like always and an unexpected thing happens and he's upset about it. But because what happened was generally a good thing anyways, he can't complain about it so he confides in his friend.
Ricky gets a bit of a knock to understanding of the paladin dynamic (as a regular paladin deeply felt). He like the super good/lawful that he is decides to allow his feelings to be validated by expressing them without upsetting anyone, then take the change to his paradigm for what it is. No spoilers but for taking this moment in good faith he gets two insanely awesome paladin moments later in the series and one beautiful good person moment.

Spoilers: It felt like brennan kept offering him rad swords (the peasant's blade and Excalibur) and ricky was just like, you know what, I'm more of an axe guy, and took a normal firemans's axe off the wall
Spoilers of course. Ricky(main dude in the video played by Zac Oyama) had a really cool weapon called the questing blade. He gave that weapon to Sophia's(the main dudette in the video played by Emily Axford) late husband Dale. Dale was dead and he was stuck in heaven so he couldn't see his wife anymore, but with the questing blade he was able fight the angels guarding him well enough to get out sometimes so he could go see her. Eventually this arrangement became unsustainable so he gave her the questing blade after their last visit and he went back to heaven for good. Sophia, being a good friend, decided to return the questing blade to its original owner, Ricky, who by now had come to dearly miss it. Ricky was a sweetheart who had always had everything go his way in life, so this was really the first time in his life that something had ever truly bothered him, even though he didn't regret giving it to Dale. Sophia thought it would raise his spirits to get it back and was probably what her husband would have wanted. In between giving the blade away and Dale returning it, the gang met a guy named Cody(played by Brian Murphy, the guy with the glasses making sword swooshing gestures and sounds with his mouth). Cody and Ricky were both paladins, but while Ricky was a shining beacon of light and kindness, Cody was a chainsmoking edge lord who worked at hot topic and collected replica video game swords to swing at random people on the street. Ricky, being the generous soul that he was, tried very hard to like Cody but was unable to do so and while he would never admit it he actually found Cody pretty unbearable. When Sophia returned the questing blade to Ricky it flew out of her hands and into Cody's, declaring him the only one worthy of its power. Cody then proceeded to use it to perform a number of anime attacks and renamed it the "thirsting blade because it thirsts for blood". Ricky in this clip is facing the first real hardship of his entire life and is trying to stay positive and supportive about it, Sophia is dealing with the grief of her husband's passing and hoped that reuniting Ricky with his blade would at least be perhaps the one good thing that could come of it and is struggling to reconcile that with what actually happened instead.
from what i saw in the adventuring parties, theyre in separate rooms and the rooms are probably far away so they dont accidentally get picked up on each other’s mics
Fantasy High was more fun than funny-it was the first time this group tried their chemistry as a consistent D&D group and everyone was still getting used to playing the game together (hence that one training-focused episode). I think this is wayyyy funnier because they already went through three total seasons together (FH 1 and 2 + Unsleeping City 1) which made way for more focus towards their characters’ development than how they worked through combat. This is also why I think this scene is much more comedically effective not only for Zac, but for Ricky (his character), as well. Hoping you gave this series a chance since this comment!

Ricky having his first real challenge in life is one of the funniest bits in the show.
It's the 144p of only Zack's camera that makes this moment truly wonderful and gets the giggles from me.
