Bluetooth is a pain in the ass especially with outside lights. You also can't set schedules, timers or other automation. You can access the API via the hub if you want to run some custom scripts. You can also add smart switches and sensors with the hub.
How do I keep front door Philips hue lights from bedroom lights as when I say to Alexa on my sonos beam it's turning all lights on including Front door light. Do I need another hue bridge just for outdoor lights ?
it's amazing that you can control the lights from anywhere, but I still don't see the use case. Why would someone need to turn the lights on remotely (unless it's to deter theft when you're away from home)? I"d just turn on the lights when I walk into a room can someone share their use cases?
For me it would be placing the lights on when out or away. Sometimes when at home we turn them on remotely as they can be seen from the garden and creates a nice ambiance.
A Philips Hue Bridge is a device that allows users to control their Philips Hue lights from a single central hub. It connects to an Internet-connected router and acts as the 'brain' of the system, enabling users to access and configure their lights from anywhere in the world.
"Control Your Home Lighting From Anywhere" What does this really mean? A simple question- Can I switch on/off the light via my phone (app) if I am away from my home and my phone is connected to internet but not to the same network available at my home?
Want to buy a Philips Hue Bridge - amzn.to/36kepTo
Great Philips ad!
Seems weird to require a wired connection. Is there some reason that it wouldn't work over WiFi?
What is the benefit? Why not just use bluetooth?
That’s what I’m saying
because its a pain to wait each time for the bluetooth connection and the light setting does not safe itself if its off

When you are away from the house does your Bluetooth reach miles away?

Do you need to keep the LAN cable connected all the time for it to work or can you remove it after set up?
needs to be connected at all times

Yes you can control them even when you are not connected to the same network as long as you enable that feature in the settings
When I go to connect my hue it says “no homes detected” but in my app it says it’s connected to my network? How would I fix?
Do u need this, or do I only need the sync box if I just want interactive lights with what’s on my screen

No Hue Bridge Found.
Waste of money lol
Why you think that?
I bought it becuase it said I should have one. All of my lights work okay. The bridge doesn't even work.
