- Summary of events in the MAP: The ThunderClan warrior Moonflower was killed by WindClan’s medicine cat Hawkheart during a battle. Hawkheart killed Moonflower because she went after the clan’s medicine store. Moonflower went after the medicine store because her brother Goosefeather (ThunderClan’s medicine cat) told her that StarClan wanted her to.
This MAP imagines that, after her death, Moonflower is upset with Hawkheart, believing him to have killed her unnecessarily. Hawkheart maintains that Moonflower deserved to die for attacking his clan’s medicine supply. The two argue and fight. With neither party willing to budge, there is no victor, and Moonflower returns to StarClan.
If this doesn’t seem like my other MAPs, it’s because I did not create this one. With permission, Riley Ellis and I rehosted this MAP, which was originally written and launched by Spunkeii.
It’s been a year and a half since this MAP launched-time flies! I’m so grateful to have it done and for the long term dedication on the part of the artists, who all did a wonderful job. A special thank you to Ginger for always motivating me and for quickly (and beautifully) completing the last part that was left, allowing this MAP to be completed at long last.
I apologize to anybody that entered the thumbnail contest before we took over the MAP. I tried to get the word out for people to resubmit when I posted the new MAP call, but any entries that were not resubmitted were lost as I neglected to save these files before the original MAP server was deleted.

This is a very interesting concept, I’m not on either side of this because while Moonflower did raid WindClans stocks, she was only acting on Pinestar’s orders. While Hawkheart was protecting his Clan, he may have gone a little overboard in the fight. Overall I think the real victims are Bluepaw and Snowpaw in this situation.

this fandom is in desperate need of more hawkheart content!!! especially more content out there that shines some light on hawkheart’s perspective. he’s constantly painted as the villain, yet when you really think about it- what moonflower did was seriously awful. starclan’s wishes or not. she attempted to completely demolish windclan’s medicine cat den knowing it would be incredibly difficult for them to replenish their supplies. those herbs she destroyed were not only needed for the clan’s warriors who had been injured in the raid upon their home, but the elders, queens, and kits too. moonflower knew she was putting innocent cats at risk. she shouldn’t have lost her life, but i don’t think the fandom is right to depict her as a saint.
Well, technically Hawkheart is in the wrong because one, he is a medicine cat and two, Moonflower was technically ordered by her leader to do that and in the warrior code it states that the leader’s word is the code so Hawkheart deserves to live in the Dark forest for all eternity!

I love how this one is not from either perspective entirely and switches. The song is a bad person talking about someone they don’t like, so it makes sense.
Moonflower was generally a good cat except for two things in my mind, how she treated her brother goosefeather and how she followed pinestars orders in the end and didn’t try to think for herself on the morals of that action ( mind you I haven’t read bluestars super edition.)
And I like hawkhearts character, from both bluepaw and pinestars perspectives of which we experienced he’s not a good guy. But he was putting the lives of his clanmates above an intruding cat who was destroying his medicine supply so he’s not in the wrong.
I love how this map was framed excellent job on both the host and animators part.
But he still broke the code. And HE did murder someone I don’t think it’s not fair because He shouldn’t murder cats unless it’s to cats directly he should’ve let her off with a warning bite -.-
@@Kheluichollow I believe it was a situation where killing the enemy was necessary. The medicine supply is an integral part of the safety of a clan. By ruining it moonflower caused windclan to be vulnerable to infection and simply bleeding out if another clan attacked them. If sickness broke out he would not be properly prepared. I believe revenge was justified on the cat who did such a horrible thing to his clan.

@@Kheluichollow it want the morality of the action for me, it’s just that it was done. And it’s a fact that moonflower destroyed the medicine supply that windclan relys on. He wasn’t a kind cat definitely, but I don’t blame him for finding that action necessary. Warrior society is not like ours, this wasn’t a pre-thought out attack. He was acting on the events in front of him. It’s not good that a cat ended up dead but I just can’t call hawkheart evil.

YESS, I actually have not read bluestars prophecy but I know about his character and some about him. I love the idea of a evil medicine cat and one like him
Although I may not like that he killed Moonflower it is justified to why, I do like his character in Tallstars Revenge of what u do see of him
Oh my god I love this so much. Using them arguing as framing device is GOLD, and Hawkheart's entire shtick makes me so happy, from the hair flower to him putting it back on after Moonflower knocks it off and then angrily ripping it off again as a callback to his warrior roots and what he'd really like to be doing. Them angrily trying to convince each other was so great, and having it as an argument really showcases the emotion of the song in a way that's just way less satisfying when it's a one sided beatdown. Love how they both still think they're right-- and how with what happened the books, killing someone is wrong but also destroying medicine kills people, and Hawkheart is rightfully upset because he's the medicine cat and those were lifesaving herbs, and Moonflower is rightfully upset with being murdered. Love Hawkheart's design as well.
I love how this doesnt make anyone seem like the victim or the villain. It makes theem seem both flawed and confused. Hawkheart was right in protecting his clan but shouldn't have killed her and instead just let her go with a few scars, and Moonflower shouldn't have tried to destroy the herb supply but she was acting in Pinestar and Goosefeather's orders for what they believed was for the good of their clan. I just love the concept, the script and the designs with all my heart and it shows no winner or loser, instead it just tells us theyre both as bad as the other and that the real victims were the rest of windclan and thunderclan, specifically bluepaw and snowpaw.
I think honestly, moonflower should have been injured at least. She was trying to destroy the medicine supply of Windclan, I think it's justified.
I see a bunch of people saying "Hawkheart should've given Moonflower a warning" or "he could've just gathered new herbs" or even the " he could've asked the other Clans for help". I've even seen "Moonflower had kits, so he shouldn't've killed her".
1) A warning? She'd already ruined the herbs. A warning would be "If you touch those herbs, I will shred you to pieces". It was too late for a warning.
2) It was late leaf-fall. There ARE NO HERBS LEFT to gather.
3) Why should Hawkheart be forced to ask for help because of something that shouldn't've happened? Additionally, there's no guarantee that the other Clans would help anyway.
4) Moonflower shouldn't've have gone to the fight then, if she was so worried that she'd die. She could've asked Pinestar to keep her and her kits out of it. She didn't. And I can spin this argument around by saying Hawkheart had a lot more cats depending on him them Moonflower did - he had an entire Clan depending on him to fight sickness. You'd think that after this past year, more people would understand the importance of medicine when combatting illness.
Now, I'm not saying Moonflower is wholly at fault, either. The blame sits on Goosefeather, who freaked the entire camp out with his prophecy, and Pinestar, who let himself be bullied into an unjust battle. But I can say that my sympathies are more toward Hawkheart. And quite frankly, I don't think he intended to kill her, but he certainly wasn't sorry. After all, for all he knew, she signed his family's death sentence.
Really late with the reply on this one, but I’ve just reread this scene and wanted to point out: He shouldn’t have attacked her at all. When he attacked her she was leaving his den, being pursued by another warrior. Hawkheart had just been ordered by Heatherstar to help the injured after she caught him trying to attack Bluepaw (who was helping another injured apprentice flee). He grappled Moonflower while she was running away from his den and killed her once the damage was already done.

I've said this in the premier but your thumbnail is really nice!
I know I'll probably get flack for this, but Hawkheart was completely justified in killing Moonflower. She was trying to destroy all of his medicine stores, which means that after the battle between the clans, any Windclan cat who survived but was wounded would have been left without treatment and probably died from infection. What Moonflower did was so dishonourable and Hawkheart had a right to defend his medicine for the clan. I can only see people taking Moonflower's side so often was because she was Bluestar's mother but that doesn't justify it.
Defending his clan does not make him a villain.

It could've only taken like 2-3 days to regather herbs that could have atleast stopped the infection and all that.
If he was wise enough, he would've known that and not kill moonflower.
I don't just like her because she is bluestar's mom, she was great warrior/mother. She listened to starclan (i haven't read goosefeather's curse or any of those books) and did what she had to do. Like I said, it would only take a few days to regather the herbs. And if all the medicine cats (not saying they're dumb) were smart, they would've found a way to grow their own herbs like a farmer so they didn't have to go so far to find them.
Yes moonflower maybe didn't do something so good, but neither did hawkheart. He didn't give any mercy or anything like that to moon. Moonflower didn't even try to attack him. He should've been thankful that he was alive instead of his plants.
This is my rant on why im on moonflower's side. But yea, not a fan of hawkheart. But I do see why you would think what you think.
@@_Spirit_00 I don’t think either of them were in the right obviously, but it wasn’t really clear how many herbs were growing in WindClan territory. Herbs don’t grow around that much so it might’ve taken a while to regather, especially rarer but more important herbs such as catmint. Moonflower shouldn’t have destroyed the herb supply and Hawkheart shouldn’t have killed Moonflower. I can’t imagine all of the hard work it must’ve taken to gather and store all of the herbs just to have it destroyed so I understand Hawkheart’s anger, but he shouldn’t have killed her.
I mean, to be a little fair, Moonflower DID believe that she was doing the right thing, she believed that she was defending her clan and following starclans will, though she wasn't completely in the right, she should have realized that no matter what, destroying a herb supply was not the right thing to do. I also understand why Hawkheart attacked her, but he definitely wasn't justified for KILLING her. (P.s. I haven't read Goosefeathers trial and this is also coming from someone who believes that all the villains were somewhat justified in being evil or had good sides bc nothing is separated into black and white)

I didn't know this map was gonna get finished! turned out so great! I reread bluestar's prophecy recently and I found it really funny how much hawkheart makes fun of bluepaw, a child, for being sad that he killed her mom. anyway this rules
honestly i'm on hawkheart's side 100%, if he didn't stop moonflower she would have destroyed windclan's entire herb supply and that is literally a death sentence since they would have no herbs to heal the wounded and injured after the battle, and not to mention if some sort of sickness spread it would wipe every single windclan cat out.
I'm on both sides actually. Thunderclan was being mis guided because Goosfeather thought he got a sign from Starclan if I remember correctly Goosfeather told Moonflower to destroy the medicine supply. She thought what she was doing what had to be done. Both sides are justifiable.
@@vvolfzvae Nah, ThunderClan was not misguided. They were being impulsive and dumb. They were never directly contacted by StarClan and while Goose was their only link to Starclan they still acted without nearly as much consideration. They only had Goosefeather's incredibly wild "sign" to support their motive.
Even then, it was an extremely stupid decision to jump straight into battle because of that sign. Not to mention they tried to doom an entire clan over a fucking shrew.
They could have announced their displeasure with WindClan warriors hunting on their territory and given the clan a warning. Not put an entire clan and their own warriors (and extremely young apprentices) at risk over what could be a small border dispute.
They could have totally handled this more cautiously.
While I do think he could have gotten a little overboard with the fighting (he could have severly wounded her instead of killing her), Hawkheart essencially killed one cat to save his entire clan.

i mean... a life cant be easily replaced like herbs. it was wrong for moon flower to attack the medicine den but then again she should have left with only injuries and not death. herbs can be borrowed from other clans or be found again, but lives cannot be easily borrowed or found.
This was lovely! All the participants did absolutely marvelously, it's nice to see two underrated cats get in the spotlight! My favorite cat had to be hawkheart though, he's just, so bruting for a medicine cat.. And we barely know him! Thank you for re-hosting this, I'm glad I got to see it!
Absolutely love this song, and hawkheart is a beast of a medicine cat. Love that some lesser known characters are getting noticed.
I think the most nostalgic moment that gave my the vibes for this map were 0:30 - 1:15. It was such a gorgeous and delightful moment taht gave the whole animations a better fitting theme. Great job on each participant! Y'all did an extraordinary job and never crease to disappoint us! Just amazingly well done.

I love the concept of this MAP, it is totally unique! Normally people will chose overused characters, but you chose Hawkheart and Moonflower, which is an amazing contrast based on the books! Great job everyone!
Tl;dr: Everyone is in some type of wrong here. (Eveyrone being Pinestar, Moonflower, Goosefeather, and Hawkheart)
I do think that Hawkheart was in the right in the sense that he was defending his herbs that he'd need after the battle that broke out for no reason, but I think killing Moonflower was a bit much. I'm not sure if destroying herbs is technically breaking the warriors code (it might be if I think about it. It'd be indirectly killing cats if Moonflower was successful. So that might be breaking the ”a warrior does not need to kill to win a battle ” part.) but no doubt I'd say Haw heart broke the warrior code if he killed her as soon as he found her at the den without trying to chase her off first. If she put up a fight and didn't back down, even when seriously injured, I'd say he was right to kill her. Moonflower was also in the wrong for even following Pinestar's orders and trying to destroy the herbs WindClan would need after a battle. Pinestar was in the wrong for allowing this battle to happen, and Goosefeather would also be in the wrong for causing his own sister's death and causing a pointless battle.
I love the idea of her in StarClan being angry at him, and both of them constantly bickering. This map shows it so well and was so well done! bravo!

I love the aesthetics!! this is such an interesting bit of the books to think about and i love everything about it!! its so cool to see focus on scenes like this!! Not to mention it came out amazingly. this has to be one of my favourite warriors multi animator projects!
Hawkheart is portrayed as a kind-hearted cat in every single book except Bluestar’s Prophecy. Though he is portrayed as a grumpy old medicine cat in Tallstar’s Revenge.
And since the stories are of course told in that characters perspective. What seemed like sneering to Bluepaw/Fur/Star, could’ve been him growling. Especially since Bluestar has a habit or portraying cats a lot differently than they actually are,
Just like how Tallkit/paw thought he was just the world’s grumpiest man yet Barkpaw saw him as great mentor who simply had a short temper.
Now onto the actually important thing. Hawkheart technically had every right to attack, and possibly kill, Moonflower. For all he knew she could’ve come returned with someone to help her instead.
Some people say he acted like a rogue but technically Thunderclan themselves were acting as rogues, attacking a camp with possibly sick/injured warriors/apprentice, kits, elders, and queens.
Besides he technically is outside of the Warrior code. He’s bound to the medicine cat code. Yes they’re supposed to save lives, but that doesn’t mean they can’t end the lives of terrible cats. In this case those cats would be Thunderclan.
Plus, Moonflower was a REALLY SHITTY cat. She yelled at her brother (Goosefeather, the medicine cat of the clan) because he tried to explain how Stormtail led the badger to him. She even yells at him because he has no basic warrior training or knows how to fight. Yes you’re expecting your brother, a full-blown medicine cat with no training whatsoever, to fight like a level 5 Shadowclan deputy against a badger.
As a kit she called him weird multiple times without any sympathy just because he “talks to himself”. Even when they both were apprentices she still verbally insulted her own brother. When the other kits/apprentices pick on him and call him a cheater during games, she doesn’t even stick up for him, she just agrees with the others.
People only like Moonflower because she’s the mother of Bluestar and Snowfur.
If anything Hawkheart did Thunderclan a huge favour by killing her
I agree with you. While i do believe he shouldn’t have killed her he was only doing what he though was right for his clan. Thunderclan randomly attacked them for no reason in one chapter I think some cats were able to successfully destroy half of the medicine supplies. And moonflower went to destroy the rest. If he simply chased her off who’s to say that she wouldn’t have come back with more warriors to kill hawk heart himself and destroy the herbs. Thindeclan was dead set on destroying the medicine supplies because of goose feathers prophecy. (no hate to Goosefeather I love him) If he didn’t kill her then the innocent cats of Windclan would die of infected wounds and green cough. Would you want innocent cats to die just so one lousy thunder clan she-cat could live

In the book it say she ran out of the den with shredded leaves on her fur. She was able to destroy some of them before she died. It was literally an eye for eye except Moonflower lost an eye while Hawk risked losing his entire clan!

I have to say that I'm on Moonflower's side.
Whether Moonflower was attacking the herbs or not, murder for just that isn't exactly justifiable.
And for the people saying "if she destroyed it more cats would die from the battle" while that might be true,
I still don't believe killing Moonflower was the best option. Scarring/hurting her? Yes, that's all fine because she was attacking the herbs, but
direct murder? I personally don't think you can justify Hawkheart based on something that might have happened, rather than what did.
ALSO, keep in mind here: Hawkheart went directly to murder, a straight slash to the throat, instead of y'know, not aiming for the spot where cats are

I agree! I think that hawkheart is justified in defending his clan but he shouldn’t have killed her. though I mean, I don’t think he totally meant to? I guess we will never know, but I doubt he would have killed a cat. But I guess I can see the opinion that he was irrational in his actions because all he could see was someone trying to destroy the herbs that would save his clan, so, I think they’re both justified in how they acted in theory, but hawkheart definitely shouldn’t have killed her
Don’t forget how he continually mocked Bluepaw after he killed her mother! He wasn’t just doing this to protect his clan, he was proud of it too.
For all Hawkheart knew, Moonflower signed his Clan's death sentence when she destroyed the herbs. It was late leaf-fall, so very few herbs could be collected before the winter.
I don't think he intended to kill her, but I think he lost his temper (understandably so), and justified it by thinking that, if any of his cats died because he didn't have the herbs to take care of them, it was justice.
Additionally, Hawkheart called her a kit-warrior, and Bluepaw was barely more than a kit. She should not have been there to begin with. He less made fun of her for Moonflower's death and more for the fact that Pinestar thought it was a good idea to bring a baby to battle (and also that Pinestar risked so much on Goosefeather's word).

Okay, new theory:
So, we never find out how Hawkheart died. Is there a possibly a certain gray she-cat with yellow eyes and the name of a flower had something to do with it? It could of looked like an accident! Just imagine this, Hawkheart was out collecting herbs, Moonflower's spirit came and- Oops! She 'accidentally' tripped Hawkheart and he fell down the moor! Oh, and look that! He broke his neck and died! Well, accidents happen! :)
Looks like Moon is going to the Dark Forest for killing a medicine cat which is considered a war crime in the Warriors world
Especially since back then Medicine cats were considered extremely respected beings

I believe both were in the wrong but more Moonflower.
My reasoning?
1: If MoonFlower destroyed the herb supply kits, elders, apprentices, warriors wouldve died. More then just one cat/Moonflower dying.
2: If MoonFlower destroyed the herb supply the death of multiple WindClan cats would be on HER paws.
3: HawkHeart shouldn't have killed her but in the time it was right. Hawkheart put his clan above everything. MoonFlower was the aggressor.
4: HawkHeart was defending his clan. And istg if someone brings up his role I'll be furious. Just because of your role dosent mean anything
5: HawkHeart did bad actions but most were intended to be good.
6: In general it's not eithers fault. Its Goosefeathers(I dont even have to explain, if you read it youd know.)
7: I'm not going to blame either Hawk nor Moon. But instead GooseFeather mostly.
I disagree on the fact that it’s goosefeathers fault. If anything Pinestar is to blame since he was the one who lead the attack in the first place and he was stupid to let his senior warriors pressure him into attacking windclan. He attacked them with little to no evidence and ended up (presumably) killing majority of windclan during leafbare
This is something I would say towards the devil and the enemies I had if I new actual words back then I’ve been haunted since I was a kindergartener who knows for how long ago
Anyways if I could be brave and protect my best friends I’ve been called horrible shit in every school I graduated in and I really get this song and where it’s coming from plus I love the animation keep up the hard work.1:02

Oh man it's so exciting to see this MAP done!! I absolutely loved the colors, designs, and idea from the start, and was really disappointed when the original host turned out to be... well that, but this MAP was given so much love by it's new hosts! Everyone did such a great job and I'm thrilled to be a part of this MAP
