Good tips on the wheels and fitment. The 17" x 9" Cobra R wheels (American Muscle) shod with Nitto 555 in 245/45 17 on my 1989 Spot LX rub on the lower inside area of the front fenders, only when making sharp turns into a driveway. When the time comes for new shoes I'll go to 245/40 17 and hopefully that tire to fender won't be a problem any more.

How to tell if a wheel/tire combo fits: Put the car on jack stands; pull out the springs, then reassemble; bolt the wheel/tire on; jack the rear end up to the bump stops. If the tire rubs anywhere, it doesn't fit. Same with the front except turn the steering wheel full lock in both directions.
