    This is really the only time in my life, that I did not mind watching an advertisement video :) I have learned so much from you Aaron. Thank you for all your great videos. I want to mention one mayor minor indirectly caused by the mini pro. The fact that this is a great "live" machine makes more people doing live broadcasts. And live broadcasts are great for the maker but totally miss the whole reason that I, and many others, watch RUclips instead of regular TV. Recorded and edited videos are much more to the point while live broadcasts are so so long. I have to admit your live broadcasts are often having enough info and speed but even then I leave before the end knowing I will miss some important information. :) I use my Atem mini pro for live broadcast of funerals but mainly to be able to "live-edit" recordings of events to save me huge amounts of editing time afterwards. This means I can offer my recordings for less money and with that creating a larger potential in the budget-market I am in.

    Hi again. You really know this ATEM business and I'm new to live streaming devices. From what I can tell from videos etc, there is no easy way to use an ATEM mini or mini pro to do a smooth live stream to say RUclips of a live Zoom call with good sound and all participants. I see solutions with services who re-stream, and there's a way another ATEM expert uses the Extreme to do it, or with virtual audio cables (which I don't want to screw with my windows sound) some do it straight out of OBS with virtual cameras etc. The two questions I have are related. 1) Is there a simple way to do it that works well with the mini? 2) Why can't one just grab the signal coming out of the laptop HDMI that goes to a monitor per se, and feed that into an ATEM mini as one of the HDMI sources, a source that contains the Zoom call, and then stream from the mini pro for example using that HDMI signal and anything else that one wants to provide through the mini?
    Would that work? I have so much audio hardware and stuff, and now I have a use case to do some streaming of Zoom calls and I don't want to just start buying ATEM devices before I know I can do it. Thanks very much!! Sorry for the long message..

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  2 года назад +1

      You're on the right track, you can definitely connect an HDMI cable from your computer to the ATEM Mini and your computer will see it as a monitor, so you'll probably want to mirror your displays for that. You'll have a bit of a challenge with audio though since you'll need to send the audio from zoom to both the HDMI out, but you'll need a separate audio input to zoom otherwise you'll have bad feedback. There's also the problem that just streaming the zoom screen doesn't look super great to an external audience later, which is why you often see people publish zoom events from the zoom recording itself instead of this way. If you want to get into some more advanced stuff check out ZoomISO, it has some really powerful features but might take a bit to learn.

      @@aaronpk So it can't be done with just hardware like buying one of the Extreme ATEM boxes, or using 2 computers, to get around the audio issues? Again, to present a nice live stream of a Zoom call with high quality camera video etc? I started to read about the Zoom ISO but I'm not sure how deep I want to dig to make this happen. Maybe another video conferencing platform is easier to take into a box like an ATEM and produce high quality output for streaming with good sound, bells and whistles that ATEM provides etc. I'm a stinker, because I tend to see a technology that's sort of new and often have a use case that's not easily ironed out. I was casting my phone to TV 20 years ago using crazy dongles made in China that had too little resources to work well, but I wanted that technology years before Google or Amazon came around with it.

    A very useful summary indeed. Very frustrating that on the Pro and ISO there is no separate clean programme out over HDMI for high quality master recording as the streamed copy will have to be low quality if the upstream bandwidth is poor. I realise on the ISO you can re-render a proper master from the ISO files but a slight nuisance to have to.

    Happy New Year, and thank you for this video.
    Despite the wonderfull features of the Atem Mini line, I'm also considering the Roland V-01HD+ (the successor of Rolands V-01HD) Amazon is selling this at arround €1000,-.
    Price wise close to the Atem Pro Iso.
    It doesn't have the option to livestream directly, nor does it have the option to record 5 tracks. Though I have the impression Roland implemented some of your wishes you like to be added to a next Atem Mini: XLR inputs &
    2nd HDMI output.
    Therefore looking forward to your comment or more preferrable a comparison video.
    Especially as I get confused regarding the signifcance regarding 8-bit vs. 10-bit video processing. Maybe less important for livestreaming, but for recording perhaps more significant.

    And the one limitation that you didn't point out is that all three of these devices have only a single upstream key generator, so you can have PIP or green screen, but not both at the same time. I wound up overcoming this issue by cascading a base ATEM Mini into a second ATEM Mini (Pro), using the first as a camera feed (with a green screen feature for that feed) to the second. Then the second ATEM Mini provided the needed PIP function.
