I use a Magic Eraser pad, keeping it wet, lightly go in circular motions. Then wash with Dawn. Dry well, then apply 302 and buff with a terry cloth towel. It took a long time to find my Old Town Pack, so I try to take care of it. Rule one with Royalex ; do not store it in the sun, or outside when really hot. It will deform. Enjoy your Penobscot! Thanks, going forward I’ll try that now I have all the serious grunge gone. I store mine hanging upside down in my garage
