i love your rc content
I haven't raced RC cars in 20 years but after watching your vids I kinda want to get back in again. I need to stop watching but I can't lol Great vids, lots of good info, keep up the great work!
Dude...whoa...Crocs?
I cant believe there isn't a covered off road 1/8 scale track in South Florida. Rain rain rain
Thank information friend 👍🙏
It always cracks me up when people try to break down their driving. "Idk bro i just drive it" is what i feel like they always want to say.
I just love this series and this is one of the best parts yet. I mean how many beginners ask themsemselves: Is it OK to feel like completely stopping before a 180? Is it OK to not jam on the brakes on at all in a wide sweeper? How important is a good landing before a corner? This video answers it all. Great job, thumbs up! Greetings from Germany
"little bit much sketchier" accurately describes my driving style lol. remember kids smooth is fast!
Hey Ryan, great video. I would love to see a second camera mounted to the transmitter showing the throttle/brake and steering inputs on the LCD screen while a pro like Lee does several laps. You can put the second video in the bottom corner showing the LCD screen while the primary camera is the typical head mount tracking the buggy...that would be so helpful! Oh and his ESC configurations too ;-). BTW, I talked to you at Thunder Alley in NC a couple of weeks go. Thanks so much for stopping by!
How about a video, "A lap with _____ (insert pro's name)" where you follow a pro racer taking several laps at a local track and he discusses how he uses throttle, brake and steering to get around the course then puts it all together lap after lap? Similar to this but for an entire lap 👍 Maybe some setups tips as well.
This!!!!!
Is!!!
It
Baby!
Great stuff, Ryan. Carrying speed through a corner is what separates pros from the rest of us…
Setup becomes critical... tires/suspension will have major effect on how effectively you can break and control around a 180... I'd LOVE to see a similar video similar to this, but integrate some setup decisions to enable the driver's style... in ebuggy... I tend to have a loose rear end and I'm still learning to correct that... keep doing these, please!!!
Yes I 2nd this. How also to set up or what set up for pers say the 22 5.0 WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE IT FOR CARPET (PARTS NEEDED) and for dirt . I have the 22 sr and just got baxk in to racing. I will be racing carpet cause its close and will do dirt also but i have no idea whats needed to make am sr" 22 5.0 to be compatible for carpet. Plz and tnx Ryan
I agree as well.
@@j-1lokes294 tnx broaa
Agreed
I'm new to racing and really appreciate this. Thank you!
I’m kinda new to the on road side of racing and what I’ve been told by fast guys is you want to go wide into a corner and tight out of the corner.
Ryan Watching your videos inspires me .hence why I went full tlr 2 and 4wd offroad 1/10 scale
Ryan, this kind of tutorial is awesome. Very helpful. Thank you.
As asked. Would love to see a detailed video on jumps. Setup, take off, "flying the car" (adjusting car for landing ramp), and landing. Great video keep up great racing content. Learning is neverending in this hobby!! Thanks Ryan
Love these driving lesson videos thank you!!
As a racing noob, loving this series! Cheers Ryan👍🏻
Yo put these all in playlist 🙏
I can see how the chassis slap would be a negative effect. So you’d definitely need to know how to approach into the jump. That’s some damn hard driving! So entertaining to watch!! Thanks to Lee, and Ryan, a very interesting Video! 👍
Awesome video! Keep them coming. Being humble will take lee far.
Nice one! Thanks a lot
As always Ryan, great tips! Keep it up.. thanks!
Great video! Lee is an all around great guy looking forward to seeing you both at the Adrenaline RC Invitational next month!
As always thank you great idea for a vid.
I like the respect
Great video Ryan and lee. Thanks, keep it up ryan, enjoy all your videos,
Thanks for this, perfect timing! There is a difficult hairpin that was added to our local tracks layout recently and these tips were perfect and helped me get that section down much better than I was. Glad I didn't wait until after the weekend was over to watch the video (which was likely) and I found time to watch it the night before.
great vid again :) could not explain and break it down better . THX .
Thanks very much Lee and Ryan, this was an awesome video! Hopefully there’s more to come like it. This knowledge is really what new guys are really thirsty for.
Great video Ryan. Fantastic content. Thanks for posting.
I really liked this!
Love these, keep up the great work! 👍
I bet this would be a pretty funny edit or B real. Lee was trying hard to get you at the end hahahah. I wanna see the outtakes of this one lll
The internet just doesn't have enough storage space for the amount of out takes in this one lol
That's awesome. It was that much fun!
Would love to see some radio setup, how much steering is in the car etc
Great Video.. Keep em coming. maybe some diagnosis and fix to set up problems. Like Steering , too much or not enough . Or loose rear end. Would also like someone to really explain droop and when to use less and why
the strategy when you blow the line... ugh... seems obvious... but so helpful...
More!!! Just more driving tips like this. Focus on exciting, rhythm sections, passing, making room for father drivers, racing etiquette from a pros perspective, scrubbing, hard braking after large jump to make corner.....anything and everything....bring it. Love to hear driving discussed especially from pros and alternate views. Love to here another pro give same lesson.
Would love to see some of this stuff for 1/8 scale Ryan! Lee mentioned he is running 1/8 and I know you have one hiding on your shelf!!
Hey man I love your content and your tips. As an idea for future videos I'd like to request how to break out of your class to move up to the next class, or maybe how to get into like an entry level mod class would be a very interesting topic
the jump scrubbing and turning the wheels while in the air to steer the car.
ie; slapping the chassis (car slapping against the ground).
I'm understanding your jargon, im not so sure about others...lol. Hard to not use jargon when that is what you use on a regular basis. just FYI
Side note : nice to see that not every nat a main driver has to have a million dollar sanwa m17 :)
Ryan, tracks with multiple, different jumps - how do the pro drivers seem to consistently hit these with the perfect speed to land on the down ramp and drive away every lap, and not come up short or too long? Thanks for the great content as usual 👍🏻
Great video idea!
@@RyanHarrisRC definitely great video idea waht do you think of the tlr tuned typhon that's coming out worth getting for racing?
@@NoLimitRC87 I will own one. I’m a typhon fan already as my 6s gets bashed beyond hard then grinds laps.
@@Sackmatters I have the typhon 6s I love that thing I've upgraded it all to exb parts but I do want to start getting into the racing side of things
Where were you 2 years ago lol! Nice video cheers
This is good, to improve the explanation, you need to freeze frame the video or use a photo and annotate it with arrows. Then use some Lee's description as a voice over. This would be an even clearer way to explain it. I think it would take your videos to a next level!
It's interesting to see how different you can approach a U-turn in rc probably due to rc beeing very light weight. How much slower would it be to take that U-turn with a classic apex ?. Right position, brake, cut in left, accelerate out wider.
Have you done "Take overs" as a topic?
Kenny would just send it
Like the tips have a huge private track need help ty
Hi Ryan!
sometimes the fastest way is to role in from a wider angle as u can carry more speed
Sometimes! Gotta watch that inside line though... don't want to get passed!
Awesome video! These are some great driving tips! Just wondering, what camera did you use for those slo-mo shots? Also, you may know already that Arrma, have just released a TLR tuned roller. Would love to hear your thoughts on that! Anyway, thanks for posting! 👍
Does Lee run any drag break?
Everyone mentions Dakotah but here’s the fact. He may be the fastest for one lap or even 5 minutes which makes him great in an electric race. But u wanna man up with the big boys and run 45 min to 1 hr, he’s never gonna win because he’s not consistent over the long haul. That’s why Maifield rules the long races. He’s just so so so consistent without crashing. U can count on Dakotah to crash in anything over 8 minutes. Maifield the man!!!
Might want to check your facts.
@@bryanwagner4403 don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the guy but to now that’s been his story. Even the LiveRC announcers say it. Why didn’t he win the 1/10 4wd World title over Bruno Cuello? He crashed with no one near him. Every nitro race u see the same. TQ or close to it then mistakes in the main.
🤔🚗 long time for examples
When your cornering or just on the track in general do you have eyes set right on the rc or a little ahead? Thanks and great videos! Looking forward to following.
BTW I really hope you decide to make the trip for the US Carpet Offroad Championship in Cleveland in December because id love to meet you there
Won't make that one. Only trips I have at the moment are Adrenaline Invitational, Master's of dirt, and Carpet Champs
I would love to see sweeper into a straightaway and straightaway into a sweeper. to lift or not to lift
👍
@ryanharris ANOTHER ONE!! Great vid and tutorial
Do these tips hold true for 2wd Short Course Truck as well?
Lol. I was watching this video and I thought of the same person Dakota phend. He’s very aggressive driver. Too much aggressive can cause you the race.
.
Please start making videos again!
Drink every time he says "Basically"
So when can we expect that rc racing class on skillshare?
Ryan: what are Lee’s and your esc settings for drag brake on 17.5 and/or modified?
I put 0 drag brake in 17.5, for mod (I don't about Lee) I have heard that most put about 10%
Smooth vs pivoting aggression styles of driving hits home with me, I think that can lead to some very good points on passing, blocking, and driver etiquette on the course (future vid?). I tend to race my 1/8 ebuggy smooth and my nitro buggy very “Scandinavian”, but depending on traffic I’ll pick n choose my style to either overtake or possibly defend my position (race line vs hot lap line). I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Great vid!
Would you call this a sport? I think I would! I'd love to see RC racing in the Olympics! 😅
What I want to know is how do pro drivers maintain a consistent pace. When I look at my lap times, I'll have a fast lap maybe a second or two faster than my average lap time but a pro might have less than half a second difference between their fast and average lap times. What makes them so consistent?
Now I’m not a pro but I would assume that they know their line, that’s because they focus on it and make sure they execute it each time.
Do you have advise for oval dirt racing, Traxxas Slashs?
Ryan, you got busted wearing crocs in public buddy...
Thanks great video. Master class! Can you do a jumping in video. Setting up entry to exit of a jump. I always under or over shoot. Thanks
Now let's see him do this with that bad ass wl toys buggy everyone thinks is the shiznit!!!!!! Lmao 🤣
I wanna join the WL Toys race team. The car was only 1 sec a lap off of everyone else’s pace. It’s totally a racecar right?
@@spatulaman2753 yep it sure is lol 😆
oh dear lord lol
@@RyanHarrisRC bahahaha!!!! 🤣🤣
Our current layout has a couple very tight 180s and I actually have traction rolled a few times
Ooo...good point love to hear solutions for that or how to handle and control
It's cool to hear what someone's thinking is and what they're preference is to handling various corners. This video has a ton of very helpful information in it. Can't wait to work on corners next time I hit the track.
Thanks for the videos and tips! New track opened in middle GA, The Barn! These tips should help me stay on track and do the 180° jumper corner better!
I really enjoy these tutorials. Thank you Ryan!
Awesome video, thanks you guys for the tips
I'd love to see a video on aerial control, i see a lot of the fast guys will angle their car mid air (look at 16:58). I am sorta able to do it with my 4wd but 2wd is harder for me to do it
Very informative content. Thank you Ryan.
Great video Ryan. Extremely helpful for beginner and intermediate racers alike.
Keep up the fantastic work!
Ryan another good video I am newer to rc and haven't raced yet so your video's are a great help please keep it up.
Not letting off completely, is a frear tip. (Im a newbie) I wouod really like to learn more about rasio settings and speed controller settings.
I have a Ream associated 2wd buggy. A flysky rasio and Hobbywing XR10 pro G2S
Hey Ryan you should definitely try to make an appearance at hobbytown hobbyplex sometime again! Maybe try to do some lessons
Definitely want to do that!
Maybe it could even be during the carpet season 🤔
Did you change your studio microphone/preamp/gain/editing of audio? Your voice is markedly lower than it has been in the past.
I hear you are coming up my way next month might have to come check you out at Adrenalin RC I used to race years ago thought about getting back in it but I follow you just sayn. I raced carpet oval back in the day things have changed so much batteries and the way radios change freq is way different.
Jumps. It would be sweet if you could do one on taking off and landing. And then one on going through doubles or whoops.
@Ryan Harris How bout a fun race just You Lee and Kenny and ways to practice if we don't have a track near by
What about the esc setup, so much of how the car handles comes from how the esc behaves off throttle as well. The 180 turns are a perfect example, having that perfect trail brake setup plays a huge role. Escs also have modern features which aide in managing how the chassis pitches and moves
More on this would be great
Love it Ryan, thanks for sharing! Lee seems like a great dude!
He's the best!
So far I've seen the first four episodes and am quite pleased. I've been racing locally (local meaning mostly within a 75 mile radius since my closest track is about 40 miles away) for about 14 years now. Sadly, I feel that I've plateaued and am just maintaining. I hope the hints I've observed in these first 4 videos will help. I'll let you know.
BTW, I'm not expecting much. Most of my track time is on carpet or artificial turf with 2WD and 4WD buggy. I do race some dirt with ebuggy and 4WD Short Course. I'm also almost 62, which is a significant challenge all unto itself. 🙂
14:11 nice Crocs, Ryan 😆 excellent pro insight from Lee- a believer that a more consistent aggressive corner strategy will win races (Lord Phend) just more difficult to execute for the average Joe Sixpacks out there
~
Would like to see some pro technique 101 on flying rc track jumps! Keep up the good work from here in NJ 👍
@Ryan Harris and @Lee Setser is it easier to drive a 4wd buggy with these techniques? I don't race I Drive my 1/10 4wd buggy on a all dirt baseball Daimond and put cones out and create and setup my own course/track. Aaron Honolulu,Hawaii
Hi! Could you put links of videos of the two people you quoted as agressive and smooth drivers? or at least their names :)
jumps
Shout out to the MI boys mentioned, Aydin Horne and Dakotah Phend 🤘
