Great video! You have shedded so much light on our qualifications and abilities as teachers. Often times, you are told that you don't qualify for said positions because you don't have experience, however most people do not realize how much we do as educators! I am definitely going to utilize the skills you have shared in this video on my resume to prepare myself for a new career field. Super helpful!

Thank you so much for your feedback, Charisse! I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate it. You worded it perfectly. I had the same thoughts in regards to "not having experience", but soon I realized we teachers have AMPLE experience in regards to the skills that any employer would want in their employees! Who wouldn't want a proactive, disciplined, organized, etc., etc. person working for their company! We even have the desire to learn and adapt! It makes me heart soo happy to know that you feel confident moving forward writing a resume for your next career field!! Best of luck, Charisse! You've got this!

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences. I just resigned from being a middle school art teacher for over 14 years at the same school. The only other jobs I have had were very short - just a couple of months. I was a furniture salesperson for about 2 months and worked at a temp agency for yhe summer (maainly data entry and other administrative assistant tasks) The other job I had was for 3 summers in a row. I worked at a theme park. The first year I worked the rides. The second and third year I worked in the main office doing administrative assistant work - including data entry, answering phones, memorizing radio codes and Maki n g radio calls out to the different ride managers. But again - it was just over 3 seperate summers and it was over 15 years ago. One more thing I did before I got my teaching license was open up a gift shop and sell my own artwork and all that comes with running a business (and BTW I am not a good business owner - luckily my husband is). We did that for about a year and then we had to close the shop because my husband got a different job so we had to move. Again- that was over 15 years ago. Also, I do not want to go back to education and I really don't have many other skills other than teaching. I am very skilled at all types of creating and making art, but I am feom ND and you just cant money as an artist. The whole "starving artist" thing is very real 🙂 I am not good at much else because all I know is teaching and art. And I don't say that out of sadness or frustration, but out of understanding and knowing myself. I am leaving towards secretarial work. I am NOT looking for a job with the ae amount of pressure and stress that goes along with being an educator. I am sure you understand that feeling! I am very sorry for this long, rambling post- I thought it couldn't hurt to reach out since you were so kind and giving in sharing all of this important info with the rest of us. I have been trying to write a resume for a week now and you helped out a lot. I tend to really over think things. . . Obviously😩
So if you have any additional thoughts, tips, suggestions I am more than happy to accept them. Many blessings to you. Keep up the good work!

I want to thank you for providing this video. I am an ESL Teacher abroad and have actually grown a decent business and built a small academy. However, im done. DONE! done. Im ready to go home. I will literally be moving myself and children halfway around the world back to my hometown. I do not want to go back to teaching. I am desperately trying to figure out a way to rebrand myself and move into a new market.
Your resume helps tremendously. Keywords to get my resume seen by an actual human has been a daunting task ive been procrastinating. Youve given me something to go off of. Thank you .
I know if i can get into the interview chair, i can charm them (if i can do it with moody kids...real non hormonal rational ppl....i can charm anyone....haha)
Im done. I want out. But i need someplace to go before i leave my job.
