Northsteel 41 - How to make a boat (steel boat project)

  • Weight: 19 tons - Length: ~14 m - Width:4,2m - Speed: max.9 knots \ normal 7-8knots
    Engine: MB 362 diesel - 135hp (old bus engine modified for marine use)
    Sleeping places for 7, sauna, toilet, electricity, water heating radiators, keel is fillt with ~1 ton of concrete.
    build time 1999-2005, first time on lake 2003
    My dad passed away in 2005, some interior wood panels etc are added afterwards by the new owner...

    I see a wood chimney on the boat. I have a wood fire also in my RV it is a very dry heat .

    What thickness of plate was used?

      Can´t be totally sure but the new owner said 8mm in the magazine it got to. Maybe keel is 8mm and hull 6mm, i was so young when the boat was in the making...

      @Tuju's workboat yeah, 15 years in metal working, looks more like 6mm plates as how the plates bend when lifting.

      @Tuju's workboat nice! Must have tons of stuff inside. What if you take it out from water, do you use trailer? I could imagine that aluminium cant handle the strap lift.
