There were some great southern rock bands, but MTB was the best southern rock band ever.....period. Their diversity was unmatched. All of the players in that band were top notch and you could tell they really loved to play with one another. No one...and I mean NO ONE makes music like this anymore.
Very well said, sir. Thank you.
Couldn’t agree more. They hooked me in high school in 1990 when I first heard them on the radio. Wish I could’ve seen them live in the ‘70’s.
Allman Brothers Band were the greatset southern rock band. MTB were also great.
Let's not forget "The Outlaws". Great guitar work from Hughie and Billy.
I agree with Aladin, but they played different types of music so hard to compare. But those two bands were far and away my favorite "southern rock" bands.
I confess...I am a huge southern rock fan...And I always brushed Marshall ..Never paid much attention to them..But after hearing this song...It brought me to my knees...I am now a MTB lover ...Great stuff
Randy...Welcome to the family!
MTB - who could ask for anything more! MTB gave us so many great songs, it's hard to pick a favorite. I have loved this band from the start. If you never got to see them in concert in the 70's, when both Toy & Tommy were still alive, you missed something truly amazing.
1975 in Oklahoma City
Sure do miss those Caldwell Boys!
Toy, by all who knew him was the real deal. Genuine. So much talent, yet not full of himself like other rockers have proven to be. Described by many as humble, not attention seeking. One cannot find this sort of man today. If I had 1/100 of his talent, it would be a gift I would treasure.
Toy's solo, so simple and yet incredibly soulful. Brings tears to your eyes.
I agtee, he sure knew how to use his thumb playing his guitar.
Love to find a lesson on his solo
Anyone please
Was blessed to be a teenager in the 70s they came to Birmingham yearly never missed a show
That's Doug Gray singing
@Lucky-ez8ji Damn tootin!
I saw them live twice. The first time they were playing in Watsonville Calif. It was my 24th birthday that night. Best present I ever got. They did it all rock, blues, country, even a little jazz. So talented back in the 70's best of times
1975. All us yankee suburban boys walking around in cowboy boots..no, it wasnt cause of john travolta and disco cowboys..was from MT band, outlaws, skynyrd, allmans and Cash, Haggard,
2022 and still can't be touched!!!
One of the best southern rock/fusion bands...Right there with Skynyrd and Allmans...Toy and Tommy both were thumb pickers. So So underrated and forgotten...As good as any lead and Bass players ever..
Love it. This song flows like a river.
Best song ever 'made' IMHO
Thank you lord n thank you MTB
Can never get enough of this song.
Memories from my youth. 67 now with tears flowing. Down in Weslaco, Texas.
God Bless you and rock on for eternity!
Yes same here
God I love this song...brings me back to a special time....
I still play this music daily! They were simply the best among the best! Great songs you can sing to every one of their songs! Love this real music forever!!
I have used Toy's words many times, to get myself out of a jam, works just as good in these Carolina Sandhills as it did in them Dirt track Red Hills did!!
ThanksMTB!!
No regrets. Glad to have grown up with them. 😎
I seen them in the bay area back when fly like an eagle album came out . Outdoor concert late 70,s. Best of recolections. Memory lasting forever.
merica should be embarrassed by so few views on this vidja,it one the best songs ,EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
agreed
Such a great song . The song structure is so great for a G to C. Lead line . Toys lead is awesome . What a band
Definitely an amazing song. My favorite by MTB. Toy was a great song writer and guitar player.
Great song! Doug Gray extending that great voice of his.
Toy Caldwell Y'all, ain't no one better. Best live band I saw among most southern rockers.
DAMMMMMM! just DAMMMMM ....Mercy that's good "STUFF"
My favorite. So personal and uplifting.❤😊
A group of us used to stand outside of their practice house on Spring street behind the Ruins Club in Spartanburg S.C and listen to the band rehearse when they were the Toy Factory and later the Marshall Tucker Band. Good times in the early 70s.
Now this is a incredible experience with my MTB boys.. incredible song ❤️💋I am so happy to have such great friends in my life.. These guys are my favorite people
Spartanburg’s finest
I Absolutely Love the Rhythm!
After I played this song to my sweetheart she finally understood what she meant to me even when it seemed I wasn't like white on rice with her.......all the time.
.
Tommy played the bass with his thumb too
My moist favorite song out of any band anywhere....2nd comes Kashmir of course by Led Zeppilin
That's sooo funny same exact for me too!!❤❤❤ they call me Kashmir but YES to this and Tucker ❤❤❤❤❤
Well here I go again....so much talent. 😎
Great upload , high country memories, smoking licks
my favorite just love it brings back such good memories of the 70s
Ditto.
Nothing today compares
Amazing is what this is! Jamin 2020!
Doesn't get any better!
BEST VERSION of In my own way...
Only thing is missing is that haunting fiddle from the album cut
fire in the guitar. toy ignites it. so beautiful.
Beoynd perfect!
I agree
this is beautiful
For some reason I was blessed to stay in St. Pete in the mid-eighties. My prayer is that all the southern rock guys will appreciate these tracks and remember those who stepped before us.
Amen!!
One of my favorite MTB songs ❤️
Timeless! Never ending jam! God Bless MTB!
You mean THE ORIGINAL MARSHALL TUCKER BAND .
One on my favorite all time band..!
remembering these boys
I would have loved to gone home with one of you…
Yep. MTB, CDB & EBB. All 3 was the greatest music of all time back in the mid 70's. Along with The Eagles.
You forgot ABB!
yes, Greg & what's his name. Greg actually visited Alaska in 1983/84 back in the days. Great outdoor concert. Others too but I cant remember who. Tony Carey was one - remember him?
OK, I'll leave it others to berate you for the "what's his name" slur :) ABB one of the few white (well mainly) American groups that knew anything about the blues. Don't remember Tony Carey.
OK OK I remember - it's Duane. lol
who is ebb
thank you
Thank god for MTB
The best things ARE FREE☆☆☆☆☆

They called it the thumb of steel

Sweet stuff , great arrangement and honest as shit !! Thanks for posting!
He slammed the vocals on that one
Miss...um.😢
Add MTB to RRHOF!!!
For Red
❤ 🤍 💙
Can anyone out there teach a Toy Caldwell solo like this one?
That was the Original MARSHALL TUCKER BAND and they were GREAT !!! FEATURING DOUG GRAY VOCALS !! OK IN 2023 DOUG GRAY IS TOURING WITH SOME MUSICIANS AND UNDER THE NAME OF M.T.B. . . . HECK NO !!! THEY SUCK .
Call yourselves Ex- M.T.B. FEATURING DOUG GRAY OR THE DOUG GRAY BAND , BUT NOT THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND .SHAME ON YOU !!!!!!
Hate to agree but you’re right. Saw them at Billy Bob’s and was disappointed. Reminded me of a house band at a Holiday Inn. But then I did see Lyle Lovett play a Holiday Inn in the 70’s.
this is beautiful
