      @@paulkeenan4309 At the beginning of the pandemic, I sewed a couple of the flat pleated ones and didn’t like them a ton. But for one of them I ended up using leftover jersey fabric from another project and it was so soft! My husband still wears that one sometimes, but we’ve retired the other pleated ones.

Delighted to find this pattern doesn't require that extra step.

    Over the last year (as of 1/2/22) i have tried different versions. Both paid and free. This one is the best and easiest to make. And it feels secure and avoids the metal nose piece which can break over time. As easy as it is to buy in store, since i have spare fabric, its much cheaper to build a stockpile at home

I might need to make another one that's closer to 10.5 to 11 inches to make it juuuust right but it's really good! Thank you so much. Anti-fog and cute, amazing.

    Thanks for your tutorial! The only thing I’ve noticed as I have a large face for a woman is the piece that turns out being the flat rectangle looking part needs to be bigger for me. Maybe that would help others making these for men or people in general who need a large sized version of this. Just adjust that measurement and you should be golden. (Measure from tip of nose to chin) it’s off by about 1-2 inches for me specifically. Otherwise everything is perfect! Not trying to be rude at all just hopefully helpful to someone going through it like me! Lol! Enjoyed your video! 💖💖

    Great tutorial for a simpler and better 3D mask!! Is the final top stitch (from 6:20 to 6:33 on the video) necessary? Seems like the vertical stitching for the side channels would be enough to keep the nose and chin folds from unraveling. The mask won't look as sharp but this would avoid needle holes in the nose area and also avoids having a "shelf" where things can accumulate. Also, this would allow to add a filter pocket where the filter can be inserted all the way to the top to better cover the nose. Maybe just top stitch along the chin fold to get a better fit down there and to distinguish nose fold from chin fold. Any ideas?

    • @drinkandsewthings4806
      @drinkandsewthings4806  3 года назад +2

      I'm trying to picture in my mind what it would be like... If you didn't do the final topstitch I don't think it would keep the fabric away from your face as well, but I do think you're right about the channels for the elastic holding its shape. I made sure that I used three layers of fabric to prevent the need for a filter, but if you wanted to add a filter you could possibly not stitch the opening closed after you turned it right side out? I may have to play around with it to see if I could make that work and still have it not fog up my glasses!

      For a larger size, I cut 10.5” by 7.5” making sure to use a quarter inch seam allowance. They fit my husband pretty well! As for kids, if you do a 7.5”x6.5” and cut about an inch off each corner instead of 2, I think you’ll end up with a kid-sized mask. I haven’t had to make any for kids because my daughter is too young to wear them!

    Why are you pressing on the table without a cloth on it.

      I have some bad habits… lol. If I don’t have a cloth near me sometimes I just press right on my table. 🤷‍♀️ it’s one of those things where I know I’m not supposed to but I do anyways!

    Never ever keep a drink in an open cup whislt working. Worst problem if you knock it over...bad move. Always a sealed bottle or a travel mug are best. My fistr intsructions

      It actually used to belong to my grandma! It's a Pfaff brand and the model is "Performance 2056." It was pretty high-end when it was new, but I imagine that you can probably get one on eBay or Facebook Marketplace or something. Here's the link to Pfaff's website that has the manual and a "Locate Dealer" button: www.pfaff.com/en-US/Machines/performance-2056

    YOU ARE A PISSA! Drink & Sew....why the hell not? Your mask came out beautiful! I have to try it will spandex fabric so I'm hoping it works as well as the cotton. BTW.... if you tuck in one end before putting on your face, it instantly makes it smaller for a child and it looks good too! I wish you would do another tutorial using 2 different fabrics for a 2-tone look. Do It! And Do It with a Tropical Drink!

      I love the two-tone idea! I’ve made a few for myself but didn’t think about making a video about it... thanks for the suggestion! I’ve been into Mai Tai’s lately so maybe I can take your drink suggestion too. 😂

    I liked your demonstration but I would have enjoyed it more without the drinking. Now sweet tea would have been better for me.

      The beauty of “drink and sew things” is that the best beverage to enjoy while sewing is the one you like best - even if it’s not alcoholic. 😊 I just like sewing and enjoying my time!
