- I recently had the opportunity to do something truly special for an elderly man in my community. His sister reached out to me via the Nextdoor app, explaining that he had broken his ankle and was unable to afford lawn care. As a result, his lawn had become so overgrown that no one was willing to mow it for him.
I knew I had to help. Despite my busy schedule, I made time to go over to his house and mow his lawn for free. When I arrived, I was struck by the sight of the unkempt grass and the sadness in the man's eyes. I could tell that the state of his lawn was weighing heavily on him, and I knew that by doing this small act of kindness, I could bring a little bit of joy back into his life.
As I worked, I couldn't help but think about how we are all connected and how something as simple as mowing a lawn can make such a big difference in someone's life. I was moved to tears as I saw the transformation happening before my eyes. The once overgrown lawn was becoming neatly trimmed and well-maintained, and the man's spirits seemed to lift as he watched me work.
When I was finished, I gave him a hug and thanked him for the opportunity to serve him. I left his house feeling grateful for the chance to make a positive impact in someone's life, and I knew that I had made a new friend.
This experience taught me that small acts of kindness can have a big impact, and I encourage all of you to look for ways to help those in need in your own communities. Whether it's mowing a lawn, offering a helping hand, or simply offering a smile and a kind word, every little bit counts and can make a difference in someone's life.

What a superb job you did to help this gentleman out.
I am a 72 year old woman living in the UK. It really saddens me to see how selfish and uncaring people have become.Surety his neighbours could have helped out considering the circumstances ,then it wouldn’t have got in such a state.
I learned the love of gardening from my father.I was born and raised in a very small rural village.When I was 8 he handed me a pair of garden shears and the push lawnmower. I do mean push lawnmower as there were no electric or gasoline run ones then. I was then “told” that it was my job to cut the lawn and trim the privet hedge in front of our house,once a month.
One day he came out as I was doing this and saw an elderly neighbour struggling to push his mower.He walked me over to him and told him to stop and that I would cut his lawn and hedge when I did ours every month. I ended up doing this for 4 elderly neighbours for 10 years for free (except for the cup of tea they always made me and I drank so as not to upset them).
How I wish people were as caring for others today as they were then.

Not everyone has the tools or equipment to help their neighbors and maybe the neighbor never helped anyone else either. Besides how do you clean up such a huge property by yourself if you have your own family issues to deal with.

Edging looks great and you mow so thoroughly and evenly. 👍
Thank you for spending the time and energy to cut this man's lawn. When people become disabled - either temporarily or permanently - I'm sure it weighs heavily on them that important tasks have to go undone. You have eased a burden for this man literally out of the goodness of your heart and you are to be commended for that. I would like to offer a suggestion for your edging of the curbs. A lot of the guys on the lawn care channels use the string trimmer first to shorten the long grass where the edger needs to be used so the edger will have less grass to fight with when doing the edging. Maybe if you give it a try you might find it helpful for you, too. Again, thanks for the care you give to other people.

Considering its condition before it looks great. Two takeaways, never let your mower blow towards the a/c condenser unit and get anal about the weed trimming. It can make the whole job. If you want to know I am a retires yardman. A halfassed job will get you no referrals. Neighbors talk and the closer the jobs are together the easier your life is.

Beautiful property but a nightmare to maintain. You definitely needed a helper on this one. But you handled it. Beautiful neighborhood and I know as many mice as you made unhappy, there were as many neighbors who were happy.

I see all those other well-manicured lawns around this one and I think "surely someone living around this house has a mower". I've never been shy to mow a neighbor's yard in summer when it needs it (the whole neighborhood benefits from that small action), and back when I had a 42" snowthrower attachment for my tractor I'd routinely clear sidewalks and driveways for neighbors as well. I will never understand why people seem so opposed to lending a hand.\
You inspire me to get out there and trim and cut. Have to do it in small chunks though because of my health. I thank God I can do it at all. Sometimes I get myself in trouble by biting off more than I can chew then I have to wait for help to finish. 😄😄

Tremendous work. Always great helping out those less fortunate. And seeing the shape of the other lawns on the block, I’m sure the neighbors appreciate you getting the lawn in shape. It’s also interesting to see you still using that old mower. It clearly works well as I suspect you keep it running well. Sure bests spending $12k on a new standup mower.

Nice job you did, however I would have liked to see all the cut grass raked and bagged. Perhaps you could raise the blade up on the mower and go over the areas that are the worst and spread the grass out. Enjoyed the video and thank you for helping this elderly man. That was a great job on that yard. As I watched the video I really enjoyed it and it was like watching someone on a roller-coaster great 👍 job.
I've also noticed that when a landscapers take the branches into a dump site I understand that costs but here's a solution that no one's been able to do you ready for it here we go mulch the small branches using for fertilizer and larger branches cut up and use for fire pits camping outside in the sand or in the backyard and even the fireplace wow people don't think that
