EMI/RFI filtering (stated on the box) is a basic form of power conditioning mainly utilizing Ferrite cores. These cores also reduce or eliminate small spikes that should not be there depending upon the mix of ferrite in the cores. The fact that they don't actually say power conditioner must have to be due to some government regulation. I currently have a very similar type unit that I run an amateur radio station from along with my desktop computer and internet connection equipment. I feel it does a great job. I also have well over 30 years of electronics in my background, I'm not just guessing at what is inside the case.

You do have to at least give credit to Furman for being transparent about the fact that it's not a power conditioner though, I mean I'm sure other brands will just let marketing handle that and we all know how that goes.
I guess, technically it's the vendors fault for putting it into the same category as other actual power conditioners, not Furman's.

A line conditioner maintains a certain voltage, even if it the input voltage is higher. A surge protector (which is what this is) protects from voltage spikes, unfortunately many of them (not sure about this one, but most likely) are junk after they take a spike, which is better than nothing.

As R.Savola mentioned, a stiffer inductor can improve EMI/RFI noise suppression significantly. There are no video reviews out there that I've seen, where they take a noisy condition and then show if this improves the noise or not. If it can "filter" noise, then I see it as passive line conditioning. I've been playing in a very electrically noisy studio, and I am hoping it will help.

I think this explanation is excellent, and no you are quite sane, Neil! Thumbs up easily. Thank you very much for presenting this Furman surge protector on your web site; looks like a tank, and I like that build quality, but here I am also concerned about functionality. I want it to work well. I have heard about the very good reputation, and effectiveness of the Furman brand name; and I am seriously considering about choosing this one for my hi fi audio system. I am doing research for a very good surge protector, power conditioner (in italics), and I am having a bit of a problem searching for one that is moderately priced. The really good, efficient power conditioners (besides having surge protection) are well over $200, 300 dollars, Canadian! I am in Canada. My hi fi components are from the late 1980s, 1990s, and 2012, 2019.
Furthermore, I do not have a rack for my hi fi, it is in a traditional wooden stereo cabinet (1990s). Therefore, I have to make a choice between a Pyle surge protector, and/or power conditioner, that has feet to be put on the floor, table nearby, or a very flat, solid surface, or to consider a Furman product. To me it is a serious consideration because I don't feel like paying more than 100 and a half dollars, from Amazon Canadian, for a surge protector, in italics true, actual power conditioner. Therefore, Neil, what product for surge protection, and actual power conditioning would you suggest for a hi fi audio system? Thank you for your consideration, and any valuable advice. I really like the video, you are truthful, and very objective. Yes, and power to the DJ.
