  • Ever see a BOOST leak this BIG!? 2JZ Toyota Supra Boost Leak Fix
    Diagnosing and fixing a boost leak can be very frustrating. Luckily for my single turbo Toyota supra, fixing the boost leak was simple. Performing a boost leak test would be the easiest way to locate the boost leak. Removing the compressor housing of the precision 6766 turbo and replacing the coupler was all that was needed. Now my single supra turbo is back to building boost, just in time to put it away for winter. You

    Damn that thing looks so good. I don't know how to feel about the wing though. I typically don't like it on most supras but for some reason i like it on yours. Then again I swore I'd never buy another black car yet here I am with a Black Supra like yours. For now I'll keep my stock wing but your car looks amazing. Also I hear ya on the "free time" thing. I've got 3 young kids so I know your pain. Keep up the good videos!

      I'm not a big fan of the TRD style wing on stock bodied cars, but with the few exterior mods I have I think it all looks good together. I just went and checked out your vid of the Supra you just bought, looks nice from the vid! Keeping a Supra stock is cool and all but I feel like once you pull those dinky twin turbos of and go single turbo with an upgraded full system you really appreciate the cars potential more. But as the market for these cars gets stronger and stronger keeping it stock is the financially smart thing to do.

      @@TunerTestDrive Thanks for checking out my video. I think I'm trying to tell myself to keep it stock to avoid headaches. I've had a 1000hp Fully Built Evo IX so I know about headaches. Honestly I'm sure I'll go single turbo at some point but I'm trying to improve the overall quality of the car first. I'm OCD about certain things so finding little missing clips and scratched panels only to find that they're discontinued is driving me nuts already! I hope to do some more videos soon so I already created an alternative channel since this one basically has home videos on it.

      Tuner Test Drive I’m a fan of the stock body Supra. But any Supra looks good unless it looks like an insect or a fish lmao! But yeah, I hear ya on the no time to drive comment. With work, family and everything else in between my Supra sadly gets less drive time.

    Sooooo get some Vibrant Vanjen HD clamps and call it a day man! They weld on and they have a 15° flex built into them. They also make it to where taking the intercooler piping out is a sinch. You undo the retainer pin and the clamp comes off and that's it. It's off in less time than I typed this lol
    Plus I don't think you needed to take the compressor cover off just to replace that coupler. I never had to. Was it the angle near the exhaust? In the meantime get some DEI gold tape to protect it from the exhaust pipes, and consider wrapping that runner, even loosely with some header wrap to reduce the extreme heat it gives off to the very close by coupler.
    Eliminating the issue will be a Vanjen HD clamp though.

    Hello! What were the symptoms of the boost leak?

    • @TunerTestDrive
      @TunerTestDrive  5 лет назад

      Symptoms would include building less boost at the same boost level, sluggish spool up. In my case I was only building 10-15 psi, yet my wastgate springs minimum pressure was around 17 psi. So the pressure had to be escaping somewhere.
