    Mr. Julian, I can honestly say you are a great man. Without you, I don't know what would have happened to me. I saw your RUclips videos, downloaded your app, and bought your book. I went berserk and started doing every single piece of advice you gave religiously, three times a day.
    Week one was hell, as I would wake up four or five times a night and cry out of despair. The first month was a constant and persistent realization that my tinnitus was there to never leave again. Right now, I am at the 3~4 months mark and can tell you proudly that I went from sleepless and terrifying nights to barely remembering I have tinnitus. It is still there, way way WAAAYYY in the background, but it has become such an unimportant part of my daily life now. It went from a constant level 5 of loudness to a 0.5 right now.
    Your single most important piece of advice, in my humble opinion, is to not go online searching for gloom and doom from stuck people, as they drain whatever hope one might have. God bless you!

    Hi Julian, new here and long time sufferer for 15 years, my tinnitus has reached such a loud high pitch I can no longer sleep at all. It is controlling my life, I have managed to bring myself back from the edge of complete dispair and am searching for a positive way forward.
    My Jaw has it's own pitch and the high pitch in my head is on the right side, I can increase the volume and pitch by twisting my head to it's extremities and by pushing on the side of my skull.
    I really need to get some sleep as I am mentally exhausted, Dr's will not give me sleeping tablets and I have tried everything from exhaustive exercise to staying up for days to try and sleep but so far this has not helped, when I tried the jaw relaxing exercise in your video I had a chirping in my left ear like a bird which was strange.
    I have had numerous head and neck injuries over the years and had resigned myself to the belief that the damage was permanent and something I would have to try and live with, when I walk the tinnitus pulses with my steps and has taken all the fun from my life over the last 4 years or so and is getting slowly worse.
    I have joined the Quieten app and will join the group sessions, I also want to try yoga, I swim and do balanced exercise, pull-ups push ups etc, but have been told that breaststroke and pull ups will not help and are bad for tinnitus, is this correct?
    Well I hope you read this and can give me some basic advice, thanks for the uploads and I will catch up in the Quieten app at some point. 😁

Please get in touch here: info@juliancowanhill.co.uk In the meantime please learn to self-soothe with the techniques on the app www.quietenapp.com

    My tinnitus is bit much better now as I felt sometimes silence at home
    Tinnitus doesn't bother me when it comes to sleep
    Even at morning I barely hear a low frequency sometimes when I woke I literally forgot that I've a tinnitus
    Yeah when I go to quite room I could hear it and tinnitus didn't bother me at all like usually when I feel so negative and low
    Does it means I've a chance to get better
    I'm listening medication these days at night
    As I was reading majority of cases cured in 6 to 12 months
    Well I stopped searching about tinnitus....

      @@JulianCowanHill I am seeing a vascular surgeon on Tuesday, for an ultrasound of my arteries in my neck , an orthopedic doctor told me her friend had “hissing” and it ended up being a restriction in her artery that’s is how I ended up with an appointment. I will update as soon as I can as I believe mine is caused by inflammation in the neck , I have no hearing loss and was cleared by an ENT

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Год назад

      Sounds like a good plan. Once everything has been cleared as fine please note that any sound inside the body normally gets filtered out by the auditory system if it is not important, for example: the heart beat. There is a loud cardiac pulse in your head but you don't hear it unless you are afraid or doing sport. When we say happy and relaxed our hearing goes into screen-save mode where it ignores a lot of sound. Hopefully this will happen with you when you relax and switch off. Craniosacral Therapy or a good body-based practitioner can help you do this.

    Does your app and recommendations apply to pulsatile tinnitus, as well? Thank you and blessings.

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  2 года назад +2

      Yes it helps with this too. Pulsatile tinnitus is still listening to the cardiac pulse. Instead of hearing the boss of the nervous system your hearing the physical heartbeat. The problem here is still hypersensitivity and hearing things that normally your brain would ignore. Once you settle and come out of fight or flight it is very likely you're hearing will start ignoring these sounds again. The question and answer panel shows the time zone clearly so maybe you have a font on your phone that is too big and the end of the message is being cut off. Please try changing the font size on your phone down a peg or two and you should be able to see the time clearly. (The next Q&A is on Friday 9th September 2022 at 12 noon UK time.) Can you please define for me “getting better”? Do you mean habituating to tinnitus or reducing/eliminating the sound perception? I’ve downloaded your app and I’m wondering if I should go ahead with the purchase of the enhanced content. I’ve tried help solutions from a few different people but they all seem to rely exclusively on habituating. Even just the word is a bit of a trigger for me. My tinnitus came on instantly after a particularly stressful event. My thinking has been if my whole life, I have not had tinnitus, then, suddenly it comes on, can the reverse not be true? In other words, my brain created this, so can it not also eliminate it?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Год назад +1

      Getting better for me is hearing 0 out of 10. Nothing. Zilch. Silence in a quiet room. This is not a miracle. This happens all the time. When I work with clients I frequently ask them how their week was and a 0 out of 10 is different to a 0.5 or a 1 out of 10. We often start at ranges of 5-8 out of ten and over the course of 6 months to a year get down to 0 -2. Prolonged periods of 0 means a prolonged period of silence in a quiet room.
      Habituating is something else: it means getting used to sound that is there and no longer paying attention to it and eventually not even noticing it unless you try and find it.

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Год назад

      The auditory system is designed to rest in that sweet spot where the brain is ignoring all the irrelevant noises inside your head and not detecting anything out there. When there is a noise out there then it focuses on it only if it is important. For example, you cannot hear your loud cardiac pulse right now inside your head. This is being filtered out. It's not important. You can also fall asleep in front of a loud TV and ignore screams, ambulance sirens and gun shots because you are safe and know this is not important. But if someone calls you name.... you wake up. The relationship with sound matters. Happy ears can ignore a fridge sound. Irritated and over-sensitised tinnitus ears can be driven mad by the sound of a fridge.
