And they were the first clones we saw too in the show, with their episode being the first one to air to TV. Definitely my favorite Coruscant Guard commander, without a doubt.

You know, if Thorn wasn't a Coruscant Guardsman, would he have fit well under Mace Windu's command? Their philosophies on "Defending The Republic to the bitter end" seems to go well together. Edit: WOW! 2 years later, and this is perhaps my most liked comment ever! Thank you all for the love.
I feel like the two main reasons people hate Fox were because he killed Fives and he was a big reason Ashoka left the order. If you take a second and think about why Fox did this, it makes sense. Fox warned Fives to stay where he is multiple times but Fives was about to grab a blaster, Fox shot him because he didn’t want to get shot. Fox also can’t see everything that goes on in the galaxy like we can, all of the evidence made it seem like Ashoka blew up the temple. It also looked like she killed all of the clones too. I don’t love Fox and I love Fives and Ashoka a lot but he doesn’t deserve all of the hate he gets.
I think what most people have a problem with is foxes blaster has a stun function. Had he just stunned fives before fives had even noticed they were there fives might have survived.
@@quandaledingle4316 if we were talking about a normal person I'd agree, but a clone that's been genetically engineered and not only has 10 years of training but also has officer training should not only have no fear in situations like this but I'd also expect them to be able to make calm rational decisions even in the most dire situations. It's literally what they were all bred to do.with that being said since palpatine wanted fives dead my money is on he was ordered to kill not stun
Despite being faced with a grave situation, Commander Thorn acted quite well and quick. Even when they were faced with impossible odds, Thorn and his troops fought to the last breath and quite well at that. They really made those droids work for it. Commander Thorn was the healthier Fox. He was dedicated, but not blind with loyalty. He was a caring leader who thought more about how to approach a situation than Fox. Finally, he actually had some level of honor, unlike Fox. Commander Thorn and Commander Fox both got the deaths they deserved. Commander Thorn fought a ferocious last stand and made sure those droids would not take him out easily, while Fox got his neck snapped by the man who probably hated him the most.
Everything you just said was wrong. Thorn did everything wrong. Instead of telling the corvette to launch and attempt to use it's guns to stop the small attack force, he took some of his men to try and open the city doors. I mean, it isn't like he could just contact the city, oh no, he had to force the doors open! Commander Thorn was firing on droids who weren't returning fire. Everyone loves to ignore that they were trying to get him to surrender, if they tried to kill him he would've been dead earlier
@@tk-6967 Look buddy, if I wanted somebody to make a detailed analysis about this and tell me that what I say is wrong, I would have asked. Also, there is one problem with what you said. They were actually trying to kill him because the separatists rarely take prisoners. If they really wanted him to surrender, they would have requested it when he was on his knees or sooner. I'm not going to say that Thorn is a tactical genius like thrawn, but he certainly made some competent moves given the situation. Now I would appreciate it if you would just stop. Your detailed analysis that is flawed and telling me that what I say is wrong really dampens things. You also need to work on your wording of things. Instead of saying that what I say is wrong, you really should have said that there are flaws in what I said. That's all I've got to say to you, since trying to talk to you further will go nowhere. How was he any healthier than Fox? We knew nothing about him, other than his name and rank. Plus, what’s to say Fox wouldn’t have gone out in the same situation as Thorn did?
@@knightmare5097 The answer is simple. Fox was an arrogant jerk and those characters typically don't get honorable ends. As for why he was the healthier Fox, I already explained that.
The Shock Troopers don't deserve the hate they get. They have a noble job protecting Senators and other dignitaries and sacrificed themselves without question to save Padme. Not to mention they've helped me turn the tide more than once in Fall of The Republic.
TCW and their weird morality they blame coruscant guard because they are """bad""" but excuse the 501st who have another Nickname everyone seems to forgot Vaders Fist. if TCW fanboys think the coruscant guard is ruthless and ""bad"'" they dont know anything about the 501st besides the TCW kid friendly version and even in the clone wars they did many things to get a respected Reputation and it aint because they were goodie to shoes
@@laisphinto6372 yeah, especially considering that the 501st stormed the jedi temple *before* order 66, and the new kenobi show has proved that to be the case.
@@laisphinto6372 I don't think you understand one of the points of the clone wars, it makes us fall in love with clones especially the 501st only to drop the bombshell that they end up storming the temple in revenge of the Sith. Even though I don't hate the coruscant guard I get why people hate them the majority of em never really saw combat and where stationed on comfy coruscant, and they usually acted above their other brothers who where in active combat.
@@evildrporkchop4628 Correct. On top of that a good number of senators were corrupt pos who deserved fates worse than death so whoever blindly protected them was seen as being just as bad. This is why within the Star Wars universe Separatists hated Jedi. Blindly serving the Republic and never holding them accountable for their corruption which from many Separatists perspective was obvious. The irony being that Separatists didn't recognize the corruption of their own leaders.
I wonder if Thire ever even considered defecting the Empire, having worked with and been inspired by Yoda and all. I also wonder if he had a hidden motive when tasked with hunting Yoda, which would be to talk to him and hear what he had to say about what Palpatine declared: That the Jedi had betrayed the Republic and sought to take over. Sometimes when you hear something terrible about another, you wanna hear it from them, too. Padmé did this when Obi-Wan told her what he did after falling to the Dark Side. Except in her case, she, unfortunately, realized Obi-Wan said the truth. Palpatine, obviously, did not
It doesnt work like that. The inhibitors make them physically incapable of dissenting thoughts. It wipes all personality and turns them into robots. It essentially kills them. The only way to avoid it is to remove the chip or by pure luck have a defective one. Also working with yoda that one time wouldn't be anywhere near enough. All the clones worked with all the jedi on a daily basis and they still had to go through with it. Thats the point.
The Coruscant Guard were very very much likely to be under the direct control of Sidious. As in quite literally, they probably held no influence over the actions they took. Fox even had a distaste for the Jedi, and that could have been due to being around Palpatine so much, and it likely is, as Commanders took on their superiors personalities in some way, it's only fitting for Fox to unknowingly be influenced by Palpatines alter-ego.
I think Fox represented most of the guards hard ass MP. While Thorn represented the body guard like role of the guard. Anyways for how strict the guard is their commanders looks pretty cool. Definitely one of my favorites.
Fox was just following orders the entire time. Put in the same situation, Cody, Thorn, and (maybe) Thire would have executed the same orders. Wolffe for example, went after Ashoka too and he doesn’t get any hate. Fives was an armed fugitive and refused to surrender. It makes sense why he shot. Fives also had taken General Skywalker and Captain Rex hostage from a certain point of view. Going back to the same situation thing, if Fox was in the position of Thorn he would have done the same thing.
Cody have no longer follow order in The Bad Batch season 2 after he refuse to kills civilians and he rejoin the bad batch and Omega, Even Cody will fight Thire in Coruscant.
@Dragongamer 7 I must remind you that when Fox ordered his men to shoot to kill Ahsoka his perception was : A murderer that could use the Force had escaped and killed troopers. So what did he should have said ? "Alright boys there's a traitor who is not affraid of killing you and is far more skilled than you so please, could you be kind with her ?" And after Anakin's command his men set blasters to stun.
@Dragongamer 7 “Can't say I blame you, Commander Tano, but all the same, you're under arrest." This was said when she was arrested. Then she escapes. Now she is a criminal for real. She tried to escape the law. Whether or not this justifies the live fire is up to you, but still. The last thing you want to do if you are about to be standing trial is to conduct a prison break.

@@icrywhenisleep2130 well, as we know, Thire personally helped pick up Anakin from Mustafar, so he most likely stayed Imperial, and Stone probably did too
Honestly I found Fox's hatred largely undeserved seeing as any other Clone put in his position. Perhaps alike Rex, he would've behaved like Fox. I mean what clone wouldn't follow an order almost without question like Fox seeing as he is "the right hand man" to Chancellor Palpatine (A.K.A) the quintessential president of the Republic. Also the deal with the cleaner droids (assuming maintenance is regularly done) why would he be suspicious if he's done his hundreds of times.
Out of all of the clones Thorn has one of the best helmet/armor designs(only beaten by my personal favorite of Commander Doom and his troops). His bravery and skill was wasted on the Coruscant Guard, IMO he wouldve been more useful as a ARC Trooper or in command of Galactic Marines perhaps
The reason fox is the way he is is because he never had real Jedi leadership. COs like Rex, Cody, and others were less serious because they learned lessons from their Jedi Generals
Hmmmm... Like, maybe? There isn't much that should indicate this, besides. We KNOW Thire was on Coruscant when Palpatine had finished his duel against Yoda. Which happened not long after. So it's possible, but somewhat unlikely. Besides, it might just be a different commander. Hell, the guy on Kamino had a shoulder pauldron, while Thire did not.
man I always loved the Coruscant guard, They're a very accurate representation of a war time police force. They care about getting a job done and doing it most efficiently regardless of cost. It makes the atmosphere seem so much more realistic.
It's worth noting that Fox, like every other clone, had an inhibitor chip, and he worked directly under the one person in the galaxy capable of activating it. If Palpatine ordered Fox to kill Fives (something he almost certainly would have done given what Fives knew), Fox would have HAD to obey. Even Rex, one of the strongest and most loyal clones, was only able to hesitate in shooting Ahsoka for a few moments. Rex had incredibly strong ties to Ahsoka, while Fox only knew Fives as a raving lunatic who tried to kill his boss (who was an immensely popular figure at the time), had two high-ranking hostages, and was aiming a blaster at Fox and his men. There's just no way, if he was under Orders, for him to not kill Fives. As for the situation with Ahsoka, even if we disregard the perfectly reasonable reasons to hunt her down (she was a suspect in a bombing with multiple casualties, she resisted arrest, she escaped from prison after (from what Fox knew at the time) killing multiple prison guards, and she was armed with deadly weapons), we also know that Palpatine had a vested interest in removing her from Anakin's life. She was a stabilizing influence in Anakin's life, and Palpatine needed Anain as unhinged as possible for his Sithly plots to work. He would have every reason to order Fox to use deadly force necessary. When Anakin ordered him to set his blasters to stun, there is every chance that Fox was going against Palpatine's orders when he complied. People forget that Fox worked directly under the Sith Master, who was capable of making Fox do whatever he wanted. It's not Fox's fault that he was a pawn in the hands of a chess master.
Could have been interesting if a story actually follows Commander Fox, especially if he's a soldier that, while following order, is a decent person that thought he was doing the right thing.
I love that I’m not the only one who looks at it logically. I’ve always found it funny how people give Fox a hard time but forget that literally every clone was forced to try to kill someone, there was never any choice, the illusion that clones were supposed to have free will was just another way Palps got the Jedi to lower their guard, the sad fact about clones is that they were made to be weapons, they’re all victims by that right.
He you forgot commander stone the coruscant guard commander who helped jar jar rescue anakin and obi-wan on florrum. He's the only character who could weaponize jar jar's clumsiness instead of complaining about it, because of stone, jar jar was able to take out the power lines (accidentally) shutting off the power at hondo's base, while anakin and obi-wan were being tortured by him.
Fox: literally did nothing wrong throughout the show and fans seem to look for reasons to blame him (senators being held hostage had nothing to do with Fox and blame should be pointed at the senate guard/commandos, releasing Ziro was Fox’s only real option to safety secure Palpatine’s and the senators’ safety, and honestly why would Fox suspect some cleaner droids with official ID on a schedule?) Thorn: we literally know nothing about him or his personality, he could have had a similar personality to Fox or be even worse than him for all we know, all he did was shoot some droids and die, you can honestly replace him with Fox or Thire and they probably would have done and behaved the exact same way in that scenario. Thire: the original Shock Trooper commander first appearing in Revenge of the Sith, he similar to Appo, would basically be demoted from his commander rank by the writers when he appeared in TCW and overshadowed/replaced by a new clone introduced in TCW (Thire was overshadowed by Fox, Appo was overshadowed by Rex) Stone: the actual forgotten Shock Trooper commander.

It’s crazy to think that many fans consider fox to be a coward. I mean, he had the balls to not only arrest a Jedi padawan, talk back to Anakin Skywalker, kill a fellow clone, and shoot Darth Vader all without hesitation. He may have died stupid got damn he sure as hell got some balls.
I don't see why people hate fox so much just for being... a clone. a clone the way kaminoans expected them to be. loyal soldiers that comply with orders from officials. and what I just realized is that Thorn is loved because he did his duty, however he did it to serve a senate member(Padmé). I don't know if Thorn would've done that for Jedis. I believe Coruscant guard is much like 2003 clones and legends clones. clones like rex and other that have personalities are great but do not fit the first role of a clone. I dépendant thinking should've been kept for null's arc and alpha arc and other less modified clones.
From a military perspective, the Guard in their roles are reminiscent of the corps of Military Police, who are largely disliked for similar reasons. Also, here in Australia the MPs are distinguished by their red berets like the decals on the clone armour.
Fun Fact: In addition to the irony of Thire being tasked with hunting Yoda, Jek, one of the other troops that helped Yoda in that first episode, was actually the other trooper that Yoda beheaded alongside Gree during Order 66.
Thorn did everything right in the moment... but I have to wonder if perhaps Thire would have been better prepared - perhaps he might have had at least one gunship already in the air merely for security-sake that could have survived the bombing run and thus aided in the ground-skirmish.

Correct. On top of that a good number of senators were corrupt pos who deserved fates worse than death so whoever blindly protected them was seen as being just as bad. Palpatine, obviously, did not
he only was a shock trooper Yoda wasn't with him the entire war, neither Gree
@@azazaz4627, outside of the 501st, 212th, 104th, and 327th, most clones disliked the Jedi, so Fox isn't exactly unique in that case.

Sith Lords maybe?
@Dragongamer 7 no shit. The Jedi needed her alive for her trial, whereas Fives knew about Order 66 so of course he’d be killed.
@Dragongamer 7 I must remind you that when Fox ordered his men to shoot to kill Ahsoka his perception was : A murderer that could use the Force had escaped and killed troopers. So what did he should have said ? "Alright boys there's a traitor who is not affraid of killing you and is far more skilled than you so please, could you be kind with her ?"
And after Anakin's command his men set blasters to stun.

As I understood it, the suicide droids were brand new designs, so the republic guards would not suspect a thing.

Thire was one of the first clones I actually saw as a child and I still regarded him as one of my favorites
Could have been interesting if a story actually follows Commander Fox, especially if he's a soldier that, while following order, is a decent person that thought he was doing the right thing.
no one cares, he killed Fives.
If he was ordered to kill Fox then he was doing a terrible job of it. Since he was trying to capture him and only shot him in self-defence.
You forgot my boy Commander Stone. He was only in one episode, but proved to be a competent and compassionate leader.
Fox: literally did nothing wrong throughout the show and fans seem to look for reasons to blame him (senators being held hostage had nothing to do with Fox and blame should be pointed at the senate guard/commandos, releasing Ziro was Fox’s only real option to safety secure Palpatine’s and the senators’ safety, and honestly why would Fox suspect some cleaner droids with official ID on a schedule?)
Thorn: we literally know nothing about him or his personality, he could have had a similar personality to Fox or be even worse than him for all we know, all he did was shoot some droids and die, you can honestly replace him with Fox or Thire and they probably would have done and behaved the exact same way in that scenario.
Thire: the original Shock Trooper commander first appearing in Revenge of the Sith, he similar to Appo, would basically be demoted from his commander rank by the writers when he appeared in TCW and overshadowed/replaced by a new clone introduced in TCW (Thire was overshadowed by Fox, Appo was overshadowed by Rex)
Stone: the actual forgotten Shock Trooper commander.
They hated him because he told them the truth

I love how serious the video is and then just “commander thire took a squad with palpatine to mustafar to pick up a *BBQUED* Anakin.”
Thorn and Thire are the reason i dont hate the Coruscant Guard. I only hate Fox.
You should hate Thorn, he got all his men killed in stupid ways and refused surrender. Proper nazi fanatic type
Clone Commander Thire was always one of my top favorite clones. From that first episode of clone wars, it was because of him I could make a connection with the clones. Gone but never forgotten.
I actually like the Coruscant Guard
4:47 Small correction, the Z-6 is capable of firing 166 rounds per *second*, not minute. I assume you misspoke. If it fired 166 RPM, it would fire under 3 rounds per second.
Excellent video!
Thorn is one of my favourite clones
You gotta admit, they got beautiful armour. Love red on white
All I see is a absolute legendary Chad who has one of the best last stands in Clone wars and brought honor and bravery to the Coruscant gaurd(RIP Commander Thorn), A pretty chill Commander(Thire), and he who shall not be named and if we do say his name...he is known as the bitch who killed Fives.
"He who must not be named", aka, Commander Fox-dmort.
Fives: Exists.
Fox: AVADA KEDAVRA!!! *pew pew*
Who/whatever killed Fox in return: EXPELLIARMUS!!! (You get the idea.)
@@gehrigstory6674 I approve 🤣
@@xdj2a2 I bet that if he got laid, he must've said "I can touch you now".
Commander Bitch (who killed Fives) has a nice ring to it
I’ve been making the coruscant guard officers as custom black series figures and while they were questionable their designs slapped overall
He only died stupid because the creators decided to appease fans.
Yesss Thire, such a legend
I swear, we didn’t deserve Thorn.
He was a real one. Rest easy, Commander. May the Force be with you.
We may not have deserved Commander Thorn one bit, but he’s the one we needed.
Commander Thire was such a Chad. One of my favorites for sure
I like Commander Fox hes pretty badass
Stone needs more love, bro he is barely spoken of
So that is name commander thorn finally a worthy opponent are battle will be legendary
What?
Respect and big love for my bro Thorne!!!! 🙏❤❤❤❤
I love Fox, the greatest Coruscant Guardsman
I'd be on your guard, such comments result in a stampede of angry replies. I wish you luck my friend.
*disappears*
@@birdboy1092 precisely why I commented this, hehe
@@landenfisher585 oh you clever sunnuva gun. I like your style!
Every Fox hater out there: It's treason, then.
Or, perhaps, HERESY!!!
1:51 did anyone else hear saesee tiin tiin instead of CT-1010 or was that just me
Fun Fact: In addition to the irony of Thire being tasked with hunting Yoda, Jek, one of the other troops that helped Yoda in that first episode, was actually the other trooper that Yoda beheaded alongside Gree during Order 66.
I like the coursant guard tbh I mean, their amour is so cool, and they aren’t all bad, I mean look at thorn and Thire in the first episode of the CW
Thorn did everything right in the moment... but I have to wonder if perhaps Thire would have been better prepared - perhaps he might have had at least one gunship already in the air merely for security-sake that could have survived the bombing run and thus aided in the ground-skirmish.
We shall never know that outcome my friend…
No he didn't. Thorn had enough time to get the corvette in the air, or at least enough to get it's cannons working. He should've informed the city if he was planning to seek refuge in their instead of telling Padme, because ultimately it made no difference for her
@@tk-6967 the senator was his primary concern, the safety of his men probably a distant second. Communicating directly with the city authority probably would have taken too long and giving the senator atleast some form of warning was enough. I do agree that the weapons should have probably been on standby and some form of security established however given that it was a diplomatic mission, such actions could have been viewed as a sign of aggression, escalating an already unstable situation. I am surprised however that Padme herself didn't have a security detail considering I think there had been atleast one attempt at assassinating her at that point
@@hammer1349 But he could've held off the droids for longer to help the senator by simply activating the corvette's weapons, and I don't mean prematurely, they could literally just turn on the guns with the push of some buttons. It didn't take long for the Tantive 4 to take off, and it was literally leaking fuel and needed serious repairs.
You should do a similar video with the 501st because rex and appo were not the only commanders of the 501st there was also vill and bow.
7:27 he also would’ve simply stunned Fives, which would’ve stopped order 66 and essentially saved the Republic
am I the only one that noticed that he said "166 bolts per Minute" for the Rotary blaster?
it is actually 166 per second wish makes it 9960 per minute!
no big deal just a little issue in the Video
That title and thumbnail is actually relatable. I think Thorn was cool, I didn't like Fox, and I was like "Thire who?!".
What's wrong with Fox bro
@@wsg8283 Fox actively tried to convince other clones to kill Ahsoka after she was blamed for killing several clones.
@@Ganonsmork hmmm Well he was given believable evidence against asoka

Ud believe it if u were in his shoes and ddint know ahsoka was innocent
6:55 correction he got actually got shot 5 times though the first wasn’t in the chest also the more forgotten shock troop commander was drumroll please
CC-5869 also known as Commander Stone he was tasked in protecting the infamous J.J.B. (Jar Jar Binks) is along with him he saved Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker from death.
Commander Thire could be better if He in The Bad Batch season 2 or Andor series as the redemption arc, even after Cody remove his chip by AZI 3 and Omega, then I hope to see Cody vs Thire.
I loved thire. He will never be forgotten
