Nice Work there Slin, I love how you do these Animations and Stuff for New Medics. I really appreciate you spending your time into making those videos for us. Just wanted to say that for once ;)
MR SLIN Hey Mr SLIN, I have found myself getting bag ubers, not by not entering the chokiest choke possible but for doing so and getting denied by a pyro, or a loose-cannon demoman, also as a demoman I've dropped a couple of ubers by putting stickies right in the corner of the chokes < this means popping before walking in the room, so in order to use uber the most efficiently what would be your advise? Distracting with scouts on the other side would be a witty solution?
TheUKNutter Maybe but walking through there even after the demo seeing us, it would drag more attention i guess, I am not sure I've never done that, but what about pyros and the loose cannon?
Thanks slin, I really appreciate you doing this! You really take it to the next level, asking yourself deep questions; you understand that this is a strategy game, not straight up DM. I hope you continue doing this in the future, and I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we all a appreciate it!
MR SLIN I used to be a guy thinking that medic was just about "healing everybody". But you explain concepts really good and i've learned a lot from you
I main Medic, and after watching those videos (also, excelent as always) I feel kinda hyped about playing competitive, but I always think twice and end up in a pub. I love playing as Medic, but i only have 100 hours and i think i'll probably get crushed and with me my entire team :c
Thanks, this helped me because I usually only pop to save myself or when someone calls out. Now I know when to use without having someone call it out! slinWoot
yeah definitely. I'd milk his or your health down to an appropriate level based on number of teammates nearby and number of enemies nearby. however, the goal with an advantage uber is to pop earlier and bring more people in. don't put yourself in a situation where you're doing a solo uber on advantage!
Slin, your videos are really helpful to a seasoned spy main looking to play some sixes med, and hopefully that even ubers video will be out soon! That's kinda the only thing that I don't know how to do c:
how to get forced on hl: spot the enemy sniper across the map.you don't even need to wait for him to scope or shoot, that's more forcing than the 6v6 roamer
If I got this correct, it is better to flash as many people as possible. Just pop and seek for the next of your teammates taking damage (maybe preferably the Demoman, because he is more important) and flash on him. The Uber will last half a sec longer on the teammate you just had it on, so he can still take one hit of damage. Is that right? (I never played Competitive, so might be wrong).
+BeeJay28 Well, if you flash a lot of people, your uber actually lasts less. For example, if you flash 5 people, you have only aboutt 2-3 seconds. But if you pocket one person, it lasts the full 8 seconds. But I'd say it is good to flash many people, because that's soaking up more damage
AeroSix I think it does not matter how long your uber last if you pop on advantage, as long as you soak up more damage than if you did not flash one more teammate. I know about the system of uber duration lasting half a sec less if you flash a teammate, but this half a sec isn't really wasted, if you think about it. It is just that you have half a sec when you have 2 ubered teammates at once, which equals just as much as having one teammate ubered for a full sec for example.
i know that it's quite late, but i want to point out right now, that "dodging spam" is described in the video as, oh, well if you just "dodge spam" you can use uber, well, if you can just "dodge spam" so easy you don't even need a medic because you will never get hit...... ?.?
Is this the most efficient way of pushing a point? Buff roamer for him to jump in. Buff both scouts and move forward. Buff and uber pocket and let him jump in. Flash demo and take point. Focus on healing scouts and pocket to clean up. Just wondering.
Efficient and ideal are two different things. In the video I mentioned that the "ideal" push would be to buff everyone to 150% health. However, efficiency takes in a lot of other factors that I didn't have time to mention in the video. Who is ready to push (ammo loaded, healthy, etc.) is a huge part of this. One of my friends used to say "the only things to plan for in TF2 are midfights and last pushes -- you should play everything else by ear". That's the advice I'd pass on to you. It would be nice to plan out each push like you did, but you just have to wing it most of the time.
I'm a scout main, today I played a tf2 center, badlands, and I was a med we won 5:1 I had 22 deaths to one kill, which was a enemy über drop with a point blank arrow did I do good? Just wondering as med is my second least played class
talkinglama As a Medic you want to put out the most health possible, so dying is obviously bad. Plus dying makes it hard to build uber. I'd check on SizzlingStats or Logs.TF to compare your stats to those of other players.
Thanks, Mr. Slin! I was kind of stuck in a highlander mindset. This helps a lot. Is there ever really a time in 6s when you want to tank an uber on one target? I know that dramatically extends the duration compared to a flashed uber.
Yeah definitely. Those are called "solo ubers" and are used when it's uber vs uber. The more you split, the shorter your uber is, so if you're up against another uber, you want your uber to last longer than theirs. I'll address this concept in a future video, but it's a difficult concept to master. On the one hand you want to pop to prevent damage, but on the other hand you want to pop late and get your uber to end after the enemy's uber. Factor in the healing that will be given to your target during the uber, the potential incoming damage, and the enemy's uber time into your decision-making process.
Thanks! That reminds me of another question... Is it the number of teammates flashed or just the total number of flashes that counts toward reduction of the duration? As in, would multiple flashes between the same two teammates cut my time more than just switching between them once? Anyway, I look forward to your even ubers video. =)
nightsfire Each time you change heal targets you lose half of a second of uber. So if you pop on Person A, it will last 8 seconds. Flash to Person B, and it's 7.5 seconds. Flash back to Person A and it's 7 seconds. This is total duration so it's not just 7.5 seconds or 7 seconds but 7 seconds MINUS the time you already spent ubered. Just making that part clear.
Hey MR SLIN, when talking about keeping your team to it's highest HP as possible, how can I do that without wasting too much time and inevitably losing our advantage?
I know I'm late but... Solo ubering means only one teammate (in this case pocket) is damaging the enemy. Whereas flashing means all (or at least more) of your players can be dealing damage all at the same time. Flashing rather than solo ubering = more players doing damage = more damage dealt to enemy = health advantage in fight.
5:52 that sentry gun is just the best thing in the video
So übers is not about preventing allies to die, but rather to prevent damage in the first place. Huh, I have never seen it that way.
Yep! The more damage you prevent, the better!
