Have you thought about painting an accent wall in your living/family room? It can be any design, including murals. Instead of having hanged picture frames, it's one giant painted wall art. 🤷♀ Or turn it into built-in shelving?
You might be on to something with refinishing the door. I definitely see what you mean about it pulling in warmth and coordinating with the decor. Having the wood also softens the transition from the living space to the plant room.
You could just go with the Dove I get what your saying on refinishing but stain matching can be such a task without having a peice of it to take in with you. I recently changed out hinges on 8 doors and to make it fun I added in some hing toppers as a quiry little hidden touch to find around the house.

I would refinish the doors as much as a PIA it is. And you can get stain samples for free. Don’t buy a whole can!!
