The Centaur class has also grown on me - especially since seeing a more complete/realistic version of her in Resurgence!
A smack down with no clear winner, because it was the human factor that made the difference. Nice. Though, I think it would have been harder for the Raptor, if it didn't have those torpedoes handy, because I think they did the lion's share of the damage.
Hey Admiral.. I like the Centaur and the Raptor forgot that one. gosh. and the beam is turned on high lol. eeh. 😨jeepers, other way around, gosh. the amount of weapons the Raptor has, wow.. and I to agree the human factor, and whom is Captain on that day lol. great battle Admiral.. and the Centaur shields seem better than other ships gosh.. nicely done!!😊🖖
The Centaur was built in the pre-TNG era as it was already shown in the TNG episodes. Starfleet mass produced components of the Excelsior as the saucer section could be modified as a Miranda class. Thought that the Centaur class is the long range and faster version of the Miranda class.
Those plasma can track REALLY well.
Both are good looking ships.
Oooof that last plasma torpedo survived lol Ty for the video and LLAP!
The Design the Ship's U.S.S. Centaur ,is very nice! 🤗❤🖖😉. The Battle in the Video is good been 🌟🌟🌟🌟!!!
Would of loved more Galaxy kit bashes in Dominion War.
RBG likes to swing for the fences so stay in tight. Attack pattern Omega!
Two Danube class runabouts vs val jean style maquis raider (like the battle Chakotay mentioned to Janeway). That would be cool to watch.
You know, you could make a drinking game with how often RBG says "impressed"
👍🏻 Love the Raptor in Armada 1 😊
2:28 "I did not think..."
Why are you still here? Descartes teaches us that those who think, are. Therefore, those who do / did not think, are not. 😉
Agreed, the USS Centaur is probably my favorite kitbash for DS9, though probably because it is sort of Akira-shaped if you squint. I like the low-profile torpedo gunboat concept: using two or more Akira or USS Centaur-type ships to support a bigger capital ship or defend a transport/barge or something.
Yes, I'd give the firepower edge to the raptor, but the defensive edge to the Federation ship.
The human factor won in both cases.
Charlie Reynolds been in tight spots before. He'll make it.
Now we need Raptor vs Steamrunner
I'd like to see that Raptor go up against a Klingon ship, maybe a Vor'cha?
There was a Raptor class heavy cruiser designation ship in Starfleet Command 3 but it looked different than this one. It was just under the Warbird in power.
I played the Romulan Raptor in Star Trek legacy/Star Trek Encounters/Star Trek Conquest. Not sure it looks exactly the same as this one he has.
I don't remember has the Resolute been made for Bridge Commander yet?
I've always loved the Centaur class. Definitely one of the more unique kit bashed ships. Especially with her nacelles. I actually have to agree it's my favorite Dominion War kit bash.
I am gonna try to see if this laptop can play Resurgence. I really want to play it bad.
Retro.
You gotta do a match up of two d 7s Vs one Excelsior And Two constellation 😊
I was always told that the centaur class. Was not that powerful a class and they had it in Moore falls for the past few years. Turn up to the Battle of wolf 359. The new the new engines and such made this into our class and approved and since our classes are probably good starship and put it into space
The Centaur has grown on me too. IMO it's like a Miranda but using Excelsior parts instead of Connie parts.
To me though, she seems more likely an early 2300s design than a Dominion War emergency program.
Firstly, the phasers are using the same turrets as on Excelsior, not the newer phaser strips. I guess Starfleet maybe is using up old stock?
Secondly, I'd imagine Excelsior would've been very costly to build initially, like the Galaxy class in the TNG era, so there would be offshoot designs that are cheaper but offer similar performance in certain areas (EG the Nebula class). Then as ship building facilities grew, more Excelsiors were built and replaced the stopgap Centaurs.
Also, I don't remember seeing many Centaurs. I only remember seeing one, when Sisko and Co were on that mission to blow up that Ketracel White supply station and a lone Centaur found their bug ship.
I always loved the centaur
At least im SFB plasma torpedos dissipated over time. They're fast but if you are at a distance you could possibly lessen the damage.
Both ships deserve HUGE Refit!!
Nice I used to dislike it too but I like. the centaur class after it grew on me and have a head canon for a Dominion war class called the dog soldier class. It has a roll bar like a Miranda but a modern design class, ablative armor, pulse phaser cannons and of course type ten phasers and quantum torps with improved shields.
I claim victory for the Centaur class in the name of Charlie Reynolds!
4:41 I always figured the Romulans had to give up the plasma torpedo in the Treaty of Algeron in exchange for the Federation giving up cloaking devices.
Because remember: the TOS plasma torpedo could accelerate to warp to catch up with an escaping starship. Imagine if they had refined that technology. A 24th century Romulan plasma torpedo could probably be fired from Romulus and make it to Earth.
@5:27 The last plasma torpedo split into two?!?!
To uphold the "that last torpedo" tradition. "That Last Torpedo" has become a mandatory class at Starfleet Academy. Cadets learn about the importance of firing "that last torpedo". It's the legendary torpedo that does what all other torpedoes fired before it have failed to do. It goes straight through the shields and always hits the most critical spot, but never does critical damage until someone exclaims "must've been that last torpedo". 😉
I think with plasma torpedoes the best tac Is to Get close
Centaur class came from the same skunkworks as akira and defiant. More power than excelsior but smaller. It was test bed for the defiant warp core
It's range dependant
Get in close to do more damage
Will you be doing any more Star Trek online videos?
Saucer's too small to be from the Excelsior
I dont think the Centaur was a child of the Dominion War. Her registry number is way too low, suggesting that she is an older ship. Memory Beta states she was launched in 2280 (the source seems to be Star Trek: Legacy). But I think this is too early. Maybe 2330s or 2340s would be more fitting.
A classic kitbash from the showrunners back in the day, who never assumed that we trekkies would spend hours categorizing and debating all the ships we are seeing on the show. When tv resolutions were bad and you couldnt make out details anyway. It was "good enough" to through some model parts together and rearange them and call it a day.
Where are the tri-cobalt? Plasma for short ranges, TC for extended range artillery.
Wasn't the romulan raptor in star trek legacy? Also the centaur ship in star trek online got a resolute skin
THe Armada Raptor behaves nothing like that, it's a bombardment ship, not a ship-to-ship combatant,
If memory serves. This raptor class was In birth of the federation as a planetary assault cruiser.
@@sammy-gd7hw It tracks with the Armada role. Not suitable for StS combat.
Surely the Centaur needs quatum torpedoes, if it was made for the Dominion War. Dominion technology demanded it 🖖
