"HERE HE COMES THERE HE GOES KYLE BUSCH IN THE WALL OH MAH GAWD HERE COMES STEWART TO THE CHECKERED FLAG!!!" One of the best calls in NASCAR history, bar none.
Stewart did not spin Busch. Kyle mistimed the block and hooked his right-rear bumper on Stewart's car. As Wally said at 1:46, "he may get turned for mirror-driving". And that's what happened.
Me and my family were at myrtle beach when this happened and I've been a stewart fan since I can remember me and my dad were jumping up and down. I miss memories like that its a shame he cant win anymore
@@LeviCPM I will never forget this race. Dale Jr. and Mark Martin both wrecked out early. Stewart was in the top 5 for almost the whole race. I thought Busch was gonna win for sure. But Stewart pulled an amazing move on the last corner. The only thing that kinda sucked was he didn't do a burnout at the end. I get why he didn't though. That wreck at the end was really bad and he stated that he didn't feel comfortable celebrating like that after a terrible crash even though it really wasn't his fault.
same here, i remember seeing this live as a young kid. the other memorable moment was his win in his subway car where the guy in the lead went under a certain line i think which nulled his win
I was there yesterday, it was my first NASCAR race and I will NEVER forget it. It was incredible! I didn't know who to root for, my boss suggested Tony Stewart and that's who I had picked. So as of yesterday, I am officially a huge fan of Nascar!
When Kyle hit the wall, I was like "OH! THAT'S GOTTA HURT!", Then, when Kyle got that second hit from Kahne, I was like, "OOH! KAHNE GOT HIT AGAIN! THIS IS ANOTHER BIG ONE FOR KAHNE!", and when Logano hit Kyle in the door, I was like, "OH! DRILLED! RIGHT IN THE DOOR!", and when Kyle came out of the car, I was like, "Another happy landing."
THIS was when nascar was amazing. Been a Stewart fan since his very first year in 99, and I screamed like a maniac when this happened. Nascar is a shell of what it used to be. Sucks.
I WAS THERE! They collided right in front of us on the bend. I remember everyone looking where the pack was and there wasn't much noise. I see Tony try to take Kyle and they touched. I didn't know what to say I just roared with excitement and pointed and we all stood up. Amazing atmosphere and had a Great day. Fireworks came almost right after, can't wait to make another race sometimes soon :)
I was front row in that turn I was 8 years old and I still remember watching kyles car go up on top of the car that hit him in the rear end after he spun out I watched all of it go down in the last turn and I will never forget that moment
Tony didn't spin Kyle. Kyle came up on Tony and Kyle's right rear hit Tony's left front corner panel. You could see Tony's car shoot up the track a bit because Kyle came up not that Tony came down and spun him.
I love how after Kyle wrecked himself, you see Tony Stewarts pit crew jump of the pit wall going "YEA WE WON!!!" Then they see all the cars wrecking towards them and they run back over the wall going "Shit, GET OUT OF HERE!!!" hahahaha
This was such a crazy and awesome finish. I remember me and the NASCAR world absolutely hating Kyle Busch at the time and being so happy. He went on to pretty much blame Tony for the wreck the following week, but recently admitted that it was his own fault.
Wow so many fans right up against the fence, glad NASCAR cracked down on that cause if Busch had got air like Kyle Larson did this year, it would have been a horrible tragedy.
Well, Smoke already drew up alongside, he sold Kyle a dummy, much like Brad K did with Edwards at Talladega that year - neither Busch, nor Edwards should have tried to block that late.
@JaCoBiSmW2 as for Kasey his car again was designed for that frontal impact that's why the COT is different then the normal cars they are designed to take the impact (i.e. Michael McDowwell's Crash in Texas I think it was or Las Vegas.)
@rudylexi8 I don't think so... I noticed it shows him trying to turn his car to the inside to get around the wreck after Kahne came down into the 44 and burton, he lost control for a moment and spun/ slid into the grass.
I feel like it would've been a photo finish if Kyle hadn't been mirror-driving so much. He would've had a better time trying to win by just letting Tony sidle up next to him as they headed to the finish, but he had to make sure that no one was passing him. Hence he lost the win and 13 extra positions.
I was there at that race. Front stretch, in front of the jump tron near the road courses enterance. I was a Jeff Gordon standing, hated Kyle Buscg, didnt care much for any other driver. I stan Tony Stewart now
the first block kyle made wasn't really a "block" if you look closely at 3:27 you see stewart get into him that's what forces kyle to move left b/c tony got into his left rear and kyle was just trying to save the car so he wasn't trying to block him the 2nd one was a block i think kyle was just mad at tony for that and decided to move up and i gues he thought he was either clear or he thought tony was further up and he was trying to body slam tony

@firestarsfan You may be right. I looked at it a few more times I think he may have gotten no damage I'm wondering though if he got any from being spun into the grass to begin with though.
@rudylexi8 No I don't think he did. looking closely, I think he just lost it and tried to slide it to the bottom, he was missed by everyone else that I can see.
"HERE HE COMES
THERE HE GOES
KYLE BUSCH IN THE WALL
OH MAH GAWD
HERE COMES STEWART TO THE CHECKERED FLAG!!!"
One of the best calls in NASCAR history, bar none.
Them all yelling at the same time makes it the best call ever
I still say "20 years of trying, 20 years of frustration..." was the best call in Nascar history, but this one was still good.
Stewart did not spin Busch. Kyle mistimed the block and hooked his right-rear bumper on Stewart's car. As Wally said at 1:46, "he may get turned for mirror-driving". And that's what happened.

And that night everyone was a Tony Stewart fan
Not really.
NASCAR Gamer I think Kyle Busch fans at the time would rather disagree.
Yeah, I was a Brad Keselowski fan.
+Will Blake tony is a jerk off and i am not even a kyle fan
+Michael John shit happens, kyle is nothing but a cry baby of nascar, all he can do is whine and cry
I have always been a Tony Stewart fan ever since I was five years old, and I say this was an amazing finish.

i love how Tony's crew is like

"Here he comes, THERE HE GOES!"
"That's incredible!"

That's pretty much a catchphrase.
That was one of the greatest nights ever!
Cars involved:
#18 Kyle Busch
#9 Kasey Kahne
#99 Carl Edwards
#31 Jeff Burton
#44 A.J. Allmendinger
#98 Paul Menard
#16 Greg Biffle
#39 Ryan Newman
#20 Joey Logano
#7 Robby Gordon
Carl Edwards wasn't involved in it
He went down through the grass.
Add the #96 of Bobby Labonte.
The big 1
I still remember seeing this live with my dad
I was at this race. The crowd went nuts when Busch crashed and Stewart won.
You can tell. You can see them jumping and can hear but I assuming they were screaming like Oahhhhhhhh when the wreck started.

My best Kyle bush moment and the crowd love it.
since then, Tony Stewart has been one of my favorite drivers, whether that was intentional or not.
It wasn't Kyle Busch blocked once ok fine block again you get your ass In the wapl
This was the race that got me interested in nascar. And down the rabbit hole I went. Never looked back.
As a Stewart fan I'll just say, this is without a doubt one of my all time favorite finishes. At least top 3...Go Smoke 2012 4th Title On Its Way!!
That didnt age well...

Not only the best finish of the 2009 season, but the race that cost Busch a shot at the Chase.
I remember this. Almost lost my voice when I saw Kyle spin...I was too happy.
That was beautiful I could watch this 100 times.
I was like "NOOOOOOOO! Kyle is gonna win" until Tony turned him. "YEEEESSSSSSS!"
I honestly didn’t care who won because I knew who would wreak
I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Kyle had such a beautiful car

Incredible driving by Kyle though. How he kept that car on the bottom in 3 and 4 is insane
Sometimes, Kyle deserves more sympathy for getting in a big wreck like this. That crash has got to hurt.
bet he dont block stewart no more
teach you for trying to block smoke again wont it

That was not funny. Sorry.
Such a sick finish and a sick call by the guys in the booth.
I’m surprised that no one gave Tony any shit for this, but people are mad at Austin Dillon for what happened with Almirola
THIS was when nascar was amazing. Been a Stewart fan since his very first year in 99, and I screamed like a maniac when this happened.

Tony Stewart had a great run coming into the last corner, and even if Kyle stayed low, Tony would have cleared him before the start/finish line.

Tristan Ellis Music you don’t block late twice like that when you can’t make it in-front, you go side to side and race your line
this was the best finish I ever seen. Go Tony.
The only thing I hate about this wreck?
Kasey Kahne got mashed up in it.
Oh, well. Kyle had it coming.

the same thing happened at this years race at Daytona 2012. Tony wins & there is a massive wreck behind Tony Stewart crossing the finish line.
Yeah I hear that. It would've been close, but Busch would've won it by about 3/4 of a car length. Typical Busch though. Well done Stewart!
