10 years later this still moves me to tears. As a die-hard smoke fan I was so proud to witness greatness . For as long as I live this will be a moment in time I'll cherish forever.

To me Tony is the closest thing to Dale Earnhardt. He came from absolutely nothing & has never forgotten that. I think he's the last true American racer that represents blue collar hopes and dreams. I don't always agree with what he says nor does but I respect the man for standing up for what he believes in nor backing down from anyone and the fact that he's still your average Joe. Go smoke!!!

One of the most amazing performances over the last 10 races that any motor racing has seen. This is where true talent shows. Back completely against the wall and he fought out of it.

The most talented race car driver I’ve ever seen in my life. Absolutely ridiculous. I don’t even think he realizes how damn good he is. NASCAR hasn’t been the same since he left but it’s awesome to see him tearing it up every Saturday night still.

The playoff format hasn’t been perfect (final 4 needs to be 2 races, not just the last one), but it has been kind of interesting

GREAT race between these two guys and a classy way to end it by Edwards. I remember these two HATED each other in Pocono of 2006 (or maybe 05 idk lol) when Tony wrecked Boywer into Edwards...man have things changed in 5/6 years lol.

I agree! And I think he'll come back in 14 (gotta represent your car #) fully recharged and a force to be reckon with. He is surely missed right now with him being out but I can guarantee 2014 will be a blast with him in it!

@76slippery I think it was a little bit of both. I think if Carl had won at least one race, he could've mathematically held Tony off, but that was the downside. Carl won 1 race all year long, and that was Vegas. I really though Carl was going to have more of a year like 2008. Tony went into the chase winless, and he comes out with the most wins all year, the championship, and making history.

The only sport you can tie at the end of the season and win a title. Why not a drag race between just Edwards and Stewart for 3 laps or something? I don't know any other sport where they use a tie breaker to decide a title.

I’m a Smoke fan best race of his career except his last win. Tony is really the only driver to win multiple championships across different types of Motorsports. And I’m pretty sure he’s the only one to win a championship with three different names: Winston, Nextel, and Sprint. He should’ve kept Grubb as his crew chief til he retired in 2016

There could be another 10 Chases to come in the future but I don't think there'll ever be one so amazing like this one. Best championship race of the 21st century and tied with the 1992 Hooters 500 as the best championship race of all-time. IDC what NASCAR haters say about this but, that was the best championship fight in sports in 2011. Awesome job to Smoke!

@76slippery I agree. I said it before, and I'll say it again: I wasn't going to be a fan of the chase until Jimmie Johnson lost it. And I'll be excited for the 500 next year! I hope my boy, JG has an even better year next year than this. Jeff got 3 wins, and he was a real threat going in. His performance in the chase though, it was lacking. Hopefully Alan and Jeff get it worked together for next year, that way the long awaited drive for 5 will finally be completed!
