    Thank you so much, prior to seeing your solution i had changed 3 bulbs and was getting frustated and each time was calling handyman
    to change it. This time he jokingly said "i dont think this will work"
    I was amazed when i saw it was perfectly working, thanks a million

    It's ridiculous that this was posted over 3 years ago and the problem still exists. I exchanged the bulb twice because it wouldn't turn off before finding this video.

    I have experienced a related problem with FEIT dusk to dawn bulbs flashing on and off every fifteen seconds at night (I know on other websites people have complained of this issue). In my case I determined this was clearly being caused by light reflecting back on the sensor from the glass of the globe light fixture in which the bulb is located (i.e. when I removed the globe the bulb no longer blinked off). My successful work-around involved just putting a little strip of scotch tape over the sense, which apparently deadens the sensor just enough that the reflected light no longer triggers the light to turn off.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  3 года назад

      Ah, that's an excellent solution. It seems like FEIT should provide some sort of "calibration" method, maybe just a slider that adjusts a variable resistor or something. Just so people don't have to keep doing these workarounds.

      I am still struggling the light not functioning as expected outside on the covered porch. 1 layer of painters tape seems to cause flicker every 23 seconds, even 2 layers seem to cause flickers every 23 secs. However 3 layers stop the flicker at night but the light will not turn off during the day. I suppose the tape is not filtering the light correctly. However, I don't understand the flicker.

      It sounds like the lightbulb may be sensing itself! Maybe try putting a small shield (made of tape?) above the light sensor, to block out the light from the bulb. That way it will only sense the ambient light. Best of luck!

    Thank you so much for this! I was very frustrated by daylight not turning it off. I used 2 pieces of painters tape and it worked perfectly. I tried 1 but with the cover on, the bulb shut off quickly and turned back on. =)

    Thanks for the hack. I was so excited to try this however, it appears they made a change (for the worse) and the black plastic dot is now slightly submerged and really secure in the hole and is impossible to remove. So frustrating. The light goes on - but does not go off.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  6 лет назад +1

      Hmmm, that's a bummer. Sounds like Feit needs to fix the real problem, otherwise people are going to stop buying the bulb... I suppose you could try to carefully cut or drill out the plastic dot but of course it might ruin the bulb. Or just return the bulb...

    Do you know if this problem exists with other dusk-to-dawn bulbs, like the Phillips? I'm having this exact issue with the Feit and can try hacking it as you describe or return it for a different brand.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure about other bulbs. I would guess that each one will have a slightly different threshold, but since you already know how to hack the Feit, it's probably easier to just go ahead and try it.

    My problem with these bulbs is actually getting them to turn on. I bought 3 Feit Electric LED dusk to dawn bulbs to replace my fluorescent dusk to dawn bulbs outside in the lanterns. The only problem with the fluorescent bulbs is that the "eye" sensor gets clogged with dead bugs that die inside the outdoor lanterns outside of the garage. I thought I'd upgrade to the LEDs. I installed all of them during the day, with the power off. I tightened them snugly. There is a swivel built in the bottom that allows me to rotate the sensor, which I rotated to the best location. None of the lights turn on. I rechecked the bulbs at night and took them out and replaced them back in, but still no light. I tested the LEDs in a chandelier and they work. But they just aren't working outside in the lanterns. Any thoughts? What am I missing.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  6 лет назад

      I've had problems just like that. Try turning off the bulbs then waiting at least 5 minutes. Then turn them on again.

    • @jonnyhallak

      Chris Torrence no instructions but I twisted the bulb around about a 1/4 turn, now it’s working better. I think the Sensor was picking up light from my window. Thanks for the reply.

    Can painters tape on a sensor hold up to the heat in an enclosed fixture? Is it safe?

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  2 года назад

      Since it's an LED bulb, it generates very little heat. If it was maybe in direct sunlight then I suppose it might get warm inside, but even so, that little square of tape shouldn't cause any issues.

    I just purchased the fiet Motion sensor light bulb. I returned the first one thinking it was defective but the second one isn’t working either. The light just stays on. I have it set up by my porch which is secluded and rarely has motion. Any quick fix for that?

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  4 года назад

      Hmm, that's a bummer. Do the instructions say anything? Sometimes those bulbs have a mode where it stays on permanently. Try turning the bulb off for like 5 minutes, and then back on, and see if it behaves better. If it doesn't, then you might have have to give up and get a dedicated motion sensor.

    • @darrenblack2802
      @darrenblack2802 4 года назад

      @@CT6502 I've now bought 2 of the Feit motion activated Intellibilbs. The haved a switch for day and night, or just night mode. they are both controlled by motion only. They just set weather it works 24 hours a day, or just at night. However, both light have never gone off on either mode, in dark or light. They just act like a standard bulb. Don't think I'll try a third. Like the concept, but nothing seems to get them to go off other then cutting power to them :( (I've installed plenty of photo-cells and motion lights, and tried on-off-on type of ideas to trip iot, but still just works like a bulb) Anyway maybe a bad batch, but a great idea for a under $10led
