Did the valve tapping issue you had before you changed the valve springs, etc, ever go away when the engine warmed up or did it happen wether it was hot or cold? My 92 vr seems to be louder now when it warms up, a lot louder than it used to be

VRs all tap a bit of left a while (2/3 weeks) so that’s why I generally start mine now for 20 mins each week.
Yes the valve tapping does disappear when warm but it goes quicker one you give it some pressure.
The lifters are shit and ive had new sets that are a arse to get free, I have a draw full of deader or stuck lifters.
Id suggest if it’s louder now, you might wanna get some new lifters in Bill

Thanks for the reply, I forgot to check back. How's that Corrado coming along, it's always something on these damn cars. I did replace the lifters but that was at least 10 yrs ago when a buddy of mine helped me change the leaky head gasket.
It seemed like there was a lot of carbon on the valves when the head was off, could that also be causing some of the noise?

What’s the main difference from an obd1 and 2 engine

Slightly better diagnostics and the ISV is internal to the Throttle body. Apparently there are natural gains to be made from OBD2 but not that i saw. Also the TB is smaller than OBD1.
This is why alot of VR6 turbo peeps prefer the OBD1 setup and its easier

Have a look at your Idle Control Valve. It may be faulty
