You are right about the dangers of giving Melvin an untrained kid a gun. You could see how he was waving it around sweeping the muzzle across several people with his finger on the trigger! I love how Bert as a responsible gun owner gave Melvin an empty gun to get him moving so he could not hurt anyone, and even after seeing him try to fire the revolver and it just going click click. When he took it back he opened the action looked to make sure it was still empty before he put it back away. Most movies to day don't show this kind or safe firearm handling so sad.
I swear I never thought Tremors would hold up the way it did, but it does! Just a fun ass movie that can be a horror movie, or a comedy. I love all the reactions to this one.
One thing I love about the Tremors movies is, unlike a lot of horror movie full of annoying characters you can't wait see get killed, it's full of fun, likeable characters that you root for and wanna see make it til the end.
Yup, even Melvin. I met kids like him. I just wanted him because he was kid. According to the backstory, his parents are in Vagus during the movie, the reason he is such a brat is because they do this all the time. Just leave him alone, no babysitter or anything of the sort.

As a wee lad, I watched this many times and always said that I'll someday have a wall full of guns. Now, we'll just say that I have "a few" more than Burt. To answer your question about what the big gun was that Burt used to finish off the graboid in his house, it was a double barrel 8 gauge shotgun (much bigger than a 12 gauge), loaded with solid lead slugs. I have a single barrel version of it. Tremors 2 is definitely worth watching. The rifle that Burt uses in the sequel is...let's say even more impressive and after years, I finally got one for my collection. I even recently bought some props that were used in Tremors 3.
"They'll like him, he'll taste like Bacon"- that one almost made me shoot coffee out of my nose! There are 6 or 7 sequels, and they all have Burt Gummer (my spirit guide).
I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched this amazing movie! Love each of the characters and love that it seamlessly blends horror, comedy, romance, and action! Great acting and never boring storyline!
“They’ll like him, he’ll taste like bacon” 😆😆😆 Wonderful selection. Such a great, funny, scary movie with a tight story snd screenplay. It’s so good they use it as a teaching example at film school. We watch it at least once a year.
Don’t feel bad, almost nobody saw this in theaters. It was when VHS video rentals became a thing and it caught on in the rental market and then became a cult classic.
I love this movie, it's a family favorite. I never tire of watching it. Galaxy Quest (1999) is another favorite I enjoy no matter how many times I've seen it. This was Reba's first acting gig. I recall it being said those in charge were not thrilled to have a wannabe who was a country singer acting in their movie, but they were persuaded, and then found her to be absolutely a delightful person to work with who did a wonderful job. I enjoy funny scary movies and one that I recommend is Warm Bodies (2013).
Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward had great chemistry as Val and Earl! And if you loved this one, I HIGHLY recommend the next two in the series! Micheal Gross completely steals the show! Another thing I like about this movie, is that these are ordinary people, no one is superhuman, and they solved the problem in a believable fashion. Still, hands-down, my favorite horror film!
Such a perfectly paced movie! (not a wasted scene) I absolutely love it! Sadly, the "older guy" (Fred Ward) died about a year ago. But yeah, he was great in this movie. (everyone was) Glad you guys enjoyed it too. Great reaction.
Fred Ward was in several notable and/or fun films: The Right Stuff, Silkwood, Sweet Home Alabama, Swing Shift, Henry & June, etc. He had a wonderful screen presence.
Fred Ward also starred with Joel Grey in "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins" which is a fun movie based on "The Destroyer" book series about a legendary mythical assassin and his apprentice.
I saw this at the bargain theater on a Friday night a few months after it was released. The place was completely full 15 minutes before the start time, and we were all there just looking for a fun time, and we got it! Whenever the Graboid-cam shots started, everyone was screaming, “RUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!!” at the screen and just getting into it so much. It was my favorite moviegoing experience ever!
@@daerdevvyl4314 Snakes on a Plane in theaters was an amazing experience. It was like an episode of MST3K done live with audience commentary and a lot of fun.
I forget sometimes what a WELL WRITTEN movie it is. All the characters behave totally reasonably, act in rational ways, and say and do things that most sane people might do. It's so great and elevates the movie so much
Tremors is seriously underrated. Great fun watching with the "Squad"! Hope you two see the value in being preppers now, LOL. And, when you're laying in your guns, don'g forget you need at least one large bulldozer.
The lady in this scene 11:38 is the late actress, Bibi Besch. She starred in one of the best Star Trek films ever, "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" (1982). They did a remake of this classic with the newer Star Trek crew/actors, but they called it "Star Trek: Into Darkness" (2013).
I love that Burt just went full gun-nut hillbilly problem solving on the worm: "Got a problem? Use a gun. Problem still there? Use more gun! Problem still not ding-dong-gaddamn gone? Use more bigger gun! 'MURICA!" XD
I watched the first two films SO much, when I was a wee lad. Burt became an idol of mine. I grew up saying that I'll someday have a wall of guns. Well, I've now far surpassed Burt's original collection.
That machine that the Gummers had was a brass polisher. You put your spent brass cartridges in it with the polishing mix, and it vibrates and cleans the propellant off. You do this as part of re-loading your own ammo.
Awesome movie reaction. Tremors is a cult classic! Great movie. I loved it when the she of the Rob Squad said, "Oh their gonna like him! He tastes like BACON." OMG you had both my wife and I cracking up. Quick witted you is.
Always loved this movie. And I am impressed how good it still is after 30+ years. So many movies I liked when I was young make me cringe a lot today but not this one. Still so good.
Tremors is a great film. A perfect blend of scary, action, and humour. I remember the first time I watched it I had no idea what to expect. I rented it back in the VHS days. It's so well filmed and the cast were amazing. Every one of them did such a great job,... all the characters had some kind of contribution to the overall story. I love the gradual reveal of the Graboids,... just builds up that tension. And they don't bother trying to explain their existence,.. there's no need. I just love this film. I can watch it over and over.😄
Such a classic movie, and comedy/thriller are two genres that don't mix well typically. Definitely a sign of great writing. Great story, great characters, great cast, great cinematography. Everything you want from a film. It's no wonder this movie has stood the test of time.
There were several movies in the late '80s & early '90s that managed the perfect balance of comedy & horror. Besides this, there was also "Arachnophobia" & "Killer Klowns From Outer Space".
This is one of my favorite movies. It feels so much bigger than it is, considering it’s confined to a very small town with a very small population. But it is so much fun. The mystery, build up, and the Humor was always on point. So glad you reacted to this. This movie/series definitely deserves more love.
“A FEW GOOD MEN” Great military courtroom drama with a very famous quote and great cast!! 1. Tom Cruise 2. Kevin Bacon 3. Demi Moore (ghost) 4. Jack Nicholson (the shining) You’ll love it!!!
Kevin Bacon, along with all of the other huge stars, was great in "A Few Good Men". That movie and "Top Gun, Maverick" are also my favorite Tom Cruise movies.
A nice subtle thing Michael Gross does when he gets the gun back. He knows he didn't give him a loaded weapon. But he checks it anyway when it's returned.
Can't wait to watch this reaction! Have to leave this message before i start. This was my dads fave movie, before he passed away when he was very sick me and him would watch it one time every night for over 30 days in a row (he would forget he watched it the night before due to the illness that took him, so we watched it the night after and the night after etc until he did pass). I love this movie so much and I'm so hyped you're doing a reaction to it much love to you both -goes to watch it-
The blue barrel is a metal cleaner of sorts, the barrel vibrates and shakes the sand which act like sandpaper to clean the brass casings so they can reuse them. The huge rifle is an 8 gauge double barrel shotgun firing solid rounds (the more common 12 gauge has a diameter of 0.725"/18.415mm while an 8 gauge has a diameter of 0.815"/20.701mm, just a tad more than the diameter of the guns on most Fighter jets).
Most of the sequels are worth watching as well. Burt has alot of amusing moments in most of them. There was also a short lived tv series That said it was a good film, well made and balanced the horror and comedy very well. Future filmmakers would do well to take some notes from it
Also Kevin Bacon didn't even want to do this movie. He did footloose years prior and thought that was his break in Hollywood and struggle for a few years. He read the script about underground worms and thought it was a stupid idea but eventually took the job because he needed money. It did decent in theaters but really took off when it came out on video and is now 1 of the ultimate fan favorite cult classics. Also just another little fun fact is that the young blonde daughter Mindy is also the young blonde girl in the first Jurassic Park!
This film is a personal favorite of mine. I watched it at 6 right before we moved from Michigan to Tennessee. My parents told me those were “Tennessee Earth Worms”, and that’s why there were so many gulleys and ditches near the road. 😂
You should have the size of those Tennessee Catfish we use to catch with those Tennessee Earth Worms. We used to go fishing down beyond Cherokee Dam on the Holston River.
We love Tremors. Whenever the teenagers get together it's one of the movies we always put on because it's good no matter how many times you see it. The sequels get more and more obtuse. I spent a couple of years in a tiny smudge of a town in Arizona and I'm glad I hadn't seen this yet at that time because I spent a lot of time out walking the desert. The worst thing I came across was rattlesnakes and scorpions and you can walk a wide berth around them. I learned early to always carry water even if you're just going next door. "That" jiggly machine you asked about cleans and polishes the used brass bullet shells. The brass is the most expensive part of a bullet so it pays to collect them and either sell them or clean them and re-use them reloading yourself. Most enthusiasts learn to reload their own. Just a few people can go through a thousand rounds in one day of target or competition shooting.
I am a retired geologist. I have known women very much like Rhonda, both in college and professionally: smart, resourceful, practical, down-to-earth (pun intended). They nailed her character.
One joke was everyone turning to the Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon characters as the only one who knew how to ride. Reba McIntyre comes from an entire family of champion riders. And Michael Gross starred as a sensitive, quiet dad in a television series, so casting him as a macho, gun-loving survivalist was another unstated bit of humor.
Bacon's partner is played by Fred Ward. He played Gus Grissom (the astronaut) really well in The Right Stuff!!! He has passed away in the last year, I think, may he r.i.p.
Ok, now your in my wheelhouse. This is in my ALL TIME top 10 movies. It was released in 1990. I have it and watch it whenever I’m feeling low or need a pick-me-up !!! I hope you love it half as much as I do ❣️

This was filmed in the high desert of California near the town of Bishop. The views of the Sierra Nevada mountains along with the high desert scenery holds a beauty all it's own.
My favorite line from Burt got you guys too "broke into the wrong Goddamn rec room didn't you". Also love the cannon fuse line
I hate when people think just because a film gets older. It won't hold up! They all hold up if your a real movie buff!
One thing I love about the Tremors movies is, unlike a lot of horror movie full of annoying characters you can't wait see get killed, it's full of fun, likeable characters that you root for and wanna see make it til the end.
I don't know about that. I've never seen a horror movie teenager I wanted to die more than Melvin...
@@galerios1 lol Melvin gotta go!
Also, they react like normal people would and take logical and proper action.. for the most part.
Yup, even Melvin. I met kids like him. I just wanted him because he was kid. According to the backstory, his parents are in Vagus during the movie, the reason he is such a brat is because they do this all the time. Just leave him alone, no babysitter or anything of the sort.
@@MrSophire And in the Tremors TV series he becomes a ruthless & scuzy land-developer.
I really hope y'all watch the second one. A lot of people don't like it because it doesn't have Kevin Bacon or Reba McEntire but Fred Ward (Earl) and Michael Gross (Burt) are both in it and Burt steps it up to another level.
The second one is my favorite in the series. RC+C4
👏👏 *Arachnophobia (1990)* and this first *Tremors* are two of the best and most underrated creature features ever! They're funny, scary, unpredictable, smartly written not to mention all the great actors and cast.
I've always loved 8 Legged Freaks as well if youve ever seen that. It's so dumb but i loved it lol it has a young Scarlett Johansson which was 1 of her first films.
@@MC-wl4uq : 🌺 Really? I'll watch it then! People are snobs. Tremors is like 100 times more entertaining than Dune.
@Pohana Hawaii You should definitely watch it. It's a comedy giant spider movie so if you like tremors you will like this movie as well because of the comedy
@@MC-wl4uq Eight Legged Freaks was a movie made for idiots. They insulted out intelligence with that one. Even for a creature feature, B movie it was bad. I've seen better on the Syfy network.
I love Arachnophobia! Such an underrated movie!
8 gauge rifle I would have thought. The cartridges are certainly full brass, at any rate.
"They'll like him, he'll taste like Bacon"- that one almost made me shoot coffee out of my nose! There are 6 or 7 sequels, and they all have Burt Gummer (my spirit guide).
The characters is what made this movie awesome Val and Earl were freaking great. I always loved this movie.
I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched this amazing movie! Love each of the characters and love that it seamlessly blends horror, comedy, romance, and action! Great acting and never boring storyline!
And that foreshadowing when the cooler starts making noise...chef's kiss right there
"Kevin Bacon looks so natural as a cowboy" that just goes to show how good of an actor he is. 👍
Definetely.
And yet here he is selling phones in the UK. Wasted talent.
@@albamartinez4987 hes old, must be worry about retirement money.
The older an actor gets, the better a cowboy they make. Imagine Kevin Bacon in a western now, as an aging cowboy. I'm here for it.
@@albamartinez4987 that yacht ain't gonna pay for itself!! 😀
"They are in a basement" They are in a goddamn REC ROOM thank you very much.
“They’ll like him, he’ll taste like bacon” 😆😆😆
Wonderful selection. Such a great, funny, scary movie with a tight story snd screenplay. It’s so good they use it as a teaching example at film school. We watch it at least once a year.
Made wonder how many times he asked "Do you like the taste of Bacon?"
What I loved about this movie was that it was a horror movie that took pace in broad daylight!
As a child, I remember watching this movie. I was afraid to get out of bed because it scared me so much!
I was a kid when this came out. The trailer alone freaked me out. I never saw it in the theaters, but saw enough clips that scared the hell out of me
Don’t feel bad, almost nobody saw this in theaters.
(everyone was)
Glad you guys enjoyed it too.
F
I loved Fred Ward in Stephen King's Swing Shift. :)
This movie is a rare gem.
Maybe didnt go very well when it come out, but surely will be remember as a timeless classic forever.
I only kind of had this experience once. It was Snakes On A Plane. I found it annoying at first, but after a while it just seemed normal.
@@daerdevvyl4314 Snakes on a Plane in theaters was an amazing experience. It was like an episode of MST3K done live with audience commentary and a lot of fun.
This movie was a big part of my childhood, I quoted and still quote this move all of the time! So cool you guys are watching 😊
Yep, great excuse to jump on the furniture as a child. Graboids!
This movie has such good characters and great acting.!! And, I love Reba's part in this. It just seems to fit that little Okie gal!
I love the credit song she sings.
@@LordVolkov yes, it's a good one, Why Not Tonight. I had forgotten it was at the end of this movie until it started up.
Tremors is one of my favorite horror movies! Glad you got a chance to witness this amazing piece of work!
It’s so much fun.
"They'll like him; He'll taste like bacon" ---- Hilarious, made my day!
Such an amazing film. It's one of those films you can never get tired of and watch every time it's on TV. Everything about it is perfect❤❤❤❤
She said "professional".
A great movie for a Friday.
"They're going to like him, he'll taste like bacon!" Amber wins the internet for June.
Awesome movie reaction. Tremors is a cult classic! Great movie. I loved it when the she of the Rob Squad said, "Oh their gonna like him! He tastes like BACON." OMG you had both my wife and I cracking up. Quick witted you is.
Such a great movie. They always had it on TV in the 90s
It sure was and I would watch it each time 😅
Always loved this movie. And I am impressed how good it still is after 30+ years. So many movies I liked when I was young make me cringe a lot today but not this one. Still so good.
Tremors is one of my favorite movies. It's a great example of what you can do with a good cast, good writing and some ingenuity
I can watch it over and over.😄
Rhonda: “Look, these things are entirely unprecedented.”
Nestor: “Yeah, but where do they come from?”
😂😂😂
Such a classic movie, and comedy/thriller are two genres that don't mix well typically. Definitely a sign of great writing. Great story, great characters, great cast, great cinematography. Everything you want from a film. It's no wonder this movie has stood the test of time.
There were several movies in the late '80s
& early '90s that managed the perfect
balance of comedy & horror.
Besides this, there was also
"Arachnophobia"
& "Killer Klowns From Outer Space".
I love this movie. I quote this movie often. Thank you for the reaction. It is always a pleasure.
This is a perfect movie, in that there is nothing wrong with it. It has tension, comedy, great acting, scares...
The “Elephant Gun” was a William Moore & Com 8 - gauge shotgun firing slugs. Circa early 1800’s.
This is such a great movie, one of my favorites. Reba was great in this movie also
This is one of my favorite movies. It feels so much bigger than it is, considering it’s confined to a very small town with a very small population. But it is so much fun. The mystery, build up, and the Humor was always on point. So glad you reacted to this. This movie/series definitely deserves more love.
Hope you enjoy, I’ve seen it so many times but I still love watching it.
This was one of my favorite movies in high school. My buddy and I quoted it left and right. Great reaction!
“A FEW GOOD MEN”
Great military courtroom drama with a very famous quote and great cast!!
1. Tom Cruise
2. Kevin Bacon
3. Demi Moore (ghost)
4. Jack Nicholson (the shining)
You’ll love it!!!
Tom Cruise and scientology. Creepy as all ...
I love this movie so much and I'm so hyped you're doing a reaction to it
much love to you both -goes to watch it-
The blue barrel is a metal cleaner of sorts, the barrel vibrates and shakes the sand which act like sandpaper to clean the brass casings so they can reuse them.
God I loved this and Critters as a kid. Made me so happy to see you guys reacting to it!
"He'll taste like Bacon!" Nicely done. 🤣
Most of the sequels are worth watching as well. Burt has alot of amusing moments in most of them. There was also a short lived tv series
That said it was a good film, well made and balanced the horror and comedy very well. Future filmmakers would do well to take some notes from it
In my opinion, Burt Gummer is right up there near Ash Williams as iconic cult heroes.
Yay! I was excited that you watched TREMORS, so much fun. And I knew you'd enjoy the silly fun.
My absolute favorite movie! So glad you watched this it's such a cult classic along with Startship Troopers.
The big gun was an 8-gauge shotgun, a.k.a. an "Elephant Gun". There's a 4-bore, but they are quite rare.
This film is a personal favorite of mine. I watched it at 6 right before we moved from Michigan to Tennessee. My parents told me those were “Tennessee Earth Worms”, and that’s why there were so many gulleys and ditches near the road. 😂
I think your parents were a little twisted :)
You should have the size of those Tennessee Catfish we use to catch with those Tennessee Earth Worms. We used to go fishing down beyond Cherokee Dam on the Holston River.
OMG. Amber's comment- "They'll like him, he'll taste like bacon." 36:38
Such a beloved movie! Its the little movie that could. The progression and pace of this movie was so perfect
Great choice! Kind of a throwback to all those 1950's creature features!
I am a retired geologist. I have known women very much like Rhonda, both in college and professionally: smart, resourceful, practical, down-to-earth (pun intended). They nailed her character.
One of my fav childhood monster movies. This was such a good movie, hope you try the sequels too.
''They'll like him, he'll taste like bacon!'' Lol!
One of the best movies to react to. BTW, the little girl in the movie is Ariana Richards, who starred in Jurassic Park
I highly recommend continuing this series after this. It is just a fun series that never gets old.
Bacon's partner is played by Fred Ward. He played Gus Grissom (the astronaut) really well in The Right Stuff!!! He has passed away in the last year, I think, may he r.i.p.
I love this movie, RIP Fred Ward 1942-2022
Ok, now your in my wheelhouse. This is in my ALL TIME top 10 movies. It was released in 1990. I have it and watch it whenever I’m feeling low or need a pick-me-up !!! I hope you love it half as much as I do ❣️
I love this movie. Michael Grossman plays Burt is the father the sitcom Family Ties which is where Michael J Fox started his career.
RIP Boner
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this movie but I love it every time I see again and again the franchise’s were also great
After a super rough and long day of working masonry in the 90° weather I'm so excited to be home and relax, perfect timing on this one y'all 🤙 one my favs as a kid been 15+ years since watched so stoked to rewatch!
Reba Mcentire was in this, in case ya missed it.
The big gun is called an Elephant Gun, since they were used for that purpose.
RIP to Fred Ward. He's one of the best part of the first 2 Tremors.
He didn't get many chances for a solo lead, but check him out in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins
Fred Ward and Joel Gray were great in Remo!
Such a fun depiction of the desert living mentality. It's not just water bills and cracked skin. There's fun to be had.
