I really have enjoyed the videos with Jim. He has a wealth of knowledge and he is living on the road but still takes care of himself and doesnt look like a homeless person. He is very refreshing. Would like more from him.
I live in my RV on an organic farm in Western CO. Sprint is the most reliable carrier in our region. An unusual occurrence for a wonderfully unusual and beautiful place to live full-time in an RV.
I can attest to the functionality and effectiveness of the WeBoost products when used correctly. One thing to keep in mind with boosters like the 4G-X is to follow the directions regarding separation between the inside and outside antennas. For the outside antenna mount I decided to use some umbrella tent poles that I picked up from an army surplus place. The poles come in 4’ sections & it’s easy to set up as many sections as you need. For the base I use a 1” pipe flange with a 12” pipe nipple screwed into it. The assembly then sits on the RV rear bumper and is lashed to the RV ladder with bungee straps. I’ve been using this setup for my WeBoost, wi-fi booster and ham radio antennas for years with good success 👍.
On another episode of the Bob and Jim Show, would you please do a sequel and explain the nuances of aiming and tuning the directional antenna AND what companies/programs Jim is signed up with (referring to the "$56/mo" that he mentions) for both his cell phone & hot spot services? Thanking you in advance!
Well, for those of us old enough to have had to do this with a TV rooftop mounted antenna...these days, just rotate and watch the cellphone app to show signal strength. Far more mysterious is the$56/mo.for everything...this is far, far from common knowledge!
You can use the android phone app Network Cell Info Lite it will find the direction of the cell towers and also the strength of the cell signal from the tower in DBm. It's a free download from Play Store.
Another great video packed with useful info, tons of thanks Jim and Bob! Please consider doing a video explaining Jim's cell services, and his various hot spots. Thanks.
Bob, I really like your videos and have learned so much from them but when Jim is on he takes it up another level. The solar and especially the cell videos have been a great help Shine on.
Thank you for the educational video. If I understand correctly, my phone can be touching the indoor unit and I can talk on the phone with a blue tooth earpiece. Having phone service is much more important to me than streaming.
Wow, thank you so much for this video. I have a phone I can use for hot spot phone in cradle. I have two phones on MetroPCS (on Tmobile network) so this is perfect. Thank you so much!!
I have the directional one shownin the beguining of video... it boosts cellphone signal and internet signal ( boosts 2 different frequencies basicaly). Used at the country house where both signal were very weak, now its good enough for no dropped calls as well as streaming on the internet at 1.5 Mbps or more. Paid 400$ to Wilson for it 5 years ago and still going strong!
I would have appreciated both or maybe just one system being set up, to show how it was used, and how it worked. There was constant references to hotspots, and I was really unclear what they were and why they are used. And how was the omnidirection antenna used? And even more so, how did Jim find remote masts to focus on with the directional antenna. started with high hopes, but somehow I was left feeling a bit confused and frustrated.
In actual operation we were up at Desoto Springs State Park a couple of weeks ago with our $499 Weboost Drive 4g-X RV cell booster. Both our Verizon and AT+T hotspots were in a fringe area of cell tower signals. Also our Verizon phones would not work inside the RV without our booster turned on. We were able to make phone calls up to 6 ft away from the interior Weboost antenna something the Weboost Sleek can not duplicate under those conditions. Also another advantage of our unit was being able to operate multiple phones at the same time. I do agree for both units the strongest performance will be with the hotspot or phone right next to the interior antenna but the RV unit wins IMHO.
You can use the android phone app Network Cell Info Lite it will find the direction of the cell towers and also the strength of the cell signal from the tower in DBm. It's a free download from Play Store.
I wonder, would all the heat that the Sleek generates be bad for the phone and/or the battery in the long run? Another great and informative presentation guys. Thanks!
The issue about having to place the phone right next to the inside antenna is key here. But, also the fact that you can then use auxillary alternate antennas with the sleek is also key as well. So you can upgrade the sleek accordingly. I was wondering, since the issue is about internal antenna reach to the phone, why not use a home version of the boosters that advertise 1000's of feet of coverage. Use those on an RV/Campervan? My guess is probably the distancd required between the receiving antenna (outisde antenna) needs to be certain distance away from distribution antenna (inside antenna). Since most home installations put the outside antenna on the roof, that makes the inside antenna most likely far away enough not to have the two antennas interfere with themselves, Or, what? Just ordered the sleek, but what was not mentioned in this video is the sleek actually is a 5 band unit vs. many others which only cover 3 bands. So the extra money is also covering that. Because most boosters more than 3 bands ($150 range) are in the $250 range. Great.
Thank you for the video did clarify some questions I had but I think the burning question on here how does Jim get four or five cell services for that little bit of money?! I pay $25 a month on my plan and I do have everything unlimited so I might be able to get away with just that but I would like to know about some other services! So Jim and Bob LOLlet me see a video about that that would be pretty cool thanks again for all your hard work Bob don't worry we know it's your show lol! Happy trails
Hi I wanted to know if there was a wifi extender that I could use to connect to my home wifi that reaches 300ft? Thats how far that my RV is from my apt.
Hello, I bought the drive sleek and the directional antenna but the antenna has coax connection and the sleek has an SMB. Is there an adapter I can get for this? Love your channel! Thanks
I have a question so i am getting prepare to do the Rv living life style instead of buying a home. Question is do you think Rv life is for homeless people ? Or do you think its a real home?
Great, informative video! I'd love to see a diagram or pictures of how you'd set up the sleek in your rv with the antenna. Also, how do you deal with the heat issue on the sleek?
I thought you were also going to compare Omni vs Directional antenna results. -Can you also test for the db gain of the Directional over the Omni? -Obviously Directional is better but I (we) would like to know if not going out as far as you, at what point is the Omni good enough? -Have you tested the 2 Directional antenna setup (1 Vertical and 1 horizontal)? -Is there a 2 Omni antenna setup to increase signal like the dual Directional does?
You can use the android phone app Network Cell Info Lite it will find the direction of the cell towers and also the strength of the cell signal from the tower in DBm. It's a free download from Google Play Store.
It appears the directional antenna has a different connector than the one that comes with the 'sleek' or 'drive' model Is there an adapter or cut and solder proper connector to the coax?
We use a Wilson 46db gain Sleek with a Verizon 18db gain yagi antenna augmented with a 10db gain yagi antenna amplified by a 62db gain Subroad repeater amplifier running all on Visible simed in a Moto e. A GLi VPN modem GL-MT300N V2 running in repeater mode connected to the Moto e hotspot distributes the internet access to our devices. With a 10 mi Verizon cell tower we usually have about 5mb/sec down and upload.
Both units discussed in the video are "Drives". The cheap one is a Weboost Drive Sleek. The more expensive one is a Weboost Drive 4g-X RV. It would be helpful to distinguish the 2 units.
Jim..I get major company discounts from all 4 major carriers and I cannot grab the cheapest plans with same amount of devices in any variation anywhere remotely near $56 total a month... So after my calculator has giving up with worn buttons from all the number crunching, my talks with the carriers, and my brain exhausted... PLEASE explain how someone can have so many devices and only pay such a small fee of $56.00.... Unless you are only paying for device access fees on each hotspot & each cellphone on each plan for being on someone else’s main plan(s)🤔. Please enlighten the rest of us on your secret cellular wizardry you have.
I can't find your previous video, in which you talked about what you used before WeBoost. I believe it was something the phone actually was placed into. Can you help me please?
Does it take a lot of data usage on your Hotspots? My daughter came over to my home because I get my phone through our business which she now manages our Property Management Company since I had to quit working when my pain level got worse and I had my first surgery. She put all my phone services through the internet and our phone bill went down. However I still pay more for my internet service than Jim does. I don’t know how he can get the lower price levels. Just for internet I am paying $64.00 per month. I am using Wavehome. I am curious if AT & T offers better pricing. Maybe it might depend on what I get through their services. But mine is pretty basic as far as I know.
With the invention of five G , the major players in the industry will try to increase coverage. Bad side, it will be like putting humans in a microwave oven. Additionally, weboost makes a 4g home signal booster kit for 300.00. I feel this unit could be used when off grid in the remote areas
You said you spend $56/ month for all carriers, I don't know if you Skype call, is there an update from earlier videos? I recall looking into 1 company, and the deal you got was no longer available.
How about a Video for those of us that want to distance our selves from all this WiFi/cell phone RF which is less then healthy for us. Finding a signal is easy enough but, trying to get away from them not always easy. Any site you are aware of that has minimal to zero RF?

Great, now I feel even more stupid about this than before. I watch the video, they say links are below in the description, I can’t find or see any links. I did find one link but it took me directly to the Weboost website. All I found there was a choice for a complete kit that cost over $500.. Which is the kit they Do NOT Recommend. The other links are for Bobs store, which is fine but this equipment isn’t listed in his store. What am I missing? Ugh, now I’m getting even more frustrated. Good point Weboost recommends at least 15 ft. seperation for ours.

This is my first time watching his video very informative.....plus this man sounds just like Vincent price
LOL He does sound like Vincent Price!!
Thank you Jim and Bob. I always learn something from you. I’m interested as I never want to miss a Denver Broncos game!
Come on Bob, Jim can't be all bad he's wearing a Red Wings sweatshirt!
LOL Jim is the King of Overkill. But he is a wealth of knowledge. It's like an RV version of Star Trek boldly going where no man has gone before. :)
Whoa,,, thanks so much for sharing Jim & Bob,,,
Safe & blessed travel on your all journey,,,
Jim is always full of great information thanks Bob
Thanks Bob and Jim for the info. 👍✋
Thank you for the educational video. If I understand correctly, my phone can be touching the indoor unit and I can talk on the phone with a blue tooth earpiece. Having phone service is much more important to me than streaming.
Would appreciate further details on how he is able to have so many services affordably.
Yes what 3 services does he have for just 56.00 a month. Really want to know. Please tell us.
Great information. Thanks for posting. I knew nothing about how that all worked; now I do!
What phone plans does Jim have that he can get four different plans for 52.00 per month and stream what ever he wants. I WANT THOSE.. thanks.....
Can't believe that stuff wasn't specified. That's what we really want to know.
Kimoto Isn’t it a sim only plan? I’m in the UK so not sure if its the same thing in the US?
Bill Vickers 4
me too, lol.
Thanx Jim & Bob for valuable information.
Exceptional video. Jim is a great addition. Quickly realizing the value of your channel. Much appreciated!
Another excellent, informative video. This sure answers a lot of questions in my mind.
Thank you so much Jim & Bob for saving me a bunch of money 👍👍👍👍👍

Idaho panhandle, Montana, and Wyoming have HUGE areas of no service. 😥
I live NE Montana it sux
Wow that's crazy. It's like going back in time to another world.
Thanks for the great info! Not sure about the Red Wings hoodie, though.
Love the sweat shirt Jim! Wingers fan here!
Nice to meet you Imgood and Imbetter! Imperfect!
Great video! I would love to hear Jim's thoughts on tires for trailers. Thanks!!
Jim seems to be a very experienced wealth of knowledge! Gotta look up his RUclips! Thanks Jim! Thanks Bob! I 👍👍😃
Excellent video, VERY helpful!
Good video but I wish you would have covered aiming the directional antenna.
noyopacific Jim has a two part series on his channel on how to aim the directional antenna. A link to his channel is in the description of this video.
I just love that Jim!!
Good info. Jim, do you have/use a tower map or guide to get your antenna pointed in the correct direction? Thanks
You can use the android phone app Network Cell Info Lite it will find the direction of the cell towers and also the strength of the cell signal from the tower in DBm. It's a free download from Play Store.

When going to your website it said “not secure’ I have,on my Verizon and I also have McAfee, never seen that “not secure” in the address bar??
How can I add a (Wilson) directional antenna to the Weboost Drive Sleek ? (the connectors have changed from the Wilson Sleek version)
Yikes! This might also be the ESP channel. I was just thinking about getting a booster.
Bob and Jim Show, billing should be alphabetical, lol.

Yeah, the real question is where do you get all those services for $52?? That is what everyone wants to know.
Great work. Thank you!
In the UK weboost drive is £450!!!! a lot of money!
I have a question so i am getting prepare to do the Rv living life style instead of buying a home.

Very much a real home.
I have been very happy with Verizon in most of the places I camp at.
Sorry Jim but I just can't justify that much hassle with cell phones. One company is irritating enough

You don't list the emitter in the list of items needed. Does it come with the boosters or what?
