I appreciated this video a lot. I don’t think we have peaceful mornings, but I think it’s because I’m just so tired I wait until the last minute to get up. I don’t feel prepared or mentally ready, and then my temper is short. I’m going to try to wake up earlier and just try to get a more consistent morning routine down.
Same here. I wake up late because I was awake all night tossing and turning and then finally fall asleep and then the morning is messed and my temper is short.
There is a season for everything, and if there are things out of your control that make you too tired to wake before your kiddos (example: you’re waking up to a little one throughout the night, you’re super fatigued from pregnancy, etc), that’s okay! It’s nice to have hours to yourself to get you feeling ready for the day ahead for sure, but sometimes that’s not realistic. So remember all it can take is 5 minutes. 5 minutes to start off well. To gather your tired thoughts, to remind yourself of your goals for the day, to bring the day to the Lord in prayer, or to read something from the word to kickstart your day in the right direction. :)
@@daniela2683 yes, when you see all these people getting up at 6 am & so forth, it feels a bit defeating. This season in my life is difficult right now because for the past like 5 months I've had to deal with my baby waking every 1-3 hours through the night. When 7:30 rolls around I still feel completely exhausted and its difficult to start the morning off on a good note when youre feeling depleted! He also will only nap for about 45 min during the day, so i struggle to find anytime for myself. But i remind myself this wont be forever, although somedays it feels that way
@@daniela2683 I agree with you, Daniela! I wake up with my kids, and I would say I still have very peaceful mornings. Before the kids wake up is a great time to spend time with God, but it's not the only time
Lovely video ❤ I love the fact that you do screen time after 3pm and talked a bit about that. I can also agree that screens earlier in the day definitely do impact the way my toddlers play and interact with eachother and listen to me in a negative way. And my two girls are just like you described your kids - wake up at energy level 100 and go to bed at 100 😅
I think my skin just started aging at maybe 38. If it was before then, I didn't notice it. You look like you might just be 30? Your skin looks very youthful to me. Loved watching you homeschool your kiddos. Even teaching them what a verb is at their age. Wow. I don't think I taught my kids what a verb was until second or third grade! Love how you acted out verbs! Nice! Do you make your kids help clean up the messes they make? I remember starting to do that with my kids once they were two. It started that habit that whenever you take something out, you need to put it away when done with it. Good job in keeping as calm as you can with your kids. That's beautiful. Keep on doing your best.
I love this video is so much! It's so easy to underestimate the power of cutting out screens, but you are so right. Having screen free mornings completely changes the day. I never thought I would be "that" mom, but we don't have a tv anymore, and it has been the best change! My kids play so much more calmly than I thought possible when we were all hooked on screens, and my husband and I actually spend time together in the evenings now! 10/10 recommend
Needed this video today ❤ You bring so much value to your mom community watching. Looking up to you as a new mom trying to find balance in her day! Thank you for this!
I so wish I could get up earlier than my kids but they naturally wake early 5:30ish and I’m still up with my daughter who is 1 in the middle of the night. Even 20 minutes would be nice 😅
But like she said, waking up before your kids is not the ONLY trick to having peaceful mornings. I've always woken up with my kids, and I would describe our mornings as very peaceful! I use a lot of the other strategies she mentioned
@I’d say our mornings are enjoyable just wish I was able to get 20 minutes in before they wake. Kind of like how you have a commute to work , but instead I wake up and bam my day starts right away. The “commute” would be nice. Is what I was saying
This was so encouraging and feels very attainable. I will say, you do an EXCELLENT job keeping it “all” together. I just have one 8 month old and I always feel like there’s never enough time in the day. Tis motherhood, I suppose ♥️
I'm curious, what are you trying to get done in a day? Of course, I don't know your situation, but I know when I feel there's not enough time it's because I'm trying to do too much instead of savoring time with my kids. Just a thought 💕
I don't know if it's something you'd be comfortable doing a video on, but I'd love to see or hear more in depth how you do "school" with your kids (your daily routine, activities, what curriculum you use, etc). My daughter is turning 3 next week & I'm wanting to do something with her just to fill our days with more intentionality, but feel so overwhelmed & don't even know where to start.
Thanks so much for this video, Beth! I definitely find that when I am calm, my toddler is much calmer too! I'm so thankful for Jesus and his grace to help me do this and forgive me when I don't display the fruits of the Spirit. What a wonderful job we get as mothers!
Would love if you’d do a nighttime/ bedtime routine video. Our kids go to bed between 7-8pm and wake at 5am. If only I had 2 or so more hours in the morning. God bless! ❤
How old are your kiddos? My eldest rarely slept in and our mornings would start very much the same, around 6am. It was so so hard. So we set up little ones room with intentional play, and started training our little one to stay in their room until 7:30am. There’s allot of ways to do this, some people use a groclock/ sleep training clock which changes colour when they can come out, or a hatch can do the same thing, or to make a lullaby play, etc. We would just tell our kiddos when they could come out, either through the baby monitor or going to get them. And then lots of positive affirmations after! But it took training, and we practiced quiet time with them gradually building up the time they were in there. Now It’s really amazing because they can wake up and just play in their room while I have a chance to sleep/or get ready for the day etc :)) hope this helps!
Our mornings also start around 6 and my 23 month old goes to bed around 19h30. Those extra 2 hours would mean i could dp bible time, clean ,exercise and shower . Or I can try wske at 4am 😢
My kids have so much energy and don’t fall asleep until after 9 most nights - and all 3 are often up in the night as well… so I feel like most parents pay the price somewhere hahah 😂
Thank you for this insight!! My first is only 8 months with baby #2 on the way. I really haven’t learned yet that I am not a slave to my surroundings and I can have a peace from Jesus that overpowers and withstands overstimulation. Excited to get to practice that
Love your videos!! I know you already have posted about breastfeeding a while back, but I would love to see your updated breastfeeding /bottle feeding journey with your baby🥰
Lovely video! I also find that limiting screen time until the afternoon works better for my family. My 3 yo doesn’t even ask for it in the morning and by the time the afternoon comes, she watches TV for a little and then goes off to play. There is something about not overstimulating our kids so early that makes the rest of the day a bit better in my opinion.
Interested in checking out the preschool curriculum you use ! Did you officially start it in the fall when your children are 3? My little guy just turned 3 in December and I definitely want to do this but thinking it’s best to start in the fall. Any tips ? Seems like the curriculum starts with fall theme ?
Dear Beth, I have a 16-month-old daughter who is a real morning lark. She gets up almost every morning between 5:30-6:00am. It's not the time, it's that she's tired and fussy in the morning and early morning. I've read a lot of articles, I'm done with them ...I'd rather listen to real parents' opinions now. Do you have any advice on how I can help him with this? Or should I just get used to it? Thank you for your answer.
My mornings are definately not calm.. (Have 2 years old and a 7 months old) Sometimes i feel myself as a victim and dont want to start the day, as its gonna be the same over and over... I feel not ready to wake up earlier because I breastfeed several times in the night😩
