Only video I can find on the subject and it answered my questions. Thanks!
This video helped me big time, I had my 3-4 clutches fuse to the steels and it spun some of them around and really gouged up the inside of the drum, I ended up using the drum from a Ole trans I had kicking around but I had to swap the shafts. I reinstalled mine using red lock tite on the splines and installed it to a depth of .47 inches. That's the reading I got off the other 2 setups before i made it all 1. So thank you man, your the only video I could find on this subject. 🙌
Can you do a video on the installation of the input shaft?
Great vid
How do I keep breaking my input shaft. Broke 3 in a year. 08 silverado 5.3 10lb boost. Only 350hp.
Thanks for sharing!!! Having to swap out input shaft myself at the moment. Input shaft on the drum I used, out of an '06, on a recent rebuild doesn't have reluctor wheel for the ISS. ('07 Tahoe) Throws a P0717 instantly...My mistake for not paying closer attention...Live and learn lol Thanks again.
No problem
@@hoodstarperformance4758 I measured the depth of the input shaft before removal, after I watched your video. Just curious, have you ever seen a spec for the input shaft install?? I have quite a bit of info like ATSG, GM service info, etc. But I have searched high an low and haven't found any measurements for this. I just reinstalled shaft to same depth as it was, but I'm just curious if there's even a spec out there...
I mean, if she air checks through vb plate and endplays good ima send it lol just wondering tho
One mechanic said he prefers JB weld instead of the red lock tight to seal up the shaft, he said the JB weld grabs the metal better especially on worn drums. Also the drum should be trashed if the shaft comes out to easy.
That makes sense. Thanks
@@hoodstarperformance4758 btw Heat that drum up in the oven for about 30min to an hour before you press in the shaft that way more of whatever you're sealing it with gets in between the the metals. I just did one two days ago at 250 degrees and no leaks, shaft seems like it's welded to the drum now I'm also gonna press in that Sonnax reinforcement ring. Should hold a lot of power.
Good content brother and thank you kindly
Thanks you’re welcome
Where did you apply loctite?
What is your press called?
Where did you add the loctite? Was it on the shaft above the holes that go into the drum?
How do you know when it need servicing or replac?
Air leak check. It’s good to do it anytime you have it torn apart.
@@hoodstarperformance4758 ok cool... im trying to narrow down my problem. Mine has a kind of mild whine only in nuetral and park and has no shift problems at all. The noise goes away as soon as I put it in gear. Would could it possibly be?
@@chronic8660 the bearing on top of the input shaft is known for causing the wine in neutral and park. You can follow and dm me on instagram if you have more questions. @hoodstarperformance
@@hoodstarperformance4758 thanx!! Definitely gonna follow you.
