Making Full Brogue Goodyear Welted Leather Shoes Nelibar - Handmade Shoes For Men
Nelibar - Handmade Leather Shoes is a company based in Sahiwal ( Pakistan ) making superior quality handmade leather shoes & slippers since 1970s.
Our forefathers have been involved in this industry for over fifty years and were highly skilled in this industry. But a few decades ago, where there were tremendous advances in every sphere of life, machines replaced humans. Similarly, the footwear industry has been in a state of decline due to the influx of Bhimshins. But now, a few years ago, the demand for handmade shoes has increased tremendously. Previously, our business events were limited to the local market. But now that the world has become a village in the age of the Internet, we have stepped into the world of the Internet to promote our business circle of friends.

    Dear shoemaker
I happened to watch how these handmade shoes were made. I was amazed at first, but then I quickly realized that this was not a skilled craftsman who had learned his trade from the ground up. I once had the opportunity to watch a shoemaker in China making welted shoes according to the original Bally Scribe of Switzerland construction by hand. He told me that an Italian had taught him how to do this and I was amazed that such a thing existed. He sold the shoes for about USD 150.-- and he worked for 3 days on a pair of men's shoes. He was not alone, he had about 15 men and women making the shoes. I was amazed at his shoes, they were so soft and flexible in the sole despite the double bottom construction with real leather soles.
I don't want to criticize your shoes but just to say it still takes a lot until your shoes are like a masterpiece.

thanks for the nice video! it looks like you have a hard time welting though. maybe it was never shown to you properly?
not to criticize but maybe i have some helpful tips: the awl that you use is actually a solestitching awl like the one you used for sewing on the outsoles. a welting awl also has a flat blade but 90° in the other direction. so when you poke through the holdfast, you create a horizontal hole instead of a vertical one. this is better for durability as you have a thicker portion of the holdfast and insole left uncut and you dont have to carve your holdfast so deep, leaving more insole thickness.
also the shape of your awl influences the way you actually stitch. i can see its difficult to get your needles through at the same time. this is because you dont have that flat, horizontal hole that guides the needles left and right, next to each other. instead, this hole you made wants to guide the needles on top of each other (which is how the outsoles are sewn). also, i love using needles instead of bristles for welting too! but you actually dont really need them to go through simultaniously. you can round of the points so they dont poke the thread and do one after the other in a saddle stitch style - that said i would REALLY recommend bristles (out of wire for example) for outsole stitching (they are way less pain in the ass)!
lastly why do you use the awl from the outside inwards? you have prepoked holes in the insole. poke from the inside out, use those holes as a guide when welting and you get very clean and durable results! this way you can really play with the tension you put on the welt as you go around. poke threw holdfast and upper and then you can pull or push the welt a bit and directly put it on top of your awl and do the next stitch - also very important for a clean and durable welting :) best regards

These shoes are hand welted. Much superior to a Goodyear welted construction.
Take credit for making quality hand welted shoes.
    Far superior to goodyear welt.
