- The new Citroen C3 follows a lineage of some great cars. It's got a punchy 1.2-litre turbo engine or the option of an NA 1.2 too, and a quirky design. However, when you step in to the C3, you are left wanting for more. Yes, the basics are there, but it lacks a few creature comforts that would have made it even better. Cyrus Dhabhar takes out the new Citroen C3 for a spin in Goa to find out if it's desi mainstream, or French quirky!

Am a Proud Owner of a Citroen C3 turbo for a almost a month now. Dad has a Vento tdi. This mini Citroen is phenomenal in every sense i.e i just know I've made the right decision by choosing it over all the compact SUVs n hatchbacks available in India.
C3 does the basics of a car brilliantly and i am seriously impressed with this.

You are right. It's a basic car with a really good engine in terms of spec. I think thats what they intended to give.
No Alloys,Rear wash and wipe,Sunroof,Adjustable Headrests front and rear seat,No Projector or led HEADLIGHTS,Power mirrors switch and power windows switch buttons are from old santro sing,Lots of cost cutting like Speedometer and Mid is too small,No keyless entry, engine start stop,auto dimming irvm,Zero Citroen Dealer in NorthEast

Sunroof, projector led, keyless entry and auto dimming irvm are not common in its segment but the rest along with that door handle are big omissions that ever customers would want. They could have give a normal day night adjustable irvm right. Why does everything has to feel cheap.
@@jomalsanish i think you are mistaking this car for the wrong segment. this car will go head to head against swift, punch and other 5 to 10L cars.
Some of the things you mentioned are found in cars costing above 10 lakhs. But I do agree that there are some glaring omissions

190Nm at 1750rpm and 109 at 5500rpm is no joke. When was the last time we saw this figure in a 10lak car? Never !
I reckon even if this car doesn't sell well (I really hope it does) this will definitely be a serious hot hatch among enthusiast.

You forgot the Figo Diesel.
I like the split power window controls. The rear passenger as well as the front passengers can control the rear windows. I think that's a neat way to avoid having multiple controls
You can have that on the drivers side too.
@@CyrusDhabhar What if the rear left passenger wants to use. I think it's a smart way of providing access to both front and rear passengers.
I can live with the lack of many new gen features, but with that ugly speedo console they have shat all over the place. They could have simply gone with old age, full manual console with needles for speedo and tacho. WagonR has better (looking) console then.

everything is fine.....I hope the cost cutting did not creep into body stabilization or internal frame strength.
Don't judge c3 with luxury features, people who looking for pure driving experience go for it
Attractive/ desirable design,good handling,good comfort,powerful A.C,good music system,good fit and finish,safety.. these are enuf 👍👍 I think if Citroen price it well then they made it 👍👍👍

Cyrus, I have a feeling that this s going to be a huge hit. I say this because I feel they will have a killer pricing and boy Citroen's comfort will become the talk of the town. Something like the Germans did with Polo. A USP

The price and the promotion will decide its fate...lack of features though a deal breaker for many ..if citreon offers few accessories as add ons they can hit decent numbers....we definitely need more competition in our market for our own good..
For me, The lack of rear wash and wipe is a safty hazard, esp in a hatchback

If the turbo variant comes under 10, this could be a winner but Citroen should expand the services network to tier 2 and 3 cities.

I don't think the top end model (turbo petrol) is going to be cheap, so why do we miss out on Alloy wheels, central locking, electric adjustable ORVM, Auto AC, rear defogger with wiper and a old school instrument cluster with dials and small MID. I think these are few things Citroen must consider as this is a 2022 car, not one from 2010.

May a citroen c3 aircross model will have features and Automatic gearbox option in the future like after 6 months
It's a good vehicle. good suspension , seat comfort, good pickup , handling. bad bits are gear box , brakes feel spongy , service is on-site etc.
I’ve been admiring that orient kamatsu red over and over again in recent videos and it’s grown on me (don’t sue me if that isn’t an orient kamatsu tho)

Give me old-school beautiful analog dials with a small info screen than this all-digital garbage and I would buy this anyday but I guess in this age where people are slapping stupid colour screens on their wrists, I might be asking for too much.
And please, they need to get rid of those gaudy orange accents. When new, they might be a novelty. Give them a couple of years and they become an eyesore.
Dear Mr Vincent Cobee. I can compromise on all the launch revelations of the C3 provided it comes with a disruptive pricing. However, the one thing I cannot compromise is the lack of electrically adjustable ORVMS. Ofcourse availability of AT is also a big miss as a lot of elderly and female customers will look elsewhere. Remember that gearless scooters revolutionized the popularity and sales among the elderly and the female clients.
Yeah except there's a grand total of less then 25 showrooms in India. Most of them in Metro cities.
Us in tier 2/3 cities are outta luck. The nearest showroom from the ENTIRETY of North East India is at Kolkata 😭

I was looking forward to this car to replace my Figo s. but it seems I am going to keep my Figo S for a considerable more time.
The question though is when an Indian manufacturer misses these basic features they ll be ridiculed left right and centre for it but when a foreign manufacturer is doing it we shud focus on the good bits ?
With it's claimed level of comfort, this could be where duster left us. A little smaller ofcourse.

Engine is made in India as well. I guess only certain electronic components are imported.
i compared many cars with citreon, tata engine worst, baleno no build quality options more, if u go breeza base model lack of features missing , price base model 10 lakhs, mahindra also nearly 10 lakhs base model lack of features missing. then citreon 9.65 lakhs turbo , engine super and build quality is impressive then why no to buy citreon, dont compare with maruthi tin ka dabba.

You know what the biggest miss is? an IRVM dipper tab!!
Is this cost cutting seen in the interiors a french custom or standing rule for them? Because i saw it in the duster too even though the awd used to cost 17 lacs on road.

With 20 dealerships across India.. They expect people to buy even 7-9 lac rupee car.. On road.. With already commented by many here the list of basic features deffoger n corner stability Alloys automatic AC reverse camera inner rear view mirror having no day night..
After tuning the engine n suspension I guess they thought Indian car buyers will be happy to book car with 20 dealerships
This segment cars already in market has big demand in tier 2 and tier 3 cities were their is no citroen showrooms yet.
It better be priced at 5-8 L or else it is a big fail
I like this , especially the turbo version, but it will be pricey. Tata punch is still amazing though
No center armrest, unattractive center console, and those prongs for adjusting mirrors.. only minus points in this car.

This is a Mass market car for citroen especially considering Tata Punch & maruti's hatch's. This is going to touch every segment of cars under sub 10 Lacs.
If the 4 cylinder 1.2 engine & driving dynamics are good major shares of Punch is going to be affected!!!

Yeh kya bawasir bana diya hain? The ride might be very good.. But essential features.. Like an optional led lighting setup... Or bare minimum features like a tachometer, climate control ac, rear wiper and defogger..and adjustable headrests are missing..If they don't sell it at a giveaway price.. They'll be having a difficult time.. And may shift to selling butter croissants.. Literally 😂😂

At least Citroen gave a good pair of engines unlike Tata's pathetically underpowered and unrefined engine. Let's not talk about reliability. Citroen still has to prove it. Tata has already proven how unreliable they are. Only thing that Tata can brag about is safety.
Absolutely not. In fact, I love the Punch for what it offers. Apart from the engines.

@@CyrusDhabhar What about Tata's reliability? We have a Nexon and an Altroz in our family which are a pain to own. Having owned multiple Marutis, one Hyundai and 2 Chevrolets in the past, we do understand the peace of mind we get in owning reliable vehicles. Both me and my dad got carried away with their 5 star safety rating and went for a Nexon and Altroz respectively. That was a mistake.
