Thank you
In this video I quick show you one of the common causes for the Insignia power loss/limp mode accompanied by the P2282-52 trouble code.
Thank you for watching!
Like always, thank you for watching!
Bought recently an insignia from a guy who said it cannot be repaired and the turbo is gone. Paid him 1500 pounds for a 09 reg with 76000 miles on dash and broken turbo. Did the tests and found the same fault, replaced the pipe and car now drives like new and no codes or limp mode coming back. Very lucky buy I would say. :)
Indeed! Just don't tell him what the problem was... lol
Glad you got it sorted...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Dude you are an absolute legend. This video has identified the problem that has me already £400 down, and been stressing the hell out of me. With a house move in 2 days, you have just saved me from a heart attack. Good luck and success in all you do.
Hi
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Glad to know that my video has helped you.
That's the reason why I do them...
All the best!
If I recall correctly, at the time I had the DS708... I no longer have that tool, I now have the MS908P...
But you should be able to use other tools, including OP-COM...

Just a quick update. I have ordered a new hose but took the old one off last night ( through the NS fog lamp hole). i cleaned the pipe up with a brillo pad and Fairy Up liquid and removed all the oil and dirt. Dried it and glued the split ( 1") with superglue. I then stuck a rubber patch on ( similar to a push bike inner tube repair) after this i wound gaffer tape around and over the patch and its cured the car with no codes appearing this morning. will replace the pipe when it arrives. Thanks again Dave.
Thanks for letting us know...
I believe that is a great temporary fix... because the hose is already weakened, it will eventually split again.
Nevertheless, you thought outside the box, and that's good!
After market replacement pipe did fix issue for some time. In my example burst of pipe was possibly caused by clogged DPF, when replaced pipe 10 days drive and car started random short stalls when driving on low RPM. Few more days and DPF clogged message....
Cleaning DPF does help but for very short time so make sure your engine is free of fault causing DPF clogs and you still have to replace your DPF or its a shor time solution.
Good advice!
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Thank you very much, i wach your channel from Spain..

This was exactly my issue, thanks very much for the video - my car is running perfectly again!
That's great... thank you for watching and for your feedback...
👍👍👍
Just had the same issue, replaced the original 2009 pipe with an aftermarket one. Other symptoms might be smell of smoke getting inside when the engine heats up, and quite possibly a lot of smoke coming out the back (got some flashes from behind, on the road). The check engine light might come up and remain permanent until cleared with obd interface, if the difference of pressure is extreme. Cost me around 90 EUR part+labor. Takes a max of 1h to replace.

Hi
That is great!
Thank you for watching for the feedback!
Yes very common fault , best way is to smoke test system good find pal
Thanks!
Thank you very much buddy. Just found the split on pipe after watching your video; My local mechanic couldn’t diagnose it.
That's great... I mean, that you found the issue! 😋
It is not difficult to change...
Hope you get it sorted!
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Same prob happened to me , also had an high temperature of exhaust gas, and i didn't understand why the engine temp gauge on the display would show 130degree celcius when the coolant temp was about 90....
Yeah my 2009 insignia 2.0 had the same issue the rubber split and was putting it into limp mode. As you said strange thing was it was clearing itself. Common issue on these cars.
Mine is now loosing power when cranking the engine mimicking a flat battery but it’s not because I’ve checked the battery and all is fine with voltage etc
Another common one is the rubber pipe splitting between the rubber/metal connection with the power steering system. It’s a lovely car with plenty of power when working correctly but it’s riddled with common faults Vauxhall apparently know nothing about. Luckily I used to be a Vauxhall fitter and I worked for network Q.
I’ve changed plenty of parts in this car another major fault is there is a rubber seal in the sump that allows oil flow through the engine but at about 100000 miles it becomes brittle and can cause the engine to seize. 100000 miles for a Diesel engine is very poor tbh they usually keep going and going.
My advice get rid of the insignia!!!!!
I’ll let you know what the issue was with the loss of power on starting. Great video 👍
Hi
Let us know then...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
LM Auto Repairs will do thanks for the reply 👍
Update on the loss of power issue while starting. The battery on the Vauxhall insignia isn’t great either it registers it’s fine and good even the green indicator on the top of the battery says it’s fine but it isn’t. I’ve been looking at it this weekend and found out the battery had been in the vehicle over 5 years which is the max life for a battery and needs replacing. I’ve replaced the Battery and the vehicle starts first time every time without loss of power. Problem solved 👍
So if your Vauxhall insignia suddenly has a loss of power on starting even through you’ve had the battery checked by a mechanic and they say it’s fine It isn’t good it needs replacing. Yet another gremlin with this car.
@@madmikeproductionsuk
That's great!
Bad batteries can cause indeed all sort of issues!

hi i have diagnosed the split. just need someone experienced like you to change it.
I am seeing P2282 and P0404 in scanning report for my opel corsa 2012 diesel. Local mechanic is recommending to replace mass flow sensor but I feel it won't get my car out of limp mode. I couldn't find crack in mass flow pipe, please help me.
I have exactly the same issue on my insignia. Happy to remove and fit a new pipe, just don’t know what it is called. Can anyone kindly advise or send a link? Much appreciated
Great job!!!
Thanks!

Annoying code! Had just like you did cleaned up everything but the problem were still there.. I will try to find any cracks in the morning 😊
Is this problem applying only for insignia 2.0 cdti 2009 ?
I had this problem aswell.
Is the "sound" like a sort of whistling, like an old school turbo charger used to make? If so I am also a victim hehe.
Is not my hose...what else?
I guess un boost the air leaking at the split can hav a venturi pump effect and flow more than normal...maybe

I actually do work on cars as a part time... some people go to the pub, I do cars... lol
So, you say that the problem is the DPF sensor, how have you diagnosed that?
By the way, I am far away from London anyway...
Hi
I had all of these issues.
Got DPF and hose pipe all sorted and the car drove ok for almost two week but the same fault is back and limp is even stronger than before.
Getting error P2282. Please advise what else do I need to check for this
Hi I've had same problem ended up changing my mass flow sensor first then found split in pipe because of your other video (Which I am truly grateful 🙏) just changed pipe with new 1 jumped in car still now power at all car slowly got worse gone from loosing power round 60mph to now even after changing pipe got now power from first gear? Please can u help do I need to plug it in to clear faults? I hope it's not a turbo surly can't be both

If you replaced the MAF, there is a procedure to reset it...
Scan the car also, and check live data, that should indicate where the issue might be...

My one same age, driving lost turbo, checked pipe and had crack, replaced pipe and 10 days later DPF clogged up, cleaned DPF and 2 weeks later giving me random 0.5 second stalls usually when driving constantly same speed or low RPM - think this might be pressure related, too much pressure build up - maybe DPF clogged more again ? 13 plate sri diesel, 175000, trouble free its entire life, but what if you change the pipe and still get the error for time to time, others things I've noted is,
excessive amounts of fuel, and burning a but of oil
Double check the intake system, and then I would be inclined to inspect the turbo...

do any of you know the fault code 5121
Hello mate,

Hello ….
Hope u are in good health
I have DPF warning on my vauxhall insignia 2009
I went to local workshop, they asking 300 pounds to clean and clear the warning which is way beyond my budget
The car runs perfect so far even at speed of 70 miles with RPM upto 2-3. No limp mode
Need your advice

Depends why the warning came up...
If is saying is getting clogged, soon or later will put you into limp mode...
If there is something else... do you know what was the faults logged?

Can i clean the DPF myself or should be done from a workshop
I have seen few videos which said that driving for some 30 minutes on motorway, with DPF cleaner in fuel tank, will clear the DPF and warning will go away

Without knowing exactly what the car is complaining about, it is difficult to tell...
I had this issue less than an year ago, replaced the hose, job done. Yesterday I've removed the egr and egr pipe to clean (as I've done before twice) put everything together, go for a drive and now I'm getting this error! Don't want to believe it's the hose again, there's no oil on the pipe also. Any ideas?
Have you properly checked it?
Double check that the egr is correctly fitted, and that you have not missed anything...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
@@LMAutoRepairs Yesterday I have checked if the hose had any split and it didn't, it's looking brand new..
It might be the egr pipe or the egr not sitting flush, I'll have a look this weekend again. Do you know if it's common the egr pipe to leak or to be broken? Regards

@@LMAutoRepairs I've double checked the egr pipe again and one of the gaskets (I have 2 gaskets, cause I have a egr blanking plate) wasn't fitted properly hence the boost leak. Hope this info will help someone in the future. Thanks for your help.

Hello... I've experienced service soon message and check engine light after about half an hour. On diagnosis the fault is p2282...so air leak. So I've took a look under the bonnet and didn't find the split intercooler hose, and then i've took the car for a ride...even managed to reach 200km/h. So my question would be...can you reach this amount of speed with engine in limp mode and split intercooler pipe?
Update!!!
i think it was my turbo actuator that modifies the variable geometry of the turbo.
i've deleted the error and with a steel rod i've repetedly pushed the actuator on all it's travel. now the car drives just fine and is quick in low rpm, like before te error.
since then i've driven over 200km and it didn't show up again, the error i mean.
by all, safe roads!

Hello m8,
I've tryed to get service light off manualy, but with no succes. Do you think I need a profesional electrician to have a look to my siggy?
Veaceslav Voinovan
Hi
It might be that the service light is on not because the service is due, but because there is a issue somewhere.... have the car scanned... that will quick tell you why the light is on...
As a workaround, would you recommend tape the leaks (with a good scotch-tape)?
Xeio De Sono
You can try... but don't think it will last...

Hi I this info on the dashboard I've just check by the finger this pipe - by touch I didn't find any crack but it is oily near to plastic on top do you think that this it is a bit oily is correct or it can be slightly broken and I need to investigate it deeper? I maybe try to film it by phone maybe to see/ sometimes they say it is glowplug issue too - the info appears when is colder weather maybe because material shrinks and vanish - thanks for video very helpful
If is a small split, will might only be noticeable under pressure...
Do a more thoroughly inspection, just to make sure...

The car is for sale and is thinking of buying it but is a bit worried there might be something major. Timing belt and all the rest of it was done a year ago. Oil seal for oil pump in the crankcase was done as well.

Hi there, dumb question, if I change the pipe myself, how can i get rid of the warning sign. Will it go away on its own or do i need to take it to the local garage to reset it? Thanks a lot for the video btw! 👍

Hi, I recently had a split pipe which I’ve since replaced. The reason I knew is that the revs were higher than they were before. However, despite replacing the same pipe in your video, the revs are still higher. I’ve had the car checked for vacuum leaks and scanned by three mechanics who are unable to find any faults. I’ve also replaced the map sensor, egr and cleaned the egr pipe but it’s still the same. I’ve also checked for leaks around the intercooler outlet pipe connected to the throttle body but couldn’t find any.The car used to cruise on the motorway at 70 mph in sixth at 1500 rpm but it now sits around 1800-1850 rpm. Have you ever come across this issue before? Thanks

That is strange... If is reeving higher while cruising I would suggest some sort of slipping...

I've heard it's only Vauxhall dealers that have the diagnostic software that can tell you everything about the fault though? Is that true? MDI software or something.
Will a mobile auto electrician have suitable software to clear the code do you think? It's on a 2012 GTC.

Hi
Any mobile diagnostics will have the tool to clear the codes...
Indeed is the MDI tool that is used by the dealer, however, other tools will be capable of reading the codes from the ecu, read live data etc... so, is not just the dealer that is capable of reading, delete or deal with any faults on the Vauxhall/Opel cars...
Hope that helps...
