@@pauliman6257 it’s what I have been using for the last 10 years. Great controller, but having some more info with color lcd displays is something I’m after, plus the slimmer profile and moving away from Avid as much as I can. Though for someone looking for something competitive even if older yours is a great suggestion 👍🏻🙌🏻
The features they did and the stuff you asked for have been the elephant in the room for controllers for decades. If I see the integration you asked for I will buy both. Thanks Dom. BTW some third party devs are working on similar things for other consoles, but none comes close to this level of refinement.
HOLY CRAP, we've hit the motherlode! This could be the first time in years I actually have a reason to ditch my Qcons and all the Mackie protocol limitations for a controllerthat actually works with Cubase. I love my CC121 too but I want more faders! Perhaps this will give other manufacturers a kick up the rear.
I checked it out. This looks great. The Swedish company Softube appears to offer a bundle of the faders and the console for roughly $1,700 right now (mid Sept 2024). So, if you are already using one of the DAW talking to/from this product (who knows? Probably any major DAW), and especially Cubase, as I am, then this is pretty amazing for getting console function going.
this controller sounds so cool. especially the haptic feedback part. So useful for someone like me who is blind. I hope Softube made sure this and the Console One Channel MKIII has support for screen readers. They did a great job for the previous version. :-)
Apologies for OT. Hey Dom, I just had occasion to research some instruments offered to me free and went ‘off-Dom’ as long as I could take it. I’m spoiled rotten getting my demos from you. Thanks for the towering excellence of your musicianship, creativity. The combination is quite rare in the realm of demos and engages me in just the way I need. All the best, Peter.
I was looking into getting the SSL stuff over the last couple of months. I still have a working CC121 but since there is no replacement available I was looking for possible candidates. Luckily I never impulse buy stuff so after seeing this one announced I finally took time to go through videos about it's Cubase integration. THIS IS HUGE! Thanks for posting about this, even with the latency and limit to 100 channels this is the ONLY controller that behaves the way it should in Cubase. Now it's on my list :)
The AVID Artist Mix and the more modern version auto-bank to channels. You can also lock a fader to a single channel. You can also control quick controls. You really need to try one Dom! It's this.. but better. And it has no problem with giant track counts.
I’ve never used a controller that does NOT bank in ProTools. My experience is limited to ProTools so I don’t know if this is a Cubase thing. Controller channels that don’t bank would be a nightmare!
I don’t think the avid comes with emulations of compressors, eq’s, drive etc, that Softube offers? You’d have to map those to it, I guess? What I love about c1 is that I always know which knob to turn, as their system is so well thought out. I like the Softube channel strips so much, that, apart from creative effects (soundtoys) and reverb (liquidsonics) on the c1’s sends, I only use softube for mixing.
Of course, a possible full review would be interesting. Finally an interesting controller that could be considered as a replacement for the already retired SAC 2.2. Thanks Dom!

Ha, you beat me to it Rico! Yes, Avid has had this for years with Eucon integration...the Artist and S-series have done this for a while. But they're very pricey and Eucon has always felt a bit PT centric. Very excited about this...
Absolute agreement with setting up any/all cc's. GOT to be simple addition, they had to send SOME controller data anyhow.. Nice intro. I don't use Cubase, but this could convince me. This IS something i used to spend days setting up with my keyboards. Great potential product and excellent review.

I got the channel first, but then the fader and having both of them makes everything so much easier because I can see my tracks names and the output volumes in one go without having to look up at the screen. I do hope they build a transport system with R W Play Stop etc though.
I pretty much agree and like what I see there. I'd like to see at least 8 programable encoder knobs because I prefer this for panning and some other adjustments more than faders.
Thanks for the preview. I've been looking forward to this controller for a few months now. However, after watching it, I am worried if I will be able to use it like the previous version 😲. I will probably be one of the few who is perfectly comfortable with using the console1 plugin. In my workflow, I only use it for quick controlling groups or some selected channels and I don't want it to follow other faders. For single tracks I use my beloved Steinberg CC121.
Man i dont think i can add another USB device to my rig, but im starting to make plans to get rid of some USB hookups so i can take advantage of softubes amazing devices. Yes to the review!
Thanx, Dom, for wonderful preview! Is really Very interesting and progressive controller. It would be interesting to know the availability and cost of the device.
The track selection is the winner. Still core problem remains that all these devices sit where your keyboard and mouse need to be, and you need both keys and console to mix and change things like plugin settings etc. Unless you have a massive desk not a valid option IMHO.
Have to say that this looks amazing!!!! BUT? It is bound to be expensive, and probably way out of my budget? It is good though. Thanks Dom for sharing this with us. Cheers!
This is nice stuff. I'm familiar with flying faders, but this is really different. Really need to work with Logic Pro X and all Keyboards. Very interesting.
Ha Ha!!! I laughed out loud when I saw the colour change. As it's a flashy green colour, it's quite easy to change the colour with Resolve or Premiere.
Almost perfect - thank you Dom. But where are the transport-buttons? Or did the both of the new Softube Consoles fit on the Steinberg CC121 as the old ones do? I'd really appreciate the full review !!!
Many good features in Softube CONSOLE 1 fader, but one thing I am missing is the sync with Cubase Mixer and the fader unit, specifically when hiding channels it does not hide the channels in the fader unit. Hope they fix this soon. After testing it seems to work only in Logic Pro X and Pro Tools, but other DAWs it does not.
My ssl nucleus used to do all of that 10 years ago ! Apart from the clipping thing of course! But you didn’t need to put any plugins in the saw first and it would jump to the selection , nothing new there ! Must say it does look good though-)
I would love this for live mixing when using a rack mixer and an iPad. It’s so much better to have real faders under your fingertips. I wonder if that would be possible??
A CC button next to each fader would be so practical, rather than a missed opportunity. If that happened, I would buy it. At the moment it has no benefit to me, I'm sad to say. Let's hope Softube picks up on this. I'm glad you have the same thoughts Dom.
The good news is this is not a missed opportunity. Softube can easily use a combination of keys (eg shift+fader) and give us this function in the future :)
@@DomSigalas As stated, let's hope so. Just one button near the faders without having to keep going into sub menus all the time. CC control has always been a priority with orchestral composing. My BCF 2000 and Korg Nano Kontrol serve me well.

@@DomSigalas I totally agree with you Dom, for sure. An extra 'CC' button just under the 'MUTE' button maybe? Could surely not be hit by accident? Like I said, if that was implemented, maybe in the MKIV, I would buy it for sure. This MKIII has already been pressed out in the design shop, so it won't happen with this one. Don't get me wrong, it looks absolutely great with Cubase integration, I wonder if it does so in Wavelab 12 Pro? I nearly bought the MKII, but was told to wait and have a look at the MKIII, glad I did.
Yes, full review, please. Question: Can the Fader MK3 be used (its faders that is) for gain-staging as well (not only Valume)? Using Cubase 13 I hate to "pick and flicker" between Tracks just to access the Gain-knob for each track.
Looks a great controller but, as someone else has also noted, the Avid S1 already does channel following and pretty much all that has been noted here (except the haptic stuff) without having a plugin on each channel, so it's not the only one out there. I use 4 to give me a 32 channel desk, allowing me control Cubase and any plugin, all fully integrated via Eucon.
I have used the Avid Eucon. Two problems though: 1. It’s primarily targeted towards PT users 2. The new models have this iPad slot that i for one would hate to see on my desk every day without an iPad attached to it. 3. You need an iPad to get the most out of it 4. If you want to get the nice old Eucons you have to buy second hand and with no warranty. And their faders are prone to failing from what is being said. 5. If you have the S1 and love it this is AMAZING news . I was considering it for ages I won’t lie so I see your point 100% If was using PT I would probably evaluate this differently but for Cubase the Softube is a winner once the software is finalized ;)
@@DomSigalas Oh absolutely - there are some things about my set up that could be better, but all in all it works great for me and does what it says on the tin pretty much every day so its an option. The softube kit does look amazing though i have to say. Love the channel - I buy a lot of my gear and software because of your reviews including my amazing studiomaster Commander 2.0 desk - so keep em coming buddy :D
Hey Dom, got the dominator desk and Console 1 but not yet the fader, I'm here because I'm interested in how you've arranged it on your desk, especially since we need to access the front rack desk. I was considering stacking it to the left or placing it side by side above the computer keyboard. Not sure, any though or a video where we can see what you've done?
Is there a way to connect one button to the listen button in cubase? I use the listen button all the time when I'm mixing to lower the volume of all other channels by 3 db to focus more on that channel and still hear it in context.
Holy cow, this is huge! Im so happy to have a innovative audio company like this based in my hometown!
We need a full review, for sure!!

If was using PT I would probably evaluate this differently but for Cubase the Softube is a winner once the software is finalized ;)
Literally every controller out there can follow selected channel. My yamaha 01v96 from 15 years ago as just one exemple 😅
obviously we need YOUR full review!
