- Melissa Rory may seem like your average MaxTac agent, but did you know that she was actually the cyberpsycho featured in Cyberpunk 2077's 2013 trailer, and talking to her in the game will reveal that she's not quite cured.
#shorts #gaming #cyberpunk2077
Love how they reference things in this game constantly, this one being the character from a really old trailer
It's such a great reference, and isn't even the only one in the quest, 'Bullets' isn't just the name of the mission, but it's also the name of the music used in the original trailer!
Reds made Witcher (game series) so nothing weird for them to do.
And the mission name is the song they used in the trailer
That's one reason the game is, and always was great.
It's not what they promised, but as someone who's not jumping on any hype wagon, I'm free from things like this. 🙌🏻
I'm also old enough to know that graphics aren't all that makes a good game. I started gaming on a 64x64 pixels display and had the greatest times of my life doing that. ✌🏻🥹
@@dezpotizmOFheavenI am glad it's closer to witcher than to gta. I guess people expected the opposite.
It would actually make sense for max-tac to hire rehabilitated Cyberpsychos (spelt wrong im sure) but if it is possible for some to heal after going full on Psycho, then their experience in understanding victims would be greatly needed. Understanding the psyche of who you are dealing with would prove vital.
Cyberpsychos can be captured and healed, in rare cases. Rare in part because MAXTAC only captures those who impress them instead of killing them.
Marry a crazy woman and you'll come home from work to find that she drowned all your kids in the bathtub
Depends on how much cred u have, ie need lvl 20 to get heavy duty subdermal aug, to be even considered for max tech due to its comparable ability to actual agents
It's implied that most (if not all) Max-Tac agents were the crazed citizens that were put down.
They're not meant to be "cured," that would reduce their effectiveness; all they have to do is obey orders. When so much of them is metal, it's not hard to _make_ them obey.
Always remember that Cyberpsychosis is not one disease, it's a selection of symptoms out of a larger pool that result in a loss of self. The cure is extensive, expensive therapy.
I think they already do. I was doing one cyber psycho mission near Judy’s apartment where you kill a npcd or max tax sergeant who lost her mind or something and they already knew she was cyber psycho or was showing symptoms and instead of sending help, they sent a execution squad to kill her. You can find dead officers and soldiers around the area and pick up a shard that has orders saying to kill her. Pretty sad imo. I kind of hope technology in real life doesn’t go that far even though we’re just grasping it
I did this quest completely by mistake. I went to buy clothes and the store got shut down and I shit a brick.
Definitely one of the best cyberpsycho missions in the game, really catches you off guard!
Same here mate
I think that’s the intention
@@WendiGonerLH I can't dispute that. You actually make a good point.
I did all the cyberpsycho missions for Regina and this was either removed from the game or not real. I never worked with maxtac in my playthrough at all, nonetheless team up with them to incap a cyberpsycho
the awful part is there’s documents you can find implying she’s being programmed and controlled by corpos, and that their form of rehab is mind control
Do you know where you can find these documents?
@haise1884 during the quest with river when your hunting "peter pan" go into a specific room boot up the PC and go into files or documents and you'll see one that says melissa Rory.
@@Homelander1234 wtf how didn't I know about this?
Yup. There's a lot of layers and shit going on with this world.
man i was just about to write this comment about rivers quest and the files/messages you find on the computer. there is literally millions of things happening behind the scenes in the cyberpunk verse
A fair amount of MaxTac operatives are Cyberpsychos or former Cyberpsychos, considering Cyberpsychos are stronger than normal soldiers
They don’t have to be fully cured. Just ready to kill
What exactly makes them "stronger" aside from having the experience so they know how to deal with other psychos? Does being a cyberpsycho give them more super strength? Super speed? Even after they've been rehabilitated?
@@jimsoo3930 Yes, because to become a Cyperpsycho you have to have cybernetics. Cybernetics make you stronger. Who do you think would win, a normal cop or a person with a Sandevistan and Mantis Blades?
@@jimsoo3930 I hate to be rude, but your question was kind of dumb
I thought it was only a few because she even said that reforming cyberpsychos to maxtac agents is done very rarely
I CAN FIX HER I SWEAR 🗣️🗣️🗣️
No bro. Im’a be the one that FIXES HER
I can fix her mechanical insides for with my hard tool
Y'all are down crazy bad..............Plus, y'all are wrong, I can fix her, just lemme lube up her mantis blades motors.
Why are yall concerned about fixing her? Just commit crime until it makes you sociopathic and you two can kill forever
She'll fix every single one of you.
Fun fact : In Phantom Liberty, you fight a MaxTac squad at some point.
They are all immune to the Cyberpsychosis quickhack.
"Jokes on you, been there done that!" - MaxTac, unlikely
incase people were unaware, maxtac exclusively hires rehabilitated cyberpsychos. this information was actually in the base game, just not so easy to find
@@vincentgrinn2665I like how majority of every mention of Cyberpsychos is all about how they can't be cured and need to be put down when in truth that's mostly false.
Really fitting for the setting.
@@Sivrn-Val if you dig more into it, cyberpsychosis is actually entirely made up, there are even 'cyberpsychos' in 2077 who dont have any chrome
It should televised for ratings. Like running man. People watch and cheer for maxtac hunting and butchering "bad guys". Lol
When speaking with her (if your Technical Ability level is high enough) V can comment about how those particular Mantis blades were banned for messing with people's heads in 2069, 8 years prior.
The first Cyberpunk trailer (featuring her) was released in 2013... also 8 years before the game's release.
you can also kill her and loot them.
@@zenivinezYou can also get them from hands for doing what he wants when deciding Dogtowns new leader
Cyberpunk 2077 came out in 2020 . . .
Can you read, choom? they said first cyberpunk TRAILER, not the game. @@usenamer3635
@@usenamer3635I think you need to learn how to read because he said trailer not game
Fun fact: The song that plays in that same trailer is also called bullets, by archive
Apparently all missions in Cyberpunk 2077 are named after songs so that makes sense. They named the mission after her debuts soundtrack.
Honestly, I wish she was a side character that you get to fully interact with, just like Judy and Panam.
Ong God Judy was a bit blah and Pan was Obnoxious af. Like her thought process always seemed to skip a few logical steps and it got old.
Damn, im sacred to immagine what a romance path with her would look like
@@ImMuthafuckinTired yea, im also thinking she would have a good relationship with a certain guy named Adam.
Tho if i could i would 100% choose a romance with her in the game
Would be cool if we do have contact with Maxtac member
@@creatore1359Imagine what she does in her free time after a mission. *wink wink*
She still has her Mantis Blades and through further conversation, she hints on having used them - the initial Cyberpunk 2077 trailer.
And if you kill her, you can take her mantis blade
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Or in this case a hot crazy lady with blade arms.
I get in late game, so I neutralize him.
And Rory still goes "did you feel his life leaving him?" Sis, dude is still living....
That was annoying, yeah.
wait. i tried not to kill him a couple times. but he always ends up dead. how did you neutralize him?
@@TheAndretfk New started a week ago but isn’t there weapons that convert damage to the neutralizing kind?
@@aaaawubadugh8054just got to make sure your last shot ticks him over and isnt a headshot and then he goes "down"
I believe she’s the one rushing at you when you get 5 stars and you can hear her psycho laugh too
I like to think that she's trying to flirt with us, but has a really twisted understanding of it 😅
As reaper once said “I’m not a psychopath… I’m a High Functioning Psychopath!”
Wasn't it "highly functioning sociopath"?
what does that mean
Honestly cyberpunk is one of those games that if a character has a dark past then you’d be like “huh, so what else is new?”
People have said that cyberpsychosis isn't really a thing and it's more the person having a mental breakdown after seeing their body not as their own and past trauma fuelling it
The fact that Regina insists on not killing Cyberpsychos makes sense when you see this one
If only we could romance her 🫣
All fun and games until she snaps again and turns you into cold cuts with her mantis blades
@@Uknown76worth it
@@Uknown76100% worth it
@@Ghostryda115 perhaps

It's actually in the lore that a large percentage of max tac is just cyberpsychos that surrendered or didn't die
not just a large percentage, maxtac is exclusively rehabilitated cyberpsychos
Or she noticed how chromed you are and that you wiped the floor with a cyber psycho all by your self and now used her advanced expertice in cyber psychosis to comfort you and determine, if you could become a problem soon.
I think she wouldn't be a MaxTac officer if she's still unstable and represents the risk of MaxTac suddenly has to deal with two CPs simultaneously.
I'm sure she's absolutely aware that they will need more than just one MaxTac unit if V snaps.
I like your take on it.
@@casanova1838yeah honestly that seems like a very strong possibility as well
Well all things considered that would be interesting theory if she wasn't a confirmed cyber psycho by a message you received from Zane when he did some digging on her and found full accounts on her Cyber psycho scene and was presumed dead when maxtac arrived but was appearntly reformed the mantis blades are likely the cause of the cyberpsyhosis in this case because they where appearntly faulty blades that where recalled in mass due to short circuiting and heavy wear on the mental state of their users
@@アンドロイド-e9g According to lore, all MaxTac officers are former cyber psychos. At least those on the streets.
You're right! Melissa Rory was killed by MaxTac because she got full cyber psycho due to her faulty mantis blades frying her mind, at least officially. BUT also in Zanes message you can read that they rebuilded her and forced her to work for MaxTac.
The message really is about the happenings in the trailer, so she doesn't got cyber psycho again and enjoys excellent health, for now. So this supports the possibility of my point further. If all MaxTac grunts are former cyber psychos, MaxTac knows very well for what they have to watch out to prevent one of their sheeps to go haywire again.
so in other word shes baiting for a wrong answer and then calls the maxtac squad on you 😂
So she’s a baddie… I can definitely fix her
… until she goes psychotic again and cuts you into pieces with mantis blades.
@@kerbodynamicx472 worth it
Another small fact: "Bullets" is also the name of the song from the 2013 trailer. Pretty sure it was performed by Archive
Melissa roy is one of the few people in the game that made it feel like I wasn't the main character.
I loved stumbling upon this mission by mistake and loved her interaction. We definitely needed more MaxTac and 6th Street.
Ah, the NRA Nuts of NC.
She gets me…..😢
I fucking love the soundtrack for this game, I still see a lot of people give a crooked look at the game for it's launch and not see how great it actually is, it's a shame because it's one of the best single player games I've played since black flag, it captured everything I love in gaming, satisfying gun play, morally questionable choices for who gets to die and where you'll draw the line in your character, and the electric music arrangement merged with those bassy organic strings, top tier I gotta say
This implies that Regina Jones doesn't cure cyber-psychosis ... She rehabilitates them into Max-Tac agents.
i think the maxtac thing is just offered for any cyberpsychos that survive up until this point directly by maxtac, or something, afaik regina was actually trying to research a cure or at least some form of rehabilitation for cyberpsychosis
Imagine a mass shooter in the real world getting arrested and sent to a mental institution, only to be offered a job in a police unit to go after other mass shooters with a "it takes one to know one" aproach.
@@Svoorhout85 Those kinds of people irl are usually fully aware of and willingly choose what they are doing from the get-go without outside influence.
Most Cyberpsychoes are not like that. They are essentially suffering from a severe mental disorder caused by the extensive use of cybernetic augmentations. They often don't understand and have no control over what they are doing when they "go psycho", similar to spontaneous moments of aggression seen in severe cases of Autism. Most cyberpsychoes are as much vicitms of cyberpsychosis as the people they unintentionally hurt.
Similar to most mental disorders, effective rehabilitation of cyberpsychosis is likely different from case to case and requires treatment on an individual basis. Reforming the victim into a MaxTac officer, where they can better utitilize and control themselves in a more productive manner for themselves and society, is probably better for a case like Rory's.
@@Svoorhout85Mass shooters are already often federal operatives so
It's done with bank robbers and hackers though, many of them end up getting a deal to work for the feds in exchange for a short sentence.
@@Svoorhout85 Lots of security and fraud prevention advisors are ex-criminals, internet security is the one that stands out the most, a ton of them were hackers.
MaxTac is full of former psychos
Its not really a dark secret hiring highly lethal murderous people to kill other highly lethal insane murderous people is fairly reasonable
There’s so much dark secret behind every cyber psycho missions😂 I fking hate those missions in the beginning, but i gradually starting to like to find out all those back stories. It’s kinda fun actually.
Its cannon that nearly all maxtac are cyberpsyco
Honestly I wouldn´t be surprised if every MaxTac agent would be a well trained and in some way tamed cyberpsycho with a fucked up mind.
Every Maxtach agent is a former or current cyberpsycho. They're unhinged enough that they wont feel anything while killing and they obey orders.
If they don't a killsquad is sent after them.
Oh yeah i loved it. As someone on my 10th playthrough, it's all about the thrill of the kill.
Commander Shepard..... you went full renegade 😢
I finished that mission the other day and she......creeped me out. Didn't know the back story of her......makes sense now.
Creeped you out? you missed out on the "I wanna put it in crazy" experience.
I love all the references they jammed into the mission. From the mission name being the name of the og teaser's song to the model number of her mantis blades being the teaser's launch date.
i can fix her
Thank you! Just saw this the other night when I was wrapping up base content before starting Liberty, and I was wondering why she stood out so much after that!
Also, this explains how the trailer ended where we see her as part of Max-tac. I always interpreted that as a flashback, but it looks like that was linear.
If you play shadow run series a cyberpunk 2077 for me back in 2013 - 2015. Its explain the Cyberpsychos. Though the Cyberpsychos in shadow run are called "out of essence" if you lost it, well your gone full Cyberpsychos. To counter the Cyberpsychos You have to be a Psycho its explain that on shadowrun one of the player companion name Racter explain that he was diagnose as Psycho when he was a child(still undergo taking stimulus to calm his nerves since his Psycho) Half of his body is full of cyberware and never gone Cyberpsychos. Now i understand why most of maelstrom, adam smasher never gone Cyberpsychos.
“If you can’t be 'em, join 'em”
I thought the secret was that she
was wearing splinter cell/overwatch
goggles.
No, that's just MaxTac gear
Fun fact bullets the name of the mission is also the name of the song that was in the 2013 trailer of the game
The fact that that trailer was from 10 years ago blows my mind. It took more than a decade to get from that trailer to the definitive version of this game.
Bullets is the song that plays during the trailer too. Bullets by Archive. I love how they named that mission after the song
Over half of maxtac is cyberpsychos btw
I yelped when I figured this out for the first time! God this game does such a good job with the narrative!
fun fact: the mission name “bullets” links to the 2013 teaser trailer as the mantis blades MaxTac agent (or Melissa Rory) is the featured cyberpsycho in the teaser. The soundtrack to that teaser is called “Bullets” by Archive
Fun fact: "Bullets" is also the main song used in that 2013 trailer
To be fair, this is pretty normal for MaxTac.
For anyone reading this they added a new hidden Iconic version of the Mantis Blades called Max Tac Blades for defeating Mallisa Rory in a fight during this mission.
Your in for one hell of a battle though as attacking her will obviously cause all of the other Max Tac agents to also become hostile and give you an immediate 5 star wanted rating.
forgot to mention they only drop if you own the phantom liberty DLC
Still can’t forgive that there’s no reward for doing all of these
If you kill her you can get her mantis blades.
What’s even worse is when you think about what they’ve done to her and what drugs they’ve got her on to keep her “obedient”
either she's not cured or she's doing some heavy interrogation
Funfact: There is also a very interesting log entry about Melissa Rory inside the Hospital where you end up during one of Rivers Missions.
if you kill her she drops her iconic mantis blade
I hunted all Cyberpyschos and never did this mission....interesting.
It isn't a cyberpsycho mission. It's randomly triggered in some fancy shop
@@CapnLubeHandles that explains it. Caption was kinda misleading.
This is basically what Batman wants Arkham villains to be like
That voice of hers got feelin something
In canon, a good proportion of Max-Tac are cyberpsychos. It’s kind of a fight fire with fire deal.
When I first played the game and got to this quest I instantly recognized the quest name and got so excited when Melissa Rory actually showed up with Maxtac.
"Dark secret" wait till this boi hears about Adam Smasher.
Maxtac sometimes reforming psychos and using then against others is nice
She should be the next protagonist in the other season of Netflix Cyberpunk series. It would be interesting to see her transition into Cyberpsychosis and her Time in Max Tac.
Reinforces the idea that maxtec agents are all cyberpsychos repurposed for combating cyberpsychos
Fun fact...most of maxtac is actually cyber psychos. The headsets actually act as mood stabilizers in addition to their tactical enhancements. They also can be used as the equivalent of the collars (or brain chips depending on which medium you watch/read) of suicide squad from DC comics.
If you have a high enough tech rating to select the special tech dialogue, V will comment how her mantis blade model is around 7 years old. This is also a direct reference to how the announcement trailer showing her was released in 2013. Which was 7 years before the game was released in 2020.
maxtac actually exclusively hires rehabilitated cyberpsychos, which has a lot of interesting implications for the world and cyberware use
though most of those implications were pretty clear from the beginning
Fun fact: the name of the quest "bullets" is also the name of the song featured in the same trailer. Honestly it's a great song.
I genuinely thought that that was a real person for a second. That thumbnail is insane
Dude when I came across her the other day I was like wtf u ok lmfao
ALSO the mission name "bullets" is the name of the song playing in that trailer.
I have the sensation that she would have a great friendship with a certain choom named Adam
Also the song playing during the trailer she is in is "Bullets" by achieve, in fact all missions are named after songs, fictional or otherwise
MaxTac is almost entirely composed of psychos that have been rehibilitated. None of them are quite right in the head, most are outright violent psychopaths that would love to get in on the action whenever the opportunity presents itself.
In the Cyberpunk TTRPGs, fucking with MaxTac is almost always a deathwish because they tend to open fire on the first signal that you mean trouble or you're just too close to a scene they are working in. The worse thing is, whatever you do they are almost always better at it than you are and they are always far better equipped than you are. They are pretty much the franchise's way of controlling murderhobos.
Fun fact: You can defeat her and get her Max-Tac Mantis Blades. I just wish they looked like hers.
Personal. Responsibility. Personal. Responsibility.
man I remember when that first trailer dropped back then in 2013, shit instantly grabbed my attention
She might not be fully cured but she's proof progress can be made.
*~Personal Responsibility, Personal Responsibility~*
Fun fact if you down her you can steal her Mantis Blades they are like the regular mantis blades but they have a unique stat that heals you which is great for blade builds
It’s really cool when they do stuff like this, like on The Witcher 3, when you are with Lambert in Kaer Morhen and he makes a reference to the Killing Monsters trailer, that it was an actual incident before the beginning of the game and Vesemir told him about it (Still CDPR) and I’m sure many other games do that too
Love that the mission name is bullets. The name of the song featured in that 2013 trailer.
I thought it was cannon that most of the max tac teams are cyberphycos.
Bullets is also the band that was playing when the very first trailer for cyberpunk 2077 as well with her trailer
All maxtac agents are cyberpsychos. In the game when taking down the cyberpsychos you get quite a bit of info on their conditions, one you decrypt and another unencrypted file talks about maxtacs personnel being cyberpsychos that were caught and given some meds and a contract to work for the Corp.
Like old saying goes “Kill two birds with one stone” or “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” like rehabilitating ex Cyberpsychos into enforcer tools to go after other cyberpsycos
Smash, next question
Still my favorite trailer for the game, I remember when I first saw it when it was released, I was so ecstatic for the release of the game and counted the days till it came out
If you search you find that most if not all MaxTac are previous cyberpsycho's. Imagine if the SWAT team were made of former mass shooters, that's Maxtac.
Ugh I wish they would’ve stuck with that original concept. Seeing that first trailer got me so hyped to play a night city officer tracking down cyberpsychos Ala Blade Runner. The idea of having this sort of futuristic cops and robbers setup was what I hoped for. Then I saw that they were merely using this idea as a backdrop for the character’s main storylines. I still have never played this game, and maybe I will some day, but I really do hope this game is worth it by the time I get to.
Oh I thought she was just a corrupt cop who stole those mantis blades.
if im not wrong they are almost all cyberpsychos and not even really rehabilitated, like with main and david there is some level of rationalizing with them and maxtac is using that to clean the streets, but maybe im wrong
I thought it was already established, canon lore that MaxTac had cyberpsychos among them.
Technically since she's talking to you she's just a regular psycho
They need to have her be one of the main characters in the next game
Bro looking like cloaker at home
I really hope V is a maxtac in 2078
2177 when arasaka is finally capable of making V a clone body capable of reinstalling his construct without problems. With new enhancements etc. You play a few missions as maxtac ...you find some other shady stuff going on like they are using old arasaka constructs from their enemies Like edgerunners Jackie etc to work for them going on so Then you betray them and end in the streets like Goro deprived of your chrome and have to climb up your way to the top again.
Surprised not to see Cloaker mentioned
