- Day Four of our 2022 hike along Scotland's Southern Upland Way was longer than expected having had spend a day sitting out bad weather. We hiked from the Beehive Bothy in Laggangarn to White Laggan Bothy at Loch Dee, a distance of 25 miles. Luckily the weather was good and it put us in with a chance of making up the distance although we both agreed it was a hard day out. On the way we visited the graves of Scottish covenanters who had been murdered by government troops during the notorious 'Killing Times' of the 17th century, Alexander Linn's grave on Craigmoddie Fell and the Martyr's Tomb at Caldons in Glen Trool. We also took the opportunity to visit the Bruce's Stone above Loch Trool, which commemorates Bruce's victory over the English in 1307.
