If you are serious about it being two years since the last bus project video, you may have given many of us a heart attack... Is time really that broken in all of our brains now?
Yep. Covid wasn't a thing in part 3. It's hard to believe
@@agingwheels my brain right now: "This cannot be true."
the internet: "Oh, but it is."
🧠: "Yikes."
,but it is only March 1092, 2019
There has been a project update video 2-3 months ago, though
the rona's real effect was nullification of the temporal lobe
Your seemingly endless patience with having to redo whole sections that you've sunk hours and hours into really reminds me that you were/are a software engineer haha
My dad is a computer engineer and im a mechanic. His endless patience compared to mine is amazing. Im willing to settle for good enough and if it fits it ships, my dad however is a perfectionist lol. Working with him is practically impossible for me lol
As a software engineer, can confirm.
*_sobs_*
Guilty as charged.
@@TailRecursion every software engineer I've come across seems to be either sobbing, recovering from sobbing, or preparing to sob. Do you guys schedule it or is it more spontaneous
@@THESLlCK Both, depending on the reason.
I first found this channel when the bus project was new. I have now learned so much about weird little cars. I have also learned that I will certainly never ever buy a bus :)
You don’t have to do all this bodywork for a skoolie build. Unless you want or need a roof raise for headroom inside, you don’t need to do this bodywork on your bus.
My recommendation is buy and convert an old motorcoach bus like red, white and Bethune
Turn a cargo trailer into a camper...
Same here, thank you for teaching us to not buy a bus in the hope of making a camper out of it.
Considering the electric project being a feeder project for this, it's very likely that the next bus video will be in two years.
That would be so perfect.
It does not look like the 900 horsepower escape will be done anytime soon. I would say another 7 months at least before the escape is done
Despite how painful it was watching you spend all that time working on the old panels knowing their fate, this was well worth the 2+ year wait. The bus is back!!!
It’s been 2 years?!
Wasn't there a update 2 months ago
Wait till the end. It’s even worse.
@@lawnmowerdude was wondering how many people saw the last 5 seconds. It hurts to watch.
Love your channel!! Hello from Toronto🇨🇦
That ending... God, it was brutal...
after that, next video is DEFINITELY the Durango destruction video
I was confused at first because it seemed like he got some good results, and then I saw right at the end... Christ. Goodbye, chicken coop Durango!
What i miss?

I love that Robert can’t get through his t-shirt taglines without giggling.
Same
“I promise the next bus project video won’t be 2 years from now… it will probably be 6 months or so” hello from a year and two months after this video came out, you have another project which does indeed benefit the bus but ultimately has halted progress on the bus itself until probably July and I will be pleasantly surprised if the next proper bus video is even a day less than two years after this one was posted
Well, it's been 2 years now
If only you had a building set up to be a paint booth with extractor fan and everything. It's like the Yugo alignment and the pit all over again.
Man, it's too bad you don't have like a dedicated paint booth or room or whatever with its own ventilation fan and everything....
But it's a wood shop now.
You might be correct about it being 3 years before the next update! Hard to believe it’s been a year since this update. Time just flies by.
Wow, great job and what a huge amount of work. I lost it at "4th state of matter gun".
Will the bus be finished before collinfurzes tunnel?
Hmmm, doubtful
Maybe it will be a race to the finish between the Aging wheels ex bus car transporter camper, and Bad Obsession Motorsport's "Project Escargo" ex library lorry car transporter camper? :D
Or Wintergaten's Marble Machine X
No.
@@Reman1975 That's a much closer competition.
The most painful lesson I've learned about shortcuts: Do it right or do it twice. On the plus side, you're guaranteeing your channel more content!
We used to have a saying where I used to work, "it's not done right 'til it's done three times", followed by "it's alright, I get paid by the hour".
The "I like bus stuff bareback" shirt almost killed me. I seriously saw spots from laughing too hard.
That bareback sounds more than a little gay to me.
Bus stuff bareback from behind, yeehaa
I love Robert Dunn's way of presenting things so much, I watched, instead of skipping through, the sponsor segment. Keep it up Robert.
Oh man the last few seconds of the video. I feel for you, man. Thanks for the update, looking forward to moar hi-jinx!
This project is a masterpiece in the art of making everything take a record amount of time, work, and money with a mimimum amount of progress.
Your patience is clearly infinite
If you commit yourself to programming for multiple years you will develop this level of Patience by necessity. Patience is not an option when you are a programmer
Anker couldn't have chosen a better channel to sponsor! I like their products and their sponsorship solidified that I'll continue to go with them!
1 Year later, we need more bus content. Love your editing style.
i am positively impressed by the fact that, with all the setbacks you had, you at least managed to figure out that epoxy primer makes rivet holes smaller ahead of time, which makes you smarter than the average owner of an engineering degree.
I'm a bus driver, so... I'm in for updates. And a 'Bus Stuff' shirt.
I always enjoy the "speed run" style of edit where you blast through 5-50 steps within a few seconds! It's really satisfying, too.
Wow....the minute you move a school bus, there is a kid in it! School buses are amazing!
That is some serious dedication to flat panels.
I can hardly believe it's been 2 years, and I feel like I've just been sitting here waiting for an update this entire time! 😱
Haha! Me too!
Mrs. Aging Wheels must really enjoy all her down time while you're working on a project. 😂
He absolutely overthinks everything enough that he goes at a snails pace and even makes mistakes. I love it because he doesn’t care. Dude just does him and it is what it is. And I watch every video.
This dude is a programmer so putting in hours or even days of work only to find out that you have to start from scratch likely wasn't a foreign concept before he even worked on his first vehicle, assuming that came after his job as a programmer.
OMG!! 😪😪I literally FELT the pain, when you said, you'd remove the panels 😱😱
I, and MANY MANY others, are glad you're back Robert! You have been missed.
First thing I think of when I see this bus is SNOWRUNNER with a giant flat bed and loading crane! Keep up the great work!
An exhibition in how there any number of ways to do something, not all work, not all are efficient, human endeavour and persistence gets you there either way!
Just yesterday, I was thinking "man, it's been ages since the last Aging Wheels video; what's up?" And here you are with the answer. It's that kind of customer service that keeps me coming back.
Yay, bus video. The vacuum holder-upper thing for sheetstock is very neat indeed.
fun fact: the standard way a SWAT team will usually stop a hijacked school bus (like this one) is to simply shoot the radiator with a shotgun using 00 buck (12 gauge). the radiator has a little door that makes it very easy to locate and shoot at. once the SWAT team sees a good hole pattern on the radiator door, they will back off a bit and just follow behind the bus until it eventually dies and rolls to a stop.
The vacuum wall solution was solid engineering, even if it wasn't the right tool for the situation. Well done. The crazy sheer amount of work that's been invested into this bus project is just mind numbing.
The motto of Matt's off Road Recovery: We do it nice cause we do it twice!
Riveting stuff!
Honestly didn’t realise it had been that long since the last bus vid, seemed more like 6 months at the most.
March 2020 sure has been a long month
its now almost 2 years later, and i own a small piece of this bus that i bought to support a totally different project that wasn't a glimmer in robert's eye in 2022 and ... I couldn't be happier about it.
The only channel I don‘t skip the product placement ads. Anker! … Anker, Anker, Anker!
So glad you’re done with the rub bar part of this project. 😮💨
"...and that makes me very happy!"
Seeing new videos from you makes me as happy as seeing new content from Ayunda Risu... Yes, your content is that enjoyable it competes with cute anime squirrel!!
I still remember when my dad finished his Mercedes 303 coach (1979) converting it from a Coach to a motorhome. He paid something like $10K for it in great running condition but it did have cancer (rust) and not registered. He worked on it every day after work.. mind you he started it when he was 64.. and doing it on a budget.. 3 years later it was done. Painted bright blue.. He has since driven it all around the border of Australia and many other smaller trips.
So, don't give in.. take breaks if you need to! You Got This!!
This guy is bloody good and has a tallent you dont often find .he has the patience of a nun and will not be beaten love watching keep up the good work
You sir, are insane. I bet you're some kid's favourite uncle. I love it :)
I've been really looking forward to this instalment of the bus project!
I am a concerned that the panels are going to "oil can" whilst driving, as there isn't any beading to resist such deformation.
No, but they are seriously riveted down, so maybe not.
Very inspiring to see you have the courage to go back and correct your mistakes until you are happy with the result. Keep it coming!
I have never seen anybody work so hard (twice)(no, 3 times)(no ,wait, it was 4 times) and get something almost ready but not quite so finished, finished. Have to rivet several metals to your cover-alls for persistance, energy and just plain ol tanasity. Great Work young feller.
please know that you are the ONE youtuber for whom I do not skip the ads, I just love your humor!
The daily episodes almost 2 years ago really helped with what was and is going on with the world, thank you so much
I've been a metal worker for the past 15 years and I got to admit at how you're going about doing this project is really impressive to no end and I picked up alot of tips and tricks that you're doing also I just ordered a pneumatic hole punch 👌
Edit: curiosity has me what brand of corded nibbler do you have?
absolute LOL at "The fourth state of matter' gun.
This channel is definitely for the person who wants to see every honest part of the build, not just the kinda channel that bangs a hammer on an old rusty truck and BOOM it’s a lifted mud truck, and calls it quality content. Love it!
YESSSSS i saw this on your twitter and im SO EXCITED
good job dude!! super impressed
its so crazy its been 2 years, i cant imagine where time has gone.. it really has taken shape tho its going to be such an awesome looking vehicle when your done.
When we removed the rails on my buddies bus we went the easy way. We put rivets back in and used urethane sealant to make sure they were waterproof. After seeing what you went through I'm glad we chickened out on doing it right. It already has so many exposed fasteners that it all just blemded together after paint.
Yes, I am replying to myself, happens.
Finished the video and noticed you didn't seal the panels to the supports. I know it's too late now but I would recommend at least sealing them from the inside. The seams have give due to temperature and vibration so the better you can seal it now the less water damage in the future. Freeze thaw events will loosen the rivets over time, allowing moisture in. When the interior walls were exposed as a bus it didn't really matter but if the interior is enclosed that can lead to mold and mildew.
I’m sure the next video will be out soon. Man has never kept us waiting.
Good to see you working on the Bus again! The progress is amazing and the outcome awesome! Totally worth the wait :)
Glad you're feeling better!!! Glad to see you back. I was genuinely worried about you when I realized how long it had been since you uploaded.
Wow! Just loved it. Before my beloved passed she asked me to buy an A camping trailer. And cross this country visiting our 4 offspring.I should have. Instead I purchased a pop up camper with grotty canvas and woeful windup roof. I removed the roof and filled it with the rest of the whole van in little pieces. Took it to the tip and drove the floor home. Purchased 10 8x4 sheets of Aluminum and nearly same of black acrylic for wrap around windows. Built what looks like an Airstream Basecamp but with total wraparound black windows. Faced your attachment issues. Made my own break (we call folder in Australia) from an old heavy bed frame. Yes so many hours and yes although definitely not a control freak or OCD I still wanted each stage as perfect as possible. Towed it 4,000 km test drive and it was like a trout in a stream. Despite polished mirror finish over past 2 yrs it has micro oxidised. Am starting repolish this week. Noticed realestate signage is thin zinc plated steel sheet with vinyl finish...that’s what I shoulda done. So 5yrs into widowhood I realise this is exactly what my darling knew I would do. Oh needed to sell my box trailer so am building a 2person standup inside pod to nest onto it....then I’m going to....
Projects are like this, one step forward, two backwards. Can't wait to see this bus done
This is a truly deeply insane amount of work, and it looks absolutely incredible! So excited to see it painted!!
Yay a new video, you are genuinely my favorite automotive source of entertainment, period
This made me go back and rewatch the entire bus project. No regrets.
Ye... time acts weird when it comes to projects. I recently changed oil in my Jeep, which was waiting for its turn for turbo rebuild. Today I checked the date to make sure the oil is still ok... 05/2019.
Oh my god. The best news of this entire week.
This has been my absolute favourite project with you, and I'm so glad you're resuming it!
Oooh, heartbreaking ending, I almost cried.
However, then I remembered it's actually required by regulations around here to have something solid at this height, so that small cars don't dive under trucks in a side collision, you know, so you don't crush and/or decapitate the passengers. In the video, it appears there's just a tiny strip there, mounted to vertical bars, not sure if that would pass? Conclusion: make side bumpers :)
When you said that you couldn't use the vacuum clamps because your panels were full of rivet holes I lost it! You got me, Subscribed!
At this point, this project is just content material being optimised for maximum RUclips reach. I have seen novices finish their bus projects faster. Hope to see yours one day! Good luck.
24:35 Maybe 3 years weren’t that much off after all…
2 months?! We are less than half a year away from being closer to 2 years…
couple of months he says its been 8 monts
Man, what an insane amount of work over work over work.
I sure would have wrecked the bus long ago due to anger issues. You, Sir, are one patient dude !
Hope the bus parking spot is not needed soon. As you mature, you will learn or go nuts trying to accomplish your goal. The kind of money and time your spending, means you probably have plenty of both, Keep the faith, stay hydrated and stay healthy.
You missed an opportunity on saying how those aren't anchors for boats.
you said 2 months... its been 8
Now it’s been another 2 years
Well, this video answers a very important question... tighty whities. Have you always been a tighty whities guy?
Glad to see another bus update, keep it coming.
I felt that ending… I felt it so much.
Bus Stuff Bare Back has a way different meaning that you intended..I love your brutal honesty. Keep up the great work💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
listening to you drill out stuff in time lapse really brings me back to my proto-industrial German dance club days
Your patience and upbeat personality is refreshing. Enjoying the bus project.
Holy shit, new Colin Furze tunnel video AND Aging Wheels bus video? Best week ever.
That reaction of amaze and bewilderment when starting that saw "...or the world's most useful mosquito" had me laughing so hard I had to pause the video, good lord thank you. That was awesome!
The void space below the floor could be useful storage room. Of course, that would require a supporting framework and putting doors in the lower side panels. But it seems a shame to not use all that empty space.
GLAD TO SEE THE PROGRESS... HAVE MISSED YOUR HUMOR...HURRY UP & GET IT DONE SO I CAN BUY IT !!! =)
Here just over 2 years since this video went up, can't seem to find a more recent one. Hopefully will see this come to an end before 3 years!
I appreciate the dedication towards trying to reuse old bus parts as much as possible, but I'm also glad that you decided to ditch the old panels and go with new sheetmetal. You learned a lot about welding techniques, bondo, etc, but I think for the sake of moving forward and accomplishing something, you made the right choice. Good to see progress on a long-term project.
That gouge at the end broke my heart. Dam, I guess thats why i prefer mad max style of vehicles, where scratches are part of the design language x)
I was having a good day until I saw Aging Wheels uploaded someone
And my day got 1000 times better!
Love your work man!
You weren't too far off your goal date for the next update, if not for the completion goal. Projects are like that, yes they are. Your persistence in sticking to this project is great to watch and your quirky personality fits my sense of humor (yes, I am weird). You have an amazing skillset that lets you address all the issues you run across and you still show all the warts behind the scenes. Don't ever stop posting videos - I would be very sad!
You give yourself a lot of flack but I really appreciate the quality of work you are determined to do, it's really really well done. Thanks for sharing all your hard work and your sense of humor.
Your videos are freaking addictive.
There really is something special about this channel.
You're crazy. First I think about how much work that was by itself and then I realize you filmed it all too. Amazing work and you're crazy.
Oh my god the second shirt is gold. If i had any budget for merch i'd spend it all on it
“The worlds least ergonomic saw, or the worlds most useful mosquito”, that to me sounds like a radial airplane engine when cutting. That’s a good one. And I am genuinely surprised that using the plasma cutter to cut out the wheel arches did not set the wheels on fire.
Callout for the editing (which often goes unnoticed). The rivet scene is gold!
Aww man... that was great except for the end.. So many rapid fire drilling, cutting, and metal tapping noises.. my ears where in heaven!
I almost died today... as we are seeing a BUS update... OMG, I STILL might have a heart attack ! LOL Nice to see an update here !
It's been 2 years? I don't know how you kept (or keep) going on this puppy. I salute your determination, sir. The motor home/car hauler will be something else when you're done.
It's starting to look really nice and it certainly helps folk to visualise just exactly what you're aiming for.
I went back and watched every bus video after seeing this one pop up two weeks ago. I am surprised there isn't an update yet. But luckily perfection takes time, keep working hard good sir.
