    At 8:06 I wondered if perhaps this video's coat hooks weren't gonna get some verbal recognition but we even got a coat-hook-as-a-unit-of-measurement joke at 11:34.

    United really is the flag carrier of the US again at this point (repositioning them back to what they were in the 90s - the US’s flag carrier). The route network is the envy of their peers, globally and domestically. Hubs in every business capital in the West, a reliable operation, new aircraft, motivated employees - they have come a tremendous way since the hell of 9/11, Ch11 bankruptcy, SARs, a botched merger integration - United is back at this point and here to stay🎉🎉

      Thank-you for your comment. Do you currently do a lot of air travel? The last time I did any serious travel was in 2003, when most of my life was allocated to business ventures in the US and Europe. At that time, Delta was my airline of choice. But having seen Jayden's review of his flight to Narita on Delta and this one, Delta is so woeful that I did not recognize it.
      My biggest complaint about US carriers is that we no longer have an airline that can rival those in Europe (Lufthansa, et al) and Asia (ANA, et al). Unfortunately, we in the U.S. tend to favor inexpensive flights over service. That is fine, but I just wish we had a rival.

    • @tuolumne9
      @tuolumne9 Год назад +2

      @@Guerry-3 thanks for the comment! I think United is that American equivalent - consider UA has had a superior business class to LH for 7 years now, and will for another 3 until LH’a new product gets rolled out - United’s route network is simply larger in breadth and continental reach than any foreign competitor, save Emirates. The onboard product of 2023 (150+ wide body fleet of premium heavy 4-cabin aircraft) means they are the the most consistent US airline from a product perspective. The Polaris lounges around the globe are also tier I. But for UA it’s really the network - again - it’s so strategically valuable, domestically and abroad, that they are literally too large to fail.

      @@Guerry-3 thank you Sir/ma’am! I am also a big fan of Singapore airlines, their staff are fantastic (so are United’s, but in a friendly “let’s chat!” American way). The big let down, being 6’2”, is I need to fly in F cabin to fit…regrettably the business class “beds” are claustrophobic by being too short - it’s been this way with the prior product too, and I was disappointed it continued with the new biz cabins!

    • @Guerry-3
      @Guerry-3 Год назад

      @@tuolumne9Ha! I'm a guy - No problems. Thank-you again for sharing your experiences with me. Years ago, I flew from Atlanta to Narita on Delta. The flight attendants looked as if they had slept in their uniforms and couldn't find the mirror and a hairbrush. From Narita to Seoul I flew on Korean Air. Both flights were in business. Korean Air was so heads above Delta that I was almost embarrassed. I was further miffed when I viewed Jayden's review for his Delta flight, and especially when I heard the flight attendant trying to speak Japanese.
      Based on having viewed many of Jayden's reviews, Qantas is out, but Cathay Pacific, ANA, Japanese Airlines, Korean Air, and Asiana (I think I have them all) will be the only ones on which I fly anywhere in East Asia.

    Alrighty Sir Jayden! This is your favorite secret admirer, Guerry from the States. That was a great flight review, and I thank-you so much for sharing it. Although I viewed your earlier flights you posted weeks before, I am so thankful to be able to leave my comments with you for this one. In fact, I do feel somewhat ashamed at not being able to leave comments on all your videos. I know how much you depend on my opinions - JUST JOKING!!! Actually, I do enjoy reading so many of the comments left by others, and they do give me a standard for matching their excellence.
    First, I must include this observation. Despite the differences in cabins, the United Airlines flight from Narita was overwhelmingly superior to your Delta Airlines flight to Narita. Nevertheless, I still rank the Asian carriers as having much nicer flights than those by the US.
    I think that United did a great job on their lounge. I am guessing that it was more crowded than the ANA lounge because American customers feel more at home with services provided by American companies. Personally, I enjoy exploring foreign (to me) cultures. If I ever get the opportunity to spend time as I wait for my flight at Narita for my visit to you in Hong Kong or Adelaide, I would most likely go to the ANA lounge. You know I am kidding about the visit.
    As far as your aircraft, despite its age, United has periodically spent roughly $4 million every 6 years or so to perform a “Class D” maintenance check. That check virtually rebuilds the aircraft back into a new condition. When it comes to aircraft age, it does not depend on how many years but the number of takeoffs and landings it has. I could go into all sorts of details about this, but I’ll leave it up to you if you are not already familiar with them. So if you ever have the chance to do some light reading… Moving on…
    You did have the ideal seat in my opinion. I am most definitely a window seat guy. In fact, during a flight I practically paste my forehead to the window. Whether there is anything to see or not, I love the view out of the window. The one thing you did when you stuffed your pillow between the seat and window was to shut off the air conditioning air into the cabin. But if you are getting too cold on a flight, that is one way to keep things warmer.
    I thought the in-service care you received from the flight attendant(s) was truly outstanding. You did not record the announcer state things in Japanese for this flight, but when I heard the flight attendant speak in Japanese on your Delta flight, she was horrible (and somewhat embarrassing to me as an American). As far as your bland vegan meals, what can I say? I am guessing that whoever catered the flight also had those needing a low salt diet in mind. In my opinion, United should have an online check-in site on which those requiring a special diet are able to make their selections. The rest of the passengers should not have to abide by “just in case” passenger requirements. As someone who cooks for himself always, using a little bit of salt in food preparation makes all the difference in the world.
    Although I took a lot of notes, I’ll end with this summary. Between your United and Delta flights, surprisingly United provided a much, much nicer flight than Delta, and I am taking into account that you were in separate cabins for each. However, even with United’s superior rating, I believe that the Asian carriers (Japan Airlines, ANA, Cathay Pacific, etc.) are so much better than American carriers.
    Again, thank-you so much for your review. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I am looking forward with eager anticipation to your next one.

      Thank-you for your comment. It seems that you do a lot of overseas traveling. I would enjoy you embellishing your travel experiences, since it has been a long while since I've done much flying.
      As for the baby crying, for many reasons I wish parents would not take little children on flights. The biggest reason is that as adults, we subconsciously are able to handle the changes in air pressure as the aircraft climbs and descends. Little children do not know how to do it, and thus they are in a lot of pain until the air pressure slowly adjusts in their middle ear. Unruly children however... I heard that Benadryl now comes in candy form.

    I just wonder United long haul always have old men and women flight crews, I am not discriminate them, they are not so enthusiastic like the young gun. I flew JAL and Cathy, they are so attentive and go around to check what we want from time to time, the UA business class flight crew always stay around the gallery chitchatting.

    I didn’t know you were in the US in California in late April. I’m flying the 737 max 9 on United in first class in a couple weeks so I’m interested to see how it goes. They don’t allow you to pick your meals in advance apparently. How did you pick your vegan meal ahead of time?❤️✈️

      On longer flights they let me. Shorter flights indeed they didn’t

    My last flight and only flight with UA United Tulip Colours Boeing 727-222 1968 construction with extra exit blocked but apparent Seattle to SanFrancisco January 1980 great hot meal service no overhead lockers only hat rat racks we were not worried. Loved it carbon tickets then on to LAX with Western Airlines Boeing 727-247 great service hot meal and a great way to fly champagne airline. With Hughes Airwest Douglas DC9-15RC Hot breakfast LAX to YEG December 1980 don't worry about vegan meals.
    How about Ansett Flight AN 251 December 13 Saturday 1980 Adelaide to Sydney fully recorded ?
    Have recorded super 8 film and tape cassette sound.

    Sundae looks really delicious! Very thoughtful of the cabin crew to make you one from the galley!
    23:42 Nice catch of the seaplanes! We might be getting seaplane services between Sydney and Canberra soon, and I can't wait to try that out!
