I've played here a few years back!! I was new to golf, and this course helped me fall in love with the sport!!!
Greatly appreciate all the insights gained from your outstanding play in difficult conditions. 30-40MPH winds at the home course today, and I was the only one to play for the entire day. Wish I had done as well as you. Thank you for a great series.
When we played the wind was in the opposite direction to what you had and the usual prevailing direction. The wind was off the land and made the stretch along the sea play very short. Really enjoyable as we scored best on the most memorable holes. It made some of the other holes very difficult though - there is a par 4 on the front 9 that is longer than the par 5 on the back (I assume they have done this based on the usual wind) but meant it was incredibly long for our conditions

Played there in October 2022, first time in fog and second time in strong winter. Beautiful but challenging and I never did get the hang of the fast and undulating greens.
Great battling in the brutal wind Matt, at least it wasn’t raining as well like the good old UK.
I played that course in exactly those conditions back in 2017. Stood on the tee and just accepted that I had Zero shots in the bag that would get me around in a reasonable score. You just accept it and enjoy the course and the surroundings

Your such a good player these brutal conditions are tearing your mental game apart gotta shape it and think so much of how to compensate for it all you should play a course that's not one of the hardest in good conditions so you can smash a score board be a great confidence booster

It is a decicion of the Rules Comittee to keep the pace going and players not to get stroke&distance penalty for pushing their balls ito the fesque.

Some back 9 that fry dog, off here and west cliffs in 3 weeks. Range of handicaps from 8 up to 36… are the higher lads going to struggle or is it suitable for everyone? 😁
I think you'll be fine as long as you go off the right tees and the wind isn't too bad. Our group varied from around 8 to 20hcp and played in around 20mph wind. We found west cliffs more difficult but both courses were still enjoyable - we especially enjoyed praia del Rey for the stretch along the sea
One of my favourite courses anywhere. However I haven’t been there for at least 10 years, looks like they have made the classic Portugal and Spain mistake, build too close to the course, so netting goes up, tees get closed. Ruins the golf and the view from the villa. All the space they had, as these courses were built when there was nothing nearby, better planning would so improve things. With respect to the wind, world is getting windier, especially of the Atlantic, it will render some courses redundant
