This was a song played at my brothers funeral after he was killed on his Harley at age 19. still have trouble listening to it without tearing up even 5 years on.
Just made sure my friend Will play this, at my funeral, on my guitar. If i die before him. Teaching my son the song aswell. Im sure your brother. Is a highwayman again.
The fact that he can perform this song by himself, acoustically, and make it sound amazing is nuts. One of my all time fav songs. I barely missed the Willie in it.
Johnny's verse always gives me chills. Particularly "I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can, perhaps I will become a Highwayman again - or I may simply be a single drop of rain - but I will remain, and I'll be back again".
SavingPrivateMike when I first head House of Rising Sun on SoA, I got lost in it and John the Revelator. Then discovered this and literally played them nonstop
being a huge fan of the original "highwaymen" (cash, jennings, nelson, kristofferson) I have to say that this man certainly does them justice with his version of this song. two thumbs up!
Oğuz Akkaya Yes it is, but in fact, that's not really a band. They are just musicians that come and go to give dynamic to his songs when he plays live. So, he his The White Buffalo.
[Verse 1: Willie Nelson] I was a highwayman Along the coach roads I did ride With sword and pistol by my side Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five But I am still alive [Verse 2: Kris Kristofferson] I was a sailor I was born upon the tide And with the sea I did abide I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed But I am living still [Verse 3: Waylon Jennings] I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide Where steel and water did collide A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound But I am still around, I'll always be around and around and around and Around and around [Verse 4: Johnny Cash] I fly a star-ship across the Universe divide And when I reach the other side I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can Perhaps I may become a highwayman again Or I may simply be a single drop of rain But I will remain And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again
With respect to Willie, I am of the opinion that White Buffalo was made for this song, and this song was made so that he could one day sing it. The intensity that he brings to it is perfection.
Why be embarrassed, brother? It was a cool show and the music is amazing. I was introduced to one of my favourite artists (Charlie Parr) by a corporate ad. True music has to be heard by any means necessary these days...
Thats what this world of music is missing... soul and passion... Nowadays its all about sex and just bad shit... luckily I found a lot of passion and feeling in a alot of metal music and some country.. I know alot of people will raise there eyebrow at metal but if you actually take the time and read the lyrics in a lot of songs you will see positive messages. Even in some of the most aggressive sounding bands. And the amount of passion the but in the instruments is insane! But this bieber crap is killing the industry. Nothing against the kid as he works his a** off but the content of the lyrics in most stuff on the radio is horrible..Nothing more passionate than a musician and there guitar and own lyrics...Thats soul right there.
I saw him, and literally after every song everyone who was drunk (including myself) yelled "Highway Man" until he said "Ok I got it, you want high way man" hahaha Fucking awesome show!!
20th October 2017: The day I discovered The White Buffalo, the day I listened to every album and the day I bought a ticket to my first TWB gig. In other words a bloody good day! See you in Oxford, April 2018!
ya know, even i can sound good after serious studio tweaking and terminally over produced crap....when you sound that good with a mic and a guitar its pretty fucking awesome.
I am so glad he covered this. Highwayman or Reincarnation song is my all time favorite song. I typed it into search bar and said to myself, I'll listen to an acoustic cover, sure why not. It's damn good, now I am browsing The White Buffalo's other stuff and it is good stuff. :)
11 years old and I still listen to this often, I love this man, his music is incredible and this is the best cover for this song I’ve ever heard. He literally never puts out a bad song, they are all amazing, and done with so much emotion!
u have to listen this guy while you are drinkin' whiskey and walking on your fucking chalet or top of the mountain or something. this guy's voice represents the mothefuckn peace
I just found out he's playing the Martini Ranch here in Arizona! So pumped for that show. This guy is amazing. Anybody in AZ please come out and show your support to an awesome artist.

My favourite singing voice, ever. But I just do not get the Vedder comparisons at all. I don't hear the similularity at all, in fact the Buffalo's voice is much stronger. It has more heart and feeling in it. Vedder's is deep but doesn't have that same nuance and layers to it.
If you can't hear the similar vibrato then you are completely deaf. Much, much more likely you think you will impress people by giving the impression that you hear the voices differently and that you have a keener ear for nuances. I can't stand bullshitters like you.
I have seen the reference also, and didn't know who Vedder was. So, I checked him out yesterday and agree with you. I don't think I've yet heard someone with the depth of spirit in his voice as well, as the intensity, and I lack the words to properly express the talent of his songwriting. It's like he brings history alive with his lyrics.
in my opinion he is very good but not as good Eddie vedder as I am a massive pearl jam fan and I just feel that vedders voice is much better but this is still amazing
This was a song played at my brothers funeral after he was killed on his Harley at age 19. still have trouble listening to it without tearing up even 5 years on.
what a honor to die on a Harley. i'm sure he's riding forever. rip brother
@@abdullah-te2dy An honor? Don't be a moron.
So sorry for your loss..you couldn't have chosen a better song I think.
Just made sure my friend Will play this, at my funeral, on my guitar. If i die before him. Teaching my son the song aswell. Im sure your brother. Is a highwayman again.
Sorry for your loss. I want this played at my funeral too.
The fact that he can perform this song by himself, acoustically, and make it sound amazing is nuts.

A True musician. No lights, sparkly outfits, voice tuners...etc Just a microphone and his, or her, instrument - a True musician
A true white buffalo
@@elpadrinojmmm5 His or her? He's clearly a man
Edit: Lol i schooled someone and they deleted their comment
@@2001KW i think he's talking in general
its a him. HE has a beard.
They didn't do that back then.
I'm a full grown man and I can't help but tear up at him singing this song
I've listened to this and his version of House of the Rising Sun for like 2 weeks straight. His voice gives me chills.
SavingPrivateMike when I first head House of Rising Sun on SoA, I got lost in it and John the Revelator. Then discovered this and literally played them nonstop
SavingPrivateMike couldn’t agree with you more brother I’ve been listening to his music for a year straight and it never gets old.
first time ever hearing him, ..... Chills...........
Here 4 2 years....legendary!
Then you also gotta love Eddie Vedder
being a huge fan of the original "highwaymen" (cash, jennings, nelson, kristofferson) I have to say that this man certainly does them justice with his version of this song. two thumbs up!
Sons of anarchy brought me this band and I absolutely love them
He's a solo artist.
countjulu he is a member of the band.
only member. xD bands' name is the white buffalo.
Oğuz Akkaya Actually, the band came after, "The White Buffalo" is his name as a solo artist.
I thought it was his nickname then he named his ''band'' ''the white buffalo''
Oğuz Akkaya Yes it is, but in fact, that's not really a band. They are just musicians that come and go to give dynamic to his songs when he plays live. So, he his The White Buffalo.
How lovely! Without Sons of Anarchy I wouldn't have discovered such an amazing artist!
My beard is getting thicker just listening to this music.
besides you try to listen ZZ Top for your beard :)
same. haha!
I wish it worked for me and my pube face.
Ryan Milner haha hang in there bud. Some guys cant even grow any facial hair.
lol
This is real music. A man, his voice and a guitar.
How can you dislike this?... Thats just unAmerican!
[Verse 1: Willie Nelson]
I was a highwayman
Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive
[Verse 2: Kris Kristofferson]
I was a sailor
I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still
[Verse 3: Waylon Jennings]
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around, I'll always be around and around and around and
Around and around
[Verse 4: Johnny Cash]
I fly a star-ship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again
With respect to Willie, I am of the opinion that White Buffalo was made for this song, and this song was made so that he could one day sing it. The intensity that he brings to it is perfection.
Everytime I hear this sing, I feel the true spirit of America and being a man. Perfect.
Let this be the song played at my funeral.
It’s tempting... but for me Zeppelin’s version of In My Time of Dying is still top of the list for celebration of me heading to the afterlife.
Smashing my replay button with a sledgehammer!! Your voice! Your damned voice Sir!! Retrieving jaw from floor while typing...
Tim Flottmann :- ) Lmbo! :- P
OMG ! I just went to all those places out of the mouth of this man ! Thanks man.......
He makes me cry, gives me chills, makes me feel.
Never get sick of his version
embarrassed to say sons of anarchy introduced me but...excellent, what a voice..love it!! England Uk fan

I was there for this song! It was at a small church (La Perla Del Mar) in Shell Beach. Strong work for putting that together Jesse!
Mix Johnny Cash with Eddie Vedder, amazing!
Im hearing Richie Havens
@@bretttryder8208 I haven't heard him before reading this comment but their voices really do sound similar.
I always used to says a “grizzly Eddie Vedder.” I love this description!
Yeah it would’ve fit in for the sailor part when he says “Whale”
Never thought of it that way🤔
it's absolutely mind blowing how good his vocals are
His guitar and voice sound is one that has been forgotten. So glad he is keeping it alive.
I saw him, and literally after every song everyone who was drunk (including myself) yelled "Highway Man" until he said "Ok I got it, you want high way man" hahaha
Fucking awesome show!!
Has to be one of my all-time favorite songs. We need another J. Cash, and another W. Jennings.
look up sturgill simpson he reminds me of a combo of merle and waylon
Hot damn you're right. He delivers the text like Waylon did. Awesome find, thanks for the tip!
