I just made them, and it was my first time doing pastelillos de guayaba. They’re absolutely delicious, buttery, flakey, they didn’t break apart. I love them!
Thank you Jo for showing how easy it is to make guava pastry, going to make them for breakfast, and true powdered sugar messy, will wear bib, lol, love to Jeff and Jo and their amazing food videos. :)
@@JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen three layers are the normal panaderia size, I too prefer them two layered as they are easy to eat and you can make 1/3 more with the same dough . Yummy. Thanks for your recipe and video. Love it.
Thank you for exact details, if i decided to add cream cheese should i add less guayaba or do half and half of each ..do i whip the cream cheese should it be cold or room temperature...will it need a longer time in the oven . Do i put in fridge or plastic container ,if so will it stop being flaky do you have any tricks to keep fresh other than eating them all 😋..sorry for all the questions!
Hi there! To add cream cheese, what I would do is, first, mix the cold cream cheese with a little bit of powdered sugar - I would do 4 oz of cream cheese to 2 tbs of powdered sugar. Then, I would put the cream cheese mix (the 4 oz will be plenty for the 6 pastelillos) on the bottom layer and the guava on the top layer. The cream cheese will be a bit heavier and wetter so better to put it on the bottom. I would bake it at same temperature and for the same amount of time. Let me know how it goes for you!
As to keeping them fresh, as soon as they are completely cooled, so about 1 hr after taking them out of the oven, put them in a ziploc bag - I think they keep the freshest in there.
I'm so excited about this! I just so happen to have some leftover guava paste and flour I need to use up...sounds like a delicious way to use them up. :)
You make the guava like paste u get a mixer and add some dark Rum little bit only trust me that’s the best way super good or add little water to the paste and boom
I think a sweetened blend of cream cheese would be a good way to go. Check out our video where we do quesitos (ruclips.net/video/sACxQD3U0Zg/видео.html). The same filling recipe should work here. Good luck! 😊
GRACIAS MIL!! Preparándolos ahora mismo!! Que rico!!!!

Oh yes!!! It is so so good!!
Riquísimo...me lo comí completito contigo 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahaha! Que bueno que te lo disfrutaste!
Great video. Qiestion: Why wet the edges when you're going to cut them anyway. Well explained. Thanks.
That's a great question! I am hoping that I am wetting more than what I cut but the cutting also helps making sure that the edges stick together.

Nice job, Jo’....
Thank you!!
what can you substitute the guava with
Great question - you can use a thick thick jam (want to really minimize water content in there), chocolate chips, Nutella...
Me and my mom's fav
Mmm, so delicious! With a good cup of coffee!! 😋😋
Yummy 😋
Indeed!
And instead of guava try it with ground beef. Just delicious!!!!
Cool! Thank you!
and that lovely music is.....?
Bomba pa siempre!
What type of cheese do you add to this recipe if you want to do PASTELILLOS DE GUAYAVA Y QUESO?

Can you do the same video with guava and cheese? 😁
That's a great idea! We'll have to try that in the future 😃
We make this in one layer and add a bit of cream cheese along with the guava
Yum!!
mine is puerto rican pastelillos de guayaba
👸🏽🫶🏽😂
Very nice but next time instead of biting into it. Cut it for presentation to show the layers. Thanks!
Just couldn't help it, too eager to try it 😂 But I'll try and remember that for next time 😜
A lot of waste and if you do two pastries you get more. The puff pastry is delicious no reason to discard.
Yeah, it just depends on how clean you want the edges to look. Easier to get a clean line if you cut away some of the edges at the last minute.
