This has been one of my most hyped games since its reveal and now after watching it’s my number 1 on my most wanted list! Exploration and combat are the biggest rewards for me in gaming and this has both.
You started the video by saying you were not sure if you could get what that game did for you through to us the viewers. Let me tell you, you succeeded for me!! I am hooked. Especially the no hand-holding and rewarding exploration.. Great job!!
The game's trailer gave me the vibe of Bleak Faith Forsaken, but actually well-funded and more cohesive. And for its many flaws and shortcomings, BFF really drew me in with its atmosphere and world design, so I get what you're saying here! Really hoping the combat system ends up being responsive, and fun too. Doesn't need to be on par with fromsoft games, but I think they could at least reach the level of polish of say The Surge, or 2023 Lords of the Fallen.
@@pixelcount350 Surge 2 and Hellpoint were smooth... ish. Setting for Hellpoint made up for some of its jank. So I too am hoping for that being the minimum level the combat is at in this game. Plus, this game's combat looks more flashy in contrast to those. I wanted to like Bleak Faith. I followed its development and anticipated its release. The ambience and megastructures are great. It just felt difficult to get into when I was playing it. I haven't gone back in a year, but hope to at some point to give it more of a chance.
Had seen this during gamescom and def stood out for me ... ScP vibes .. just watched the developer commentary and now your videos perspective is very much sealing the deal that this could be wonderful
It was interesting to hear you say the combat was not the draw of the game while watching you play the combat, which to me looked sick. Some really unique ideas going on there
You only saw a tiny portion. It might get super repetitive or enemy variety isn't great etc. I'd prefer combat to be either super minimalistic (Last Guardian etc) or super engaging. Something half baked in between is certainly a downer to me.
@@thepainphantom He's not in the wrong here. It's extremely hard to finish a 50-100 hour long game in adulthood. People have jobs, families... I spend 12 hours daily just working. I need to sleep and eat, so I'm left with near nothing for gaming.
@@bmsuperstar1 You can play it however you see fit. Be it 1 hour or 2 hour and continue later. If you don't have time to play games AT ALL it doesn't mean the game itself is bad. It's just not for you, it's a YOU problem. Not my problem :) I mean, you can always play CANDY CRUSH with that time of yours. Why still whining like a kid tho?
It is triple AAA or at least in the start of it cause Nacon is a pretty big company. Granted they don't have the budget of Ubisoft or Bethesda but it's still fairly large and they have a decent amount of investors.
You’ll probably easily find my comments on the old videos from a year or two ago, teasing this game just absolutely wishing for gameplay footage. I’ve been waiting for this post-modern, psychological, bloodborne ish game. I just am so glad to hear a good review.
No map or markers... I'm assuming this means no fast travel? In that case, either the game needs to be pretty small or quests need to be designed REALLY well to avoid tons of annoying, tedious backtracking... Sounds like it will be a fun, novel idea at first but quickly become a thorn. Fast travel is great to have for areas you've already explored but occasionally need/want to return to as new quests become available or to access merchants, upgrades, etc. Needing to run for 10-20 minutes to get back to a hub after a mission will get old FAST lol
Yeah that is my main worry. Navigation in games like this where they emphasize not having a map or waypoints tend to get really tedious when all you want to do is do the objective you set out for. This being a pseudo open world game means that might be even more frustrating
This looks absolutely amazing. This team has passion for their game and it looks like they know what they're doing. This looks in all ways like a must buy.
as a souls guy, really excited for more games like this. can't wait to check this one out, hadn't heard of it before now, but i'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.
Officially the game I'm most excited about now that Wukong is here. This looks so interesting. Ghost of Tsushima really pulled me in with headphones on, and I've been wanting more immersion heavy games.
Very much interested in seeing more about this game in the future. The combat seems out of place though. The setting of the game feels very grounded, despite the seemingly alien/supernatural elements. But then the combat looks like something out of a fantasy game. It was kind of off putting unfortunately.
You had me at "rewarding exploration". Everything sound just up my alley. I hope maybe the combat gets some ommph before release but with what I've heard in this video, this is one I'll be buying.
I've been really intrigued by this game since it was announced, and everything I see makes me even more interested. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on it and probably will end up picking it up after release
Idk what this says about me lol, but when I saw you walking up on that tree with the 4-5 bodies just hanging from it, the eeriness of the whole scene spoke to me. This world and story looks like it could be gut-wrenching….oh baby, I’m in 😂
Too many games want to be Dark Souls but only see the game for the ""challenge"" - the boss fights. They miss that the connective tissue, the meat, is in the exploration. It's the world building. It's the level design. They grasp the dark, but not the soul. This game looks promising. Definitely gonna keep an eye on it.
Exploration is one of my favorite parts in gaming. And that's not the only thing that i love in this game - the artistic direction and the bleakness speak to me. And i'm a story gamer for life. Looking forward to the release, but seeing this is alpha footage, i guess it's still at least a year off (not counting possible delays of projected ETA's :).
The last game I can remember with this kind of vibe was Control, which I absolutely loved playing all the way through. I'll be keeping an eye on this one, thanks!
Great clip. A lot of info presented. This a game I probably need more than anything else, as in like 'immersion,' 'story.' 'Combat' a way to hook you, though.
Apparently, you did a good enough job attempting to describe this because before, it didn't really catch my attention, but now I'm putting this on my radar. I'm genuinely looking forward to this now! 👌👏🙏
Ive been very interested in Hell is Us from the first time they teased it. The concept of surreal scifi is just my favorite. I really hope its great because not enough games capture that concept with a true sense of mystery and discovery. Death Stranding for all of its success in that regard, failed massively in its gameplay loop (for me at least). Im a fan of turning off health bars so hopefully they allow for that and polish up the combat by release.
Yeh this is added to my buy list, appears to be proper art, a passion project, divergent to indiustry homogeny but yet prioritising the gameplay experience. Sold.
I like the concept of no hand holding, but practically this can be really problematic for adult players who can only squeeze in a little play time in between RL responsibilities. They're likely to give up after an hour because they won't remember and keep track of their exploration and quest goals. And although it's fine for the devs to not cater their game to older players out of a legit desire to improve immersion, it may not be a good sales tactic because it could alienate many potential players. Regardless, I hope it does well. Been excited about it since I heard about it years ago.
I like the idea of immersion like this, and i hope there some sort of map system etc... like Metro did with its last game maybe? Viewing your map was very immersive because it was part of the gameplay, and you needed to be on your guard while doing it.
It does seems promising. From looks not as much as from what you tell. It does feel empty with modern games, that you just go and follow markers, dont use brains or adventure spirit. I miss it. I remember how i played Half Life 1 and it took me like 3 months of daily play as a kid. Ofcourse was young and started developing my gamer skills, but i was checking every aspect of game and corner, felt like i was part of it
This is what we need, devs taking risks to try something different. I think Kojima did a lot of good w/ Death Stranding by showing devs that they don't always have to color inside the lines. However, he wasn't wrong when he made the comment about FPS games bc the younger gen does set the market as they've become the majority so game studios are going to cater to that audience. Veteran gamers what something more w/ substance than just running around mindlessly shooting targets.
Will probably be my cup of tea. Best exploration game I've played is Subnautica, and that one had no real combat. There's true joy in exploring and discovering a world on your own. How does Ubisoft not see that it eviscerates its game's exploration by giving players a gps to go everywhere? There's no discovery that way.
As soon as I've understood that this is not a souls-like, but with the world that is usually on par with souls games, I've instantly locked-in. Very excited!
When i first seen the trailer, in a way it reminded me of Control. That dichotomy of regular people in familiar places mixed with alien looking structures and enemies. It honestly looks really interesting
