Such a WONDERFUL day! I fully expected this to have happened within days or weeks of the Cass Review being released to the public, but when that didn't happen and the weeks then months ticked by, I was starting to worry that it would all be fobbed off until a return of a Conservative government. So, wow, this is fantastic. Congratulations and thank you to EVERYONE who has fought and educated and lobbied for this for years.
There's an American reality show "I am Jazz" about a boy who has been through all of this and gone through surgery as well. He's honest that he cannot experience orgasm, or even sexual arousal. He expressed dismay that boys aren't attracted to him and now seems deeply depressed. His parents should be ashamed of themselves and we can only grieve for that poor mutilated boy. I wonder if he'd have grown up as a happy gay man. Bloody tragic.
I'm 100% sure he would have. How this twisted ideology -- that destroys women's sports and spaces and allows parents to destroy the bodies and sexualities of their gay and lesbian children -- became progressive escapes me. This is the most woman-hating and homophobic ideology I've ever seen in my life.
The most heartbreaking and devastating story. Yet we have “I am Jazz” the book suggested by our state education system for primary children to read and discuss in classrooms (New Zealand )
From the moment the interim Cass review was published this was inevitable. But it's also politically necessary. Giving PBs to children can lead to lifelong medical treatments, hugely expensive surgery and possible negligence claims. But the NHS is in a hole that Streeting and Labour need to get it out of. Its funds need to go to services for actual illnesses, not to funding artificial "identities".
Next we need a REAL BAN on puberty blockers ( unlike this partial limitation which really only requires enrolment in a trial, which the new clinic system makes a default for children branded gender dysphoric ).
Well done to all the ladies at Sex Matters. They have true compassion, willing to take the mindless abuse from activists to save the nations children from this horror. A big thank you to all who put up the good fight.
@@rosemarynew2173 I did expect it. @mikalina1 Please don't be misled into thinking this is a real ban. The so called ban actually only places a simple condition on puberty blocker use - which is enrolment in a so called clinical trial . That so called trial is a default option for children enrolled in the new expanded clinic system that replaced GIDS - meaning that there is effectively no restriction on that new clinic system using these interventions , even on the youngest children.

@lamington8195 it's also just as important to know that this isn't a real ban on puberty blockers. It just makes enrolment in a trial a tick box pre-requisite . And of course the Cass report recommend enrolment in a trial as a default for all children in the new expanded system that replaces GIDS.
@rodkipping it's about time for a genuine ban , which unfortunately this isn't . This only requires that all children having these interventions be enrolled in a ( supposed ) clinical trial . And the new clinic system that replaced GIDS offers enrolment in such a " trial " as a default for all children they receive as gender identity or dysphoria related referrals. You can’t justify puberty blockers except where there is a serious medical need - which gender nonconformity and confusion are not - because children can’t consent, end of story.
But that argues against itself...there is huge money in these operations. I imagine that you let the same mutilators-driving-BMWs decide if there is a serious medical need. This is Hillary Clinton logic....NO solution is perfect, so you pick the best.
Very true @LavenderBlume . Which is why you need to know that this supposed ban doesn't actually ban puberty blocker use on children. It just requires that those children be enrolled in a token mass " clinical trial " . Did you notice that the Cass review recommend that all children seen in the new expanded clinic system ( that replaced GIDS ) all have the option to be enrolled in a mass trial?
Is this a ban in private health care too? Originally it was only the NHS and were still going to be given to boys. It was also only a ban on under 16 year olds. I hope this really is a complete ban. My concern is that they said "outside of clinical trials". Clinical trials on children for a made up mental illness is still very wrong.
@Gwion-x8w better to put energy into exposing this fake " ban ' , and achieving a real ban on puberty blockers. This supposed ban is actually just a requirement that all children receiving these dubious interventions be enrolled in a " clinical trial". Pair that with an understanding that Cass recommended enrolment in a trial as a default option for all children in the new system, and you might need to save the celebrations for later. In fact of you are interested in legal ramifications, you might consider how this so called ban ( a requirement to sign a clinical trial enrolment , not a real ban ) might be understood more cynically as a plan for liability limitation, limiting future court cases by requiring children to be signed up for a trial. Have a really good think about the ramifications of that.
Except in clinical trials.. I hope there are some extremely well regulated parameters around what constitutes a clinical trial. Given the performance of GIDS and their shocking lack or record keeping for this horrible experimental treatments they performed on thousands of children before being shut down.
While it's good news, call me cynical but there's still an opportunity to experiment on children under the guise of a 'trial'. Which people might police this? The same biased people that handed out off licence drugs to minors and didn't keep any records??
@colleenlloyd9842 if this was actually a real ban on blockers I'd agree. It's actually not a ban at all - it's a requirement for children being subjected to these interventions to be signed up to a clinical trial ( and Cass has already directed the new expanded clinics towards a mass default trial ). This is effectively a liability limitation paired with clever propaganda to reassure the public while not actually protecting children . And re Australia, a couple of our pro-child-transition " health " propagandists have openly stated how they think the UK is actually moving more towards the Australian systems ( which I agree with you are horrific ) . They aren't completely wrong about what the new clinic system and the. Cass review really do. It's a masterwork of propaganda and false reassurances , while actually radically expanding the system which abuses children (via developmental disruption), and very cynically reframing the liability limitation "trial " requirement as a " ban ".
