    Such a beautiful model engine, 1MZ-FE. So unbelievably new. Like a unicorn. You never see it.
    I remember changing the rear spark plugs. But in a sedan. Less room, but you could still do it without removing intake. Stubby ratchet and two short extensions. The one close to the PCV on the passenger side was easy. And the other two were relatively not so bad.

    Thanks for the video. Question regarding,whether the part is OEM or not,how do you identify it ? Is there a unique or significant design of the O2 sensor,that will say it’s an OEM ? Because any O2 sensor manufacturer can label it “Denso”

  • @davidg5704
    @davidg5704 3 года назад +4

    I only buy Denso O2 sensors even though its expensive. Mush better quality. bought cheaper ones in past and they don't last. Is it ok to use dielectric grease on connector to prevent moisture and corrosion of contacts?

    • @nickv4073
      @nickv4073 3 года назад +1

      yes

    • @SeanPopify
      @SeanPopify 3 года назад

      No, no, no!
      Dielectric grease is not conducive! Don't let it touch the contact terminals! You can surround the connector, but do not interfere with the electrical connection itself!
      Same thing with spark plugs. Use a q-tip covered with dialectic grease to coat the rubber part of the coil, but do not let it come in contact with the electrical contact points. you want those little pieces of metal to be completely clean.

    • @nickv4073
      @nickv4073 3 года назад

      @@SeanPopify Nonsense. You know what's worse than a near zero loss of conductivity? Green crusties on connectors. The man said nothing about smearing it on spark plug electrodes.

    • @SeanPopify
      @SeanPopify 3 года назад

      @@nickv4073 Dielectric grease is commonly misused on electrical connections of all kinds.
      Dielectric grease is commonly used on spark plugs, commonly *misused* on spark plugs. Since the topic is car repair, it's good to throw those helpful things in, for future reference.
      DG could be used to prevent water getting into the area where contact is made.
      Context and comprehension is important. This is especially so when 1/100th of a volt or ohm could make a computer miscalculate another operation elsewhere in the engine.

    That thing is still under Warranty !! , especially if she's the Original Owner.
    The next proper step is to implement the one paragraph "OBD 2 Drive Cycle Test because all the OBD 2 Monitors were "Set To Not Ready" whenever we change a Battery or Turn a Check Engine Light Off.
    If ANY Vehicle is a 1996 & Newer vehicle & she has a Smog Check Appointment the same day or the next day, she'll & everybodys vehicle will FAIL the Smog Inspection if the OBD 2 Drive Cycle Test wasn't performed.

    Hey Peter what is the most common problem or reason that 3.4 5VZ-FE gives up? 🤔

    • @Brettisgg
      @Brettisgg 3 года назад +3

      around 500k miles the head gasket will start to go from most folks experience. otherwise, as long as you do basic maintenance no issues. If you have automatic transmission make sure to do the radiator fluid regularly to avoid the transmission cooler (inside radiator) from going and destroying the transmission.

    Hello, here is my problem. I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna(California ed.). It runs good. Gets pretty decent mileage and burns a little oil but has intermittently been throw the code P1050 and very occasionally with P1030. I tried looking up the codes and found 1030 is the variable valve sensor but have not been able to find anything on 1050. I keep getting directed to P0150 which I'm positive it's not.
    The 1050 code I mostly get by itself but occassionally it'll be accompanied with the 1030.
    The battery is on it's last legs, could that be what's doing this?
    Anyway if you would please let me know what P1050 is so I can finally fix it and start my how long journey who the heck knows of resetting the monitors, I'd be very grateful.
    Thank you.

      They can, but you save maybe $60 or so. And in process you could lose the customer. Depends on the shop, but many will say okay but pay more. Pay for diagnostic fee and maybe come back. No guarantee if money for the diag will be applied to repair.

    Hi, Thanks for the video, I have toyota corolla petrol 2002, one day the engine light came on and start loosing power (i had to high rev to drive the car), took to mechanic but the his computer cant read any code , not sure what else i can do. on low speed the engine light stays on but when i go high speed the engine light start fleshing. any guess please?

    • @LAactor
      @LAactor 3 года назад

      Clean the throttle body and MAF sensor first. Easy and then try again. If not, clean EGR and/or seafoam in the intake. Go to another mechanic, if light flashes is a catastrophic warning, but if not illuminated, not stored, need computer to check code history, not just active codes.

    That Sienna has had problems with the electrical system at 26k miles... Maybe that damaged the sensors... Or, more likely, the fact that it suddenly is being driven is loosening up a bunch of contaminants and it caused an overheat or some other damage to the sensor.
    They changed the timing belt and water pump at 30k... Gotta say this, the previous owners did the right thing basing service not only on mileage, but age as well.
    I wish I were so lucky. Every used Toyota I've seen in SoCal has been overpriced and in need of repair. The low mileage ones, especially!
    An elderly woman's son, selling her car said "perfect" and "excellent..." All four struts were leaking. Blown by her driving over curbs, no doubt. Electrical problems too.
    What does he do after I tell him about the problems after my test drive? He takes it into the dealer and pays for a $100 oil change, conventional oil no less, spent a bunch of money on fuel treatment and other useless stuff, yet didn't fix the struts, replace the tires or deal with the alternator/battery. Then he comes back and says he's raising the price. Basically, he said "I don't want to sell the car." It is at the highest range bluebook for an "excellent" condition car.
    I have a million of these stories. If they haven't tinkered with the odometer (I have seen a lot of that, completely documentable), actually maintaining it, they're asking as much in a private party sale as a dealer would for the same mileage and same model.
    They are drunk with the thought of becoming rich off of selling a 10+ -year-old Toyota.
