My grandfather made sure my dad learned everything about how to take care of a horse and how to ride cavalry. That was in NYC. That came in handy in the Pacific, when they captured a Japanese officer along with his horse. My dad was the only one who could ride it.

As a German and now 42 years in Canada. the nearest I ever came to the Austrian Hungarian empire was at the Ukrainian city of Lemberg. My taxi driver to my hotel could not speak a word English or German. After we reached the cobble stone street of the city. I did say the word Habsburg und we both understand that this road was build under the Habsburg Empire on or before 1918

As a child, in the early 1950s, I saw an "animation" on television of some robotic-type lines of soldiers marching in formation to the tune of the Radetzky March. Then a statue of a violinist "came to life" and starting playing and all of the military soldier-robots fell apart. I wish I could find someone to tell me the name of that animation! I believe it was an European production.
As a Pole I'd wish to say, I have kind of a sentiment towards the Austrian Empire. It was but only of our three partitors that actually respected our national identity and gave us certain rights. I love re march itself to of course. Been listening to it every year during the Vienna Philharmony New Year Concert 🎉 Would love to witness it irl some day

Quasi tutto il Nord Italia si era rivoltato contro gli Austriaci nel 1848, quindi non credo gli piacessero molto gli Asburgo e Radetzky.

@@Toreadorification la Marcia Radecki è conosciuta in tutta Europa ed è stata ascoltata alla Corte di Vienna. Non mi è chiaro perché l’Italia non presenti con più forza i suoi meriti nella Prima Guerra Mondiale. L'Italia è stata ingannata dopo la prima guerra mondiale ed è per questo che si è trovata dalla parte sbagliata durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Purtroppo noi serbi abbiamo saputo tardi di tutto l'aiuto che l'Italia ha dato ai serbi. Grazie e gloria alla fraterna Italia!!
