Beautiful. I wonder if Karl would be able to succesfuly reform the Empire and prevent the collapse, maybe there wouldn´t be ww2, if there would be a strong Austria-Hungary. Also shame that our representatives in newly born Czechoslovakia refused to give him asylum, so he died that young on Madeira, even tho he was associated with Czech lands and cared about us a lot. Gott beschütze Österreich-Ungarn. Indivisibiliter ac Inseparabiliter!
I have huge doubts in Karl's ability to reform the empire, it was bound to collapse, maybe not between Austria and Hungary themselves but the slavic parts of the Empire were to break away, only was a matter of time.
@@josselinperouse3323 Not really. Karl was a very competent Emperor, this is obvious even though he only ruled for around 2 years and had to fight a war. He combined his own knowledge and opinion with the one of others, such as his general staff in WWI and his family's and advisor's in other matters, so I think he would have reformed the empire kinda similarly to Franz Ferdinand's plans but not as radical. Also he cared about all of his people, so he would surely be popular also among other ethnic groups. Bohemians and Galicians were close to Austrians and would have been very unlikely to rise up, so I think the creation of a 3rd kingdom (Croatia maybe) and more rights to other ethnicities would be sufficient to prevent the collapse of Austria-Hungary.
@@whyareyoureadingthis1356 1. I don't consider trying to make peace at all costs and personally leading one's armies as "fucking up". The troops performed way better under his leadership (Franz Joseph rarely left his office during the war and let Hötzendorf fuck everything up). He wasn't singlehandedly the best strategist, but like George Washington he respected the opinion of his general staff and had a good military knowledge himself. 2. He sold the diamond (if we think of the same one) when he was in exile to finance a coup attempt in Hungary. The rule and dignity of him and his family was more important for him, there is nothing wrong with it.

This is actually kinda sad When you think of how bad the life in this country must have been, or at least in the romanian part, but then look at this friendly, happy and at the same time sad video, one thing gets clear to me. The austrians just wanted the best for their people, they tried to keep their empire alive but sadly couldn't do it. From what I know, Bohemians/Morravians were recognized as germans and they were proud of it. I am not talking about the Sudetenland but all of Bohemia and also other parts of A-H. Austrians were spreading all over the country back in the days to stabilize the situation. Those were sadly jailed, brought back to their homeland or even executed after ww2. In this video you can see how happy everyone is, even the soldiers which were actually supposed to stay in character were laughing and greeting the cameraman/people that watch this. And yes, I am german and live in the State of Bavaria, here we are having a very similar culture to the one of Austria and we often see Festivals like those we can see in this video in a very similar way. This video gave me flashbacks of festivals like the "Maifest" a festival where we put up a tree, the so-called "Maibaum" (not an actual tree, just a very long white and blue Wooden pole with a wreath at the top arround it) and celebrate the beginning of the May, but also the end of ww2 in Europe.
