- Meet the tuff golem, a statue with a twist - it comes alive! When the tuff golem awakens, it will walk around, pick up, and hold any item it comes across. Don’t worry, it will return to the same spot that you’ve placed it when it turns back into a statue. It may be a work of art, but you’re the designer!

Between this and the copper golem, I get the impression someone on the team wants to have a cute player created mob that moves around randomly. Btw! There's lots of information about these mobs that's isn't stated in the trailers but is important to know before voting :)

Art exibit is just one of the potential aesthetics you can pull off with the tuff golem. With its customizable clothes (poncho?) you can make them match the various environments and roles in a number of ways. They can be part of a factory lineup, walking around with various ores in hand, be store clerks, waiters at a restaurant, servants of a castle holding weapons for a knight, villagers assistant... and probably much more.
Even without a clear utility they bring in a lot of liveliness to the world being able to move items around as if they were other people carrying things. in some ways its just a display pedestal, but its also a blank slate type of mob that you can use to populate the world to simulate numerous scenarios.
I honestly think aesthetic mobs are underrated. We have so much in the way of automation and utility I think we could do with a little more focus on making world builds more alive. Of course there plenty of potential with some utility if there were a way to get tuff golems to deposit their items, or retrieve things from a dispenser... but im sure plenty of others will have their own thing to say on that.
Would they act as a solid block when they sleep? could we walk on them if that happened? could another golem sleep on another golem? You could probably make an interesting totem pole of Golems if they can stack on one another. Totem Golem confirmed? It would help if we could right click the golem to control when it wanders and sleeps. Since it returns to sleep at the spot it was originally made then spawning multiple in the same spot would be one way to make them stack on each other (what a wild platform that would become). Imagine the guy who'd go out of his way to make a secret platform out of golems that are locked away and only reveal the path when they are allowed to go back to their sleeping spot.
I'll stop dreaming as I have a bad feeling Tuff golem wont be winning :(
I totally agree with you some player don't realize we don't always have to have a useful mob. There are so many possibilities on how the golem could be used but i don't think it will win sadly

I do think a new type of golem is a nice addition to the game, but I feel like the sniffer is just too unique as a concept to just ignore it, and if it loses the mob vote I doubt they will ever add it in future updates (unlike golems that come in every shape and form)

Something that will bring more movement to the game sounds great, I like the potential this has: a futuristic factory for example, with moving golems as employees; assistants to villagers carrying around materials to help the villagers with their jobs, as well as just breathing a bit more life into the game.

There is a mod! It’s called “friends and foes”, right now it has the iceologer, great hunger, moobloom, glare and copper golem, I really recommend it

That’s a difficult thing because Minecraft stated they want the journey to be one block at a time. Adding easy automatic stuff like a golem that is made of tuff (an easy mineral to get) would ruin the games “one by one”

Make sure to read about it in the news section of the minecraft launcher! It looks like you can also determine its color by incorporating wool into its construction, and it won't throw away items you give it. It'll just keep holding it, and if it doesn't have anything, it will find an item on the ground to hold. It seems perfect for a museum

Honestly, I think this is my favorite, though I know it probably won't get picked. One, like I felt with the Copper Golem, it'd be so cool to have proper statues for builds, but on top of that, these also double as item displays. We don't really have options for displaying special items other than item frames, which aren't super great for presentation, so this would be really nice to have.
I would like to know more about how they work, though. Would you set them to go to certain spots? It'd be kinda unhelpful if they just wandered around and set up shop wherever they felt like, because then they'd just scatter around your base. The animation makes me think they eventually go back, but it's always a tossup on how accurate the animations are, seeing as how the Glow Squid having hypnosis was just for show.
All that said, the Sniffer is definitely close second.

I am 100% ok with purely cosmetic features being added to the game, but I do still feel the other two mobs have stronger reasons for existing. Actually, none of the mobs seem like they are going to add A LOT to the game. I think I am going to vote for the sniffer just because it has the most interesting mechanic and idea behind it. Also if an archeology update is coming, the Sniffer would be a perfect fit.
I wish we knew more about the updates before these 'mob votes.' As much as I appreciate the community engagement, it feels kinda... off. No other words in my dictionary feel right rn so I'll just go with "off."
Yeah, the sniffer is just the straight up better option here, since it and its (probably) slim selection of new, decorative plants still bring more to the cosmetics table than the tuff golem.
It would've been nice to actually get some sandboxy mobs in the mob vote for a sandbox game, but here we are...

Wow, I'm so happy with this I can't wait! Even more if you add more things like a soup with the frog lights, and after eating the soup you can swallow the mobs and double jump for 40 seconds

All this golem talk is making me feel like the Mojang team is trying to tell us something. 🗿The Mob Vote also works to see what kind of mob the community overall likes, it's very valuable user data. Interesting that they would present another golem this year; I wonder which decision(s) led to that. As always, I'm glad with whatever one we end up with!

My guess would be the sadness over the copper golem not making it. While complaints about mob votes afterwards are usual, they might have had the tuff golem concept already worked up

@@shevmgt5795 Well, it's the choice between a decorative golem, a more decorative sample of flora and fauna, and a game of hide and seek, which loses all its value past the mid-game. They all are incredibly poorly fleshed out, but out of these options, I'd say the sniffer is still the best.

I really like all three mobs, but I think the sniffer has my vote. They all look really cute, but the items the rascal gives you (at least those we know of) have easier ways to obtain them, and we already have many ways to transport items. What I find really exciting about the sniffer is that new plants (maybe even crops) would be added too.

Tuff golem : Adds a new mob / decoration that can move and can pickup items that you can use to show off items without people taking it (because the golem has it), that’s customizable with different colours (maybe), that’s probably easily made and maybe even adds hats. Also is really cute

This and the Sniffer are the two I wouldn't mind being added to the game. Even those these are ADORABLE, the Sniffer looks the most interesting in terms of variety and use so far. The Tuff Golem seems great mostly for RP in Minecraft, so to me that doesn't apply to everyone who plays. If I know of any other benefits it has, it may sway me! I just like how mythical the Sniffer looks where it's more unique than another golem type, plus it's an ancient mob that can be added to the LORRRREEEE

So far the Sniffer is the only one that seems to have an actual use and would bring more to the game, the other two I love but they feel like a small little treat rather than a new bonus
how often have you had modded extra flowers in the game and actually used them? Never. We JUST got an update with tons of plants
The rascal also seems usefull but a bit more complicated and doesn't bring much content

I wish they had a defensive mode. Like keep them outside your base and if a mob hits you, they come alive and if they're holding a weapon then they get a attack buff or something
eventually the golem suggestions are going to evolve into extremely useful things, but perhaps if they still arent voted, maybe they could become downright overpowered

Yeah, the sniffer is the best option, since it has the most impact on the game out of all of these mobs. But it still falls super far short of the functional potential, you could get out of reviving flora and fauna from a bygone, more fantastical era of the world.

Okay but usually for my Minecraft Worlds, I always try to build a treasure room. So if you made one, these could be useful for that!
Even if this is purely cosmetic, I really do like the mechanic of being able to display items without a item frame.
I like the mobs you create because theirs a fun feeling to creating servants that wander the place you make for them doing what they were designed to do. Theirs just not enough of them. Having Copper Golems that can wander around activating machines for you, Iron Golems protecting your property, Snow Golems creating snow and distracting mobs, then Tuft Golems that are basically butlers. I’ve been robbed my Copper Golems, I want my Tuft Golems
yeah because item frames don't display items in 3D but it looks like the tuff golem will. plus it can walk and bring objects to you
They might just have my vote, because when combined with custom model data resource packs, you suddenly have a way of creating custom mobs without any mods.
Doesn't matter, though--Rascal gives players free enchanted items and *is blue*. It's going to win for sure.
@@ethanb4ughan They actually do--the item just needs to have a 3D model (most don't). So, for example, any block placed in an item frame will be 3D.

with this golem, it's obvious mojang wants another golem, I don't think it's that hard to just add it into the game, even more if we're finally getting the archeology update after them splitting it into 4 parts

After looking at all those, I think I like the idea of having new plants in the game, from that weird turtle thing.

It certainly has the most impact on the game out of all of them, even with its plants only being decorative and it serving no other purpose than to generate these plants and look cute. There is a lot of potential here, that is sadly left untapped.
I hope that it could bring new crops for all the farmers like myself who enjoy farming but don't have many choices so we usually resort to mods.

I’m voting for it because of its lore. I mean, come on! A mob thought to be extinct! It’s like a coelacanth irl! And that also means the world of Minecraft used to have some mobs but now they’re extinct, which supports Matpat’s theory on the ancient builders now being an extinct species!

Sniffer: Just the cutest dirt pile ever, you hatch it yourself and see it dig up new plants for you to grow, adding more beauty to the world. A wholesome addition
Rascal: Gremlin that makes cave experience more fun, though it would be a bit redundant since iron isn’t that hard to find for yourself rather that chase a hoodlum 3 times. If they made diamond tools a rare drop or something then it would be interesting enough to invest in
Tuff Golem: Item frame, it’s basically an item frame with feet

At least the allay has a (faulty and messy) but a farming component... you can do the same thing with allays in glass boxes holding the item, or in glass pipes...
I dont cuz see how he holds the item so now we can have a statue that displays items so my vote goes to the golem
