  • This customer wanted to replace his Kohler Rialto one-piece toilet w/ a new modern comfort height toilet. He left that choice to me and I recommended a Toto Drake Comfort Height Elongated Toilet. My choice was the 1.6 g.p.f. version and to my dismay, could not locate one.
Why? Local Law 57 of 2010 (on.nyc.gov/3QLodYC) Because we're not allowed to install them in the Big Apple! The only available model was the 1.28 g.p.f. version which I decided to go with. The customer was thrilled with its performance and messaged me about how pleased he was with the fact that he didn't travel too far to sit on his new thrown.
Toto does a great job of getting the contents to evacuate the bowl on very little water (1.28 g.p.f.). I still wonder if it's enough water to get the contents from the source through the plumbing system and out to the city sewer. Your comments are welcome down below. Enjoy the video
    Regards & Happy Plumbing,

Hi Bob I'm a subscriber from over in the UK as well as being a fellow plumber and I enjoy all your videos that I've watched as it's good to see how you do things in the US , I just wanted to say that I find it unbelievable that you have laws in NY telling you what type of toilet bowls you are allowed to fit as here in the UK you can fit anything you like as long as it's fit for purpose and is manufactured to British standards.....
I also use a little putty on the tank bolts and have never had one leak yet...
    keep up the good work
    Thanks..... 👍

I miss my Drake II 1.28 I had installed in my old place in 2010. Not only did it flush way better than the old Mansfield 3.5, the cyclone action keeps the bowl relatively much cleaner.
When I moved I had a Toto Entrada installed to replace a Kohler (a 3.5 bowl which someone mounted a 1.6 tank onto; it wouldn’t even flush pee). My plumber was very impressed by my choice of Toto. The Entrada is considered an entry-level Toto, and is also 1.28 and I have used it daily for 4 years with no issues. But it is more of a straight wash-down rather than a cyclone and the bowl doesn’t get cleaned as well. If I’d known I would have spent a little more and gotten a Drake or Drake II with cyclone action.
Also for both, as I’ve said they work very well 99% of the time. When they DO get clogged (m notorious for using a lot of paper 😀) , they are very difficult to clear. But eventually with considerable effort they will clear.
My Entrada flush video for comparison: ruclips.net/video/T2NfEMKfg-s/видео.html

My spouse wants a new toilet but I feel if the older model flushes good no need for a new one using less h2o. Then I think there will be a problem with getting rid of waste. Besides the underside of toilet setting area is really shot. Don't know how to rebuild. Now there's a video for you to do. Thanks again.

On the drain valve they use 3" We're normally it's 2" I think that has something to do with it. But I also think some of the hunan waste are in the pipe going out to the street. You Need a pipe with a real good pitch to get it out to the street in my opinion

I have a couple of Toto toilets. I dread the day I have to find a new flapper. They don't appear available anywhere.
