Mike always makes it imperative for his children to focus on their education (but for the right reasons) and his stern talk with Greg at 2:54 is sheer proof of that. You even sense it in Mike's grave disappointment with Greg (in season 5) when the latter says that he will forgo a college education for a singing career, let alone being the fabricated "Johnny Bravo" to do it. And the same pattern is with Bobby, an aspiring race car driver, on "The Bradys" nearly twenty years later. Mike just wants the best for his family and that's why he's a great TV dad. Thanks so much for sharing this classic clip! RIP Robert Reed and Florence Henderson.
Although neither parent is an intellectual, Mike wants Greg to get "the best and the most education he is capable of." Sometimes I think Alice might have a college degree.
Going to college is important even if you plan on becoming a professional athlete. When scouts looks for possible players to recruit, they usually look for players on college teams.
Some do but most don’t. I’m saying that it’s good to have a backup plan in case you don’t make it to the big time. Not all recruited make it. Plus, some are forced into early retirement after suffering serious injuries.
Those who study hard and have talent in their field always have a job and can get another easily. If you party for 4 years and have a 2.5 GPA the end, you’re not going to set the world on fire.
When Greg told Marcia that he wanted to get to the field early in case there were any big league scouts around, did he possibly think that if he played as well as he thought he would, that they would try to get him to sign on then and there, and get into the big leagues that day? But it took the way he did play to knock him back to his senses. But if the score of 12-0 were in favor of his team, and he played really well, he obviously would have become more obsessed with basebalk, and become even more difficult to live with.

I love the Brady Bunch ❤

In the final season, Bobby abandons all his schoolwork to prepare to become a professional pool player.

Kobe got in the nba from HS
I thought only like about 4-5% of MLB players have college degrees!?
I said usually not always.

You need a backup plan!
The kids were SO Young!!!
Barry Williams got to act with Don Drysdale, Wes Parker, Joe Namath
Better money as Johhny Bravo !
PETER: " Then the coach gave Greg the hook " LOLOLOL
"I've got a great career ahead of me in baseball!" (drops the ball) You were saying, Greg?
It may be going to his head about Baseball. Down the line, he became a great student and graduated from High School with honors.
A college degree is no guarantee for getting a job.

1969 in fact is the most important year Mets won!?
I remember that year. I was in high school. And that was ALSO the year that the Astronauts landed on the moon.

Abner Doubleday didn’t invent baseball, that’s a false beleif, he was a kid in the 1830s
What’s this the one where he was in love with the teacher, and then her boyfriend turned out to be a baseball player?
Nope.
That was season 1. Her boyfriend was Wes Parker. This episode has Don Drysdale.
Beautiful blue eyes on Mike
Abner Doubleday had nothing to do with inventing baseball.
Who did?
@@stephenbladt99 Joe Biden..... He created the first baseball team. No Joke (or "Pause").

Gosh ... I hope it doesn't turn out that Greg totally sucks at baseball.
