Thanks bro you did amazing! I actually wanted Spain to finish 2nd I’d have been just as happy with third place but we just managed to rip about 7 extra points. Chanel did amazing!❤️
I always saw him in short videos, got to know about him there and never skipped his videos. I was so happy seeing him taking a part in Eurovision. Love from Serbia. Great future awaits him and nothing can jinx it, that's why am confident saying this
I was really rooting for Chanel and Spain, the Spanish team really delivered, it did not let down any fan, the show and the singing were perfect. I would be even more glad with a 2nd place, because it was deserved and because I wanted to travel to Spain next year for the ESC
I was at the family show yesterday. I was blown away by the public reaction. It was the most celebrated song in the arena. So did people at home apparently.
What an amazing show! I am very happy with most of the results. What a massive televoting success for Moldova 🇲🇩 and Serbia 🇷🇸! And what an incredible result for UK 🇬🇧 and Spain 🇪🇸! Very happy about Sweden 🇸🇪 in the Top 5 and Portugal 🇵🇹 in the Top 10. The main recipe for success in Eurovision nowadays is authenticity, originality and singing in your native language - that's exactly how it should be! It was amazing to follow this Eurovision journey with you, looking forward to the new journey towards 2023 now! ❤
I'm really surprised tonight but not at the same time. I was rooting for Serbia and I got really excited for a moment. I think in general I agree with the results. Ukraine had a good song and performance, as well as UK. I think we all need a moment to think and process everything that happened tonight. If you want to record another video about tonight's performances, I would love to watch it, Rachel! =) I really like your channel and your opinions. It really brings good things into my life. Also, congratulations for the amazing second place! Part II Ok I need to add some more comments now. Because, before the finals, I had a top 10 and AFTER the finals, my top 10 changed. Is that possible? Ok, here is my top 10 BEFORE the live performances: 1- Portugal 🇵🇹 2- Italy 🇮🇹 3- France 🇫🇷 4- Serbia 🇷🇸 5- Poland 🇵🇱 6- Greece 🇬🇷 7- Sweden 🇸🇪 8- Albania 🇦🇱 9- Iceland 🇮🇸 10- Slovenia 🇸🇮 And now, my top 10 AFTER watching the finals, which I did today: 1- Serbia 🇷🇸 2- Albania 🇦🇱 3- Portugal 🇵🇹 4- Sweden 🇸🇪 5- Poland 🇵🇱 6- Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 7- Czech Republic 🇨🇿 8- Iceland 🇮🇸 9- Greece 🇬🇷 10- Romania 🇷🇴 I don’t know why Italy didn’t go so great as I thought. Also I’m really surprised with Armenia because that live perfomance was so great. 😮 And I Love Azerbaijan now. I love Czech Republic so much. They have charisma. My favorite 1 after all, ended up being Serbia. Well, now I feel the void. 😂
Thank you my friend we very much appreciate your support and kind words. Believe me, every bit of support and love we can get really is priceless in our Eurovision journey in U.K. And we are grateful to you for it. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.❤️🇵🇹❤️🇺🇦
Are you serious that you did not put Ukraine in the top 10 and you put Albania second? Is this a joke. I mean I am albanian but her song was horrendous
@@Ardit-kq4bt Yeah LOL. I like her song! =) Now, let me know your top 10! Let's discuss about our tastes. ☺I respect that some people don't like my choices, but I mean. It's fine! I look forward to seeing yours. Have a nice day!
This has been a fun season, Ukraine's win was deserved, and all of my friends from Asia and Africa were so astounded by the level of energy and folk music they bring to the table. Them and Moldova were when we were vibing the most, and Serbia was so different it got us talking afterwards. Happy for you, and hope next year Eurovision will keep deliver quality!
Well done Sam!!!! We had a similar reaction to our televote/jury points here in Spain as you had with the UK! So happy to see us both in the podium after so many years 🇪🇸❤🇬🇧 Congratulations everyone!!! Much love ❤
I am okay with Ukraine winning. Surprised by the televote results though. Big congratulations for Sam on winning juries. I am happy to see Portugal in top 10. Disappointed with Poland's and France's results. Also the hosting and sound mixing were awful at times. All in all, lots of mixed feelings this year.
The UK thank you so much from Ukraine! We were voting for Sam, it was my favorite song, what a fantastic artist and performance, the voice of God, hair of lion. Thank you so much!
I would have loved to have heard Graham Norton's commentary when all those jury points came rolling in for the UK! I personally didn't like the UK entry but i am genuinely so pleased for you all and how he's really brought an entire country together behind him. You guys should be so proud of him! You and Spain pulled the biggest uno reverse card this year! Congrats from Australia x
My heart weeps for Iceland. They did not deserve to finish in the bottom five at all and I couldn't believe that they did so badly. :( Congratulations on the UK getting a great result too. Edited to add: Thank you so much for your wonderful Eurovision content, Rachel. It's been a joyous journey following along the contest with you this year, and you have quickly become one of my favorite ESC RUclipsrs. Thank you for your support and appreciation of Iceland and Slovenia too (absolutely rotten that they came dead last in the whole show,) and I can't wait for next year.
Iceland was a pee break for most people, who were then immediately woken up by Moldova. It was a bad position in the running order for a song like Iceland's, sadly.
Now you understand what we felt last year, being second when you're used to be in the bottom. We kinda exchanged places in fact! But Sam Ryder completely deserves it. I'm so glad that you had the chance to prove how worthy you can be! - love from France ❤
Thank you for your reactions and comments in the last few weeks! Me and my 8 year old son really enjoyed listening to you. I still can't get over Ochman getting very sort of average score from the jury. Based on professional opinions (I also listened to vocal coaches) he was in the 3 top vocals through out the whole eurovision. Why didn't the jury appreciate that? Ps. I'm happy for the winners though. And the UK did so well-congratulations! 😍
Ochman did have an outstanding vocal, in my opinion a better vocal than Sam Ryder has. My guess is the reason it scored outside the top 10 is the song comes across in the lyrics as if it might be about him drowning himself, and maybe the juries didn’t think it was uplifting Saturday night entertainment
So - I was on the Family Show of the Grand Final in Turin. And you know what - Moldova was the only band that made people move and dance. Whenever Moldova played everyone was smiling and dancing :D I was not surprised at all with their result. I was very surprised with Czech Republic, France and, unfortunately, Poland. I really think we (I mean Ochman by this) deserved better, especially form juries :(
With some low marks, a high mark for Ukraine seemed always likely. Felt deflated after their score because the show really was all over by that point. Interested to see the fallout of the voting irregularities and the semi-final results are quite interesting as well. Great video though!
I think the best part of the night is Serbia getting high televot points being first for 10 minutes after a lot of hate at the begining. So happy for my country
Rachel, thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion with us, it's been so enjoyable to follow your videos during the whole Eurovision season. You're not only a very talented musician but a very nice person as well. And congrats to the UK from Spain, about time we both leave the bottom placements after so many years 😊
Thanks for your vid & being so spontaneous ! Same emotional journey than you :-) A bit deceived for Poland...and France (( Cool for Moldova and obviously : congrats UK for that beautiful "Pravi" place !!
Lovely reaction as always! ❤️🇵🇹 A bit disappointed with only 36 points from the public (specially considering all those thousands and thousands of Portuguese spread across Europe) but that 5th place in the juries voting was pretty awesome! And, in the end, Europe showed their solidarity towards Ukraine 🇺🇦💪🌹
France was my winner so I was extremely saddened for them 😔 So happy both us & Spain turned our fortunes around this year with the juries and televotes 🥰
I'm going to miss your daily videos and great analyses. Thank you for your amazing work this year and I'll be waiting for your next ESC 2023 uploads. (btw I can't help myself but thinking that you are the twin of this years Greek entry)
for me the real winners of this ESC Spain for finishing 3rd with the juries with a bop, Serbia for finishing 5th despite a very low jury scoring, and the UK for going from 0 points in 2021 almost to the top. Congratulations to all the participants for giving us their best on the ESC stage.
Soooo happy for Sam! Such a nice guy! And also happy you're happy 😁😁 It has been a pleasure to watch your videos! Lots of love from Italy, and congrats Ukraine!
Congratulations to you all in the UK for a great result. It's a very good song, and he really nailed it vocally. And it is so good to see the country who gave us the Beatles, David Bowie and Radiohead finally taking the contest seriously again. It was so well deserved
Thanks my friend we really appreciate your support and goodwill toward us and your kind words. I really loved Serbia too. Regarding Serbia I was always a little troubled about the “broken” kinetic sun that blocked the beautiful LEDS we saw in the Serbian national final. Well, at least some of them. I think if we had been able to have the exact same backdrop she had in the national final it may possibly have come second to Ukraine in the results. Sadly, the situation with the kinetic sun hindered some artists more than others. But “in Corpore Sano” was one of the most outstanding and unique songs this year. I think the staging situation possibly subdued it’s full impact slightly. Which is sad. But she still did fantastic for Serbia. Overall I thought Ukraine did have a strong song, but I also believe it wouldn’t have won had the circumstances been different. Rap rarely does well at Eurovision so in ordinary circumstances I don’t think they would have quite won. But they still did an amazing job and just for been there and pulling that off, they are deserved winners I suppose.
@@cultfiction3865 Yeah, the "sun" was a bit of a Spinal Tap moment of the contest. I must admit that for most of the songs I didn't think much about it. But then, I don't really know what the entries were supposed to look like before it got stuck. In any case, it seems there were quite a few technical fluffs in the production this year, which is sad.
@@volodymyrsirenko8951 Thanks guys you did absolutely fantastic and today I will be playing Stefania as I’m doing my chores. Great performance last night, we love you guys ❤️🇬🇧❤️🇺🇦congratulations on the win!🥳
439 out of the possible 468 televote points for Ukraine. Before I say anything else, let me say, I recognize this win is a great moment for Ukraine and her people. I like Stefania as a song well enough. But now it's the time for the but. This is still supposed to be a "song contest". It's literally 2/3rd of the title for crying out loud. And no other year would that song get 93,8% of the maximum possible televote result. I mean we have 65 previous contests to base this argument of off. None of the winning songs got that big a result.
And? Eurovision is about fun, unity and peace. Its song contest - because we use songs to enjoy and celebrate those things. We didn't have competition for pandemics, this one - we are sending love to Ukrainians, let us have our competition the way we want it.
@@EmoBearRights Nope, Portugal in 2017 Grand Final got 77,6% of their possible max televote points and 76,4% of their possible max jury vote. That's still over 15 percentage points lower than Ukraine tonight.
@@mjm3091 The sad part is,if the war was happening in some other country,I don't think they would give pity votes, the victory to that country (I don't know, for example Armenia, Cyprus,Belarus,or Albania) there would be no "sending love",no chance to catch the first place. Why Ukraine have to be so special, with special treatment?
Well, a few surprises in there. Performance-wise, I felt that a lot of singers were either overwhelmed by the realisation that this was THE big final, or had simply used up all their reserves of energy in the semis and jury final. Czech Republic's singer was much pitchier than in the semi, and I felt the same for Finland, Italy, Greece, and even Poland in a couple of places. Meanwhile, Cornelia Jakobs has sung that song perfectly every single time I've seen it live. Even Chanel seemed out of breath earlier in her performance this time. They really did give it everything. And, of course, Sam Ryder also held it together when it mattered. That completely unnecessary fake guitar solo was cheesy and naff, but apart from that - he did all he could. Moldova - one of my faves, and I wanted to put them higher in my ranking, but I just couldn't see them breaking the top ten. And then seventh place?! As soon as I first saw the music video, I hoped so badly that they would do well with the public. Maybe they qualified a lot more easily than we all thought, too. Australia?! WTF happened there? I can't understand where their lost points went. Switzerland getting nothing from the public was a bit more predictable, and indicates to me that they scraped through in tenth place in the semi thanks to the jury vote. And, of course, Konstrakta will return home a national hero, and may well have kickstarted a debate about health insurance for artists in Serbia. I'm imagining crowds of people waiting at Belgrade airport, singing "Biti zdrava" and doing the hand movements as she gets off the plane. 🙂
Very happy for UK, Europe loves You, I assume the win of Ukraine is symbolic, we want all peace🕊🕊 Like your reaction so much, wish to be there, you are wonderful, getting more and more beautiful, wish lot of success🤗❤️💃🕺🎸
I am really happy for Lithuania. They were one of my favorites and I didn't undestand why they were so underrated by the media/odds before the contest. Thankfully Monika proved them wrong! I am also happy for my other favorite Portugal, although I am a little bit sad that it got buried by the running order
Btw Salvador Sobral still holds the world record with 758 votes and that's why i'm so proud of Portugal because even w a world chaos like that they can't overpass the record. Btw here in Portugal we agreed to kick Spain out of this peninsula bc giving us 0 points?I think they forgot about the aljubarrota war too early 😅Anyways great review/reaction :)
The Spanish júri vote is completely anachronic. They vote in all slow songs except for Portugal. They give the highest score to a song that receives 3 points from the all televote... That's not understandable!
Hello from Ukraine. The UK is great. I don't understand what the song is about, but it sounds amazing. I would vote for Britain, but thanks to Europe for your hearts
I love sweden for me was best song Sam was great to Ukraine has made a video of song that's so sad Rachel that there only could be one winner you put your heart in your videos well done
If Ukraine weren't fighting a war/had been disqualified earlier, the UK would have easily won. But honestly, this is our best result in 20+ years so i'm so freaking proud of Sam Ryder! Europe don't hate us! This is proof! I hope this is just the beginning of a new era for the UK! Sam achieved what he set out to do even if he didn't win because he inspired us all!
Ukraine didn't win in 2014 so the song had to be a top 5 contender regardless. And w/o Ukraine in this imaginary scenario so many points would have gone Moldova's way like you wouldn't believe (some Serbia and Poland's way out of Slavic bloc/solidarity), the results would have been very different altogether
No, if Ukraine weren’t fighting Spain would have won, since Spain has received more votes from the televote than the UK, but since Ukraine took all the votes from the televote, Spain came third.
@@EnriqueSP doesn't make sense, Moldova has beaten Spain in the televotes, Chanel lost to a flipping Balkan folk song, even if there was no Ukraine Moldova had 3 10s in countries where Ukraine scored 12 and Spain had 5 10s in countries where Ukraine scored 12, so Spain would only be about 4 pts closer to Moldova in the televote but still lose. And w/o Ukraine in the competition all Slavs and Balkans would have voted for Moldova way-way more so no chance for Chanel in the televote there
@@heppolo Moldova did good in the televote, but did not do well with the juries. Spain did both well in the juries (ending up 3rd) and well with the televote (it would have been 2nd if you remove the votes from a Ukraine). Therefore, Spain would have won adding both the jury and the televote.
@@EnriqueSP people just don't realize how many of Ukraine points would have gone Moldova way (as well as the jury vote ones), it would have been a completely different scoreboard, Moldova would have got like 350 televote points and about a 100 jury points for being a standout folk entry if there was no Ukraine.
Hi. Off the Eurovision topic, totally love the two poster pictures you have on the wall behind you, the look supernice. And by the way UK really did it this year. .
I hope that you've going to do the reaction of the results of Junior Eurovision 2022 soon, because your country (United Kingdom) is FINALLY returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest after a 16-year hiatus!
A nice idea, but I don't think it would go down well with the European public. They'd think, "Oh, I see - the UK have run out of ideas already, so they're just sending laughing boy again. Oh look - a dancing raccoon. Twelve points!" LOL
A good hair flip seems to get a guaranteed second place! First Eleni now Sam. But in all seriousness, we are now free from people blaming the B word for our bad results 🥳
Now people will blame putin for 2nd place. We are never gonna leave the drama are we? So proud of Sam for being such a positive contender and of course proving what we are capable of.
Actually, removing the effect of the war of Ukraine, your prediction would be right, since taking into account that Spain got more points in the televote than the UK, it would have taken proportionally a higher number of votes from those who voted for Ukraine and it would have won this year’s contest. Congratulations for the second place though!
Not really - it isn't something you could properly speculate on, cause there is no data for that. Spain already got the points from their block voters and their score probably wouldn't differ much more from this. If you check the results they didn't get any points from some countries and they mostly got so high, due to good amount of high points from few countries - where UK was universally accepted and got middle to high points from everyone and they didn't get max points from all of the countries that usually support the western fan faves/their block voters. The issue with all of this is that UK and Spain did horrendously in last years so its really hard to properly judge it. What you can judge though is the fact that Ukraine always does extremely good with televotes, which pushed them to the title many times before. They only needed 272 points from televotes to win. Which with how good Stefania is - and how much people talked about it, just for the music value I still think they would be able to get it. Or at least finish in the top 3, at worst - top 5. Aside Ukraine - this year top 5 was extremely close when it comes to points. Ukraine had 192 points - that's more than what UK got from Televotes and very close to both values Spains got for both scores. They only needed to offset Jury vote for UK, which was actually really high this year at 283. But again 272 isn't impossible. We had multiple countries with that score in past few years. It is also important to factor that war could have also affected Jury votes - they literally got no points from top contenders that year and other Juries could have tried to push down the song, to make competition more tight. Them getting less than 200 points wasn't really realistic and in peace scenario they would also probably get Belarusian and Russian votes, which are usually the block voters for Ukraine.
It doesn't work that way. Many countries that voted for Ukraine also voted for Spain and the UK, so you can't just split their points proportionally like that. For example, if Spain had gotten 3 points and Ukraine 12, without Ukraine they'd get 4 (so a change of +1). This isn't scientific or accurate, but probably works as a good approximation.
@@mjm3091 I think it is pretty evident that Spain would have won. UK ended up 5th in the televote, far from countries such as Spain and Moldova. Therefore, the most evident thing is that you either take away all the votes that Ukraine received that pretty much were all for obvious political reasons (which means Spain would have won), or you spread the votes of Ukrainians across the same proportionally as the overall votes that countries (except Ukraine) have received (which means Spain would have one still).
@@Kernel15 Exactly, so Spain would have won, because overall more countries voted for Spain in the televote, so removing Ukraine would have increased the televote received by Spain massively.
Thank you from Ukraine💗 Some people call it politics. But in the world everything is interconnected, especially in the modern world. How can we separate one sphere of life from another? I call it not politics, but humanity and solidarity of people.
Wow thanks Rachel, I was watching by myself with my cat and both of us were pumped with adrenaline right through the whole results. I’m so amazingly happy for the U.K. because this will have proved to people here that the voting isn’t political against the U.K. But it’s about the quality of the song and artist that is sent. I’ve literally had tens of people in the U.K. say to me over the last 10 years “oh it doesn’t matter what we send it wouldn’t ever get anywhere cos it’s all political.” And I kept telling them that was rubbish and it’s cos we keep sending really bad songs but these bigots just wouldn’t listen to me. And now Sam has proved them wrong(I’m eternally grateful to him for this) U.K. has proved them wrong, Europe has proved them wrong, and I’ve proved them wrong too. Even earlier today I went into the bookies (I’m not a gambling man but once a year I’ll put a small bet on Eurovision) and when the woman saw the U.K. odds I heard her say “who on earth has given the U.K. 9/2 odds to win?”sounding gobsmacked and shocked. And what’s even funnier is the guy next to her leaned his head over and said “It must be because Ukraine are first and U.K. is supporting them in the war that they’ve done it.” Straight away the idea that it could have been anything to do with the quality of the song just didn’t enter their psychology because for too long it’s been tattooed in so many British peoples brains that we cannot do well at Eurovision because of brexit Or some garbage like this. And we’ve proved them all wrong. Sorry again for a crazy long message but, well, I believe in self expression.:) Thanks for been such a great mentor to me in Eurovision subtleties and mechanics. I’ll remember to tease you over Latvia not qualifying and you can tease me over my misplaced confidence in Marius Bear. 🤣🤣😂
Yes that ideia that we hate you is nonsense. We love your movies, TV series, football, comedy and specially music. Is true that geographic location are important and you and my country ( Portugal) don't have many neighbors but you aren't never hated 🙂❤️❤️ And Sam and the song are amazing , wasn't in my top 5 before the show but definitely was after 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇵🇹🇵🇹❤️
By the twist of fate, if as you say the UK's previous bad results weren't "political", this year the UK, given how the vote went, would most likely have won if there wasn't this damn war, and so if before he had not lost for politics, this year he did not win precisely for politics
@@francescojsb Sure thing, although what people don’t see is that it’s not the contest that’s political, it’s people that are political. Every single country of the 40 countries apart from just a few of them awarded Ukraine 12 points in televote. The words “song contest” didn’t really apply to this years winner since it had been decided before the show that Ukraine would win it. They never really needed to compete for anything. It was a dead cert win for them. And it can never be a contest in that kind of situation. The real contest started at the number 2 spot and we got number 2 so, in a Sense we did win the “contest” we just didn’t win it at number 1, but number 2 instead
When you screamed, when Italy gave us 0 points? I did. And gave 6pts to UK. And that was exactly the difference betweetn them and us. So, Italy, non sei zitti e buoni con noi xDDD
@@Mariana-xt9co Yes... that was harsh, you gave us 12 haha But you finished 9th starting 3rd in the running order. That's a magnificient result for Maro!
I'm not gonna say that Ukraine didn't deserve the win, cuz i didn't really have a favorite this year, so i didn't really care, but the amount of televote points is just ridiculous. They basically got an average of 11.2 points from each country, so most of them put Ukraine at #1. Even if Ukraine did have the best song, the gap in quality/appeal can't be so huge that it would justify such a one-sided result. I think this is the first time that the televote felt more politically charged than the jury vote.
It was always a dead cert that Ukraine would win it because people in general are predictable. At 15p a call it’s one of the cheapest and easiest ways they can express their solidarity with Ukraine. In such circumstances people will always be about as predictable as the rising sun. There was never really any chance that any other country would win. I would have loved to have seen what would have happened had Ukraine actually sent a really bad song like Bulgaria’s entry this year. Would it have still won? 😱
- My gosh, my precontest favourite actually won the whole thing... by the biggest amount of points anyone has EVER received from the televote. I understand the implications, and this won't sit well with everyone, but y'know what, a great song won (indeed the best one), and I'm just gonna forget them and celebrate it with the Ukrainians
The contest isn't just about music - it never was. It's about having fun and unifying the Europe. Sending a clear support message to Ukraine was what we decided to do and it fits the origin of the contests that was created to promote peace. You people take Eurovision way to seriously. Please touch some grass and let us enjoy the show. It was unanimously picked. Only few countries gave less than 12 points and only 3 went less than 10.
Thanks for your pure reaction. Greetings from Ukraine. I can't judge Ukraine. This is not correct. However, in my opinion, the UK had a very strong performance. Also liked: Estonia, Australia, Sweden, Moldova, Lithuania, Germany, Spain. And in general this year there were very good songs. Thank you all.
She is not such an Eurovision expert if she is not aware that Lithuania has many emigrants across Europe who vote for Lithuania the way Ukrainian refugees did vote for their own from abroad this year : ) we got substantial emigrant groups in UK, Ireland, Norway and even Denmark. There is no chance Lithuania will only get 30pts from televote, lady, because we get more than that voting for ourselves on our own (I mean the emigrant votes... unfair but true). So if there is any extra call from the locals in every country our televote is gonna go way above 30pts. This only highlights how unfair Eurovision is, but this is the honest truth.
I'm happy for UK because last year many fans thought that Europe hates you, so I think that this year's result will change their minds 😂 (Still wasnt my winner tho)
Sam Ryder had grown to be my actual winner this year, and I'm so proud of him. Not to mention his song is one of the very few I'll be listening to for a long while... 'cause this year was really weak from my point of view. I'm not gonna lie: I always guessed Ukraine would win, I can see why they did, I can even share to some extent the common feeling this victory is generating right now, but objectively, I don't see anything good in letting politics affect Eurovision this way... and I can't convince myself it wasn't the case. I'm sorry. Anyway... as an Italian I'm proud of our placement. I know Ale and Ric weren't at their best these days, they were probably exhausted. Nonetheless, it's our 9th top-10 placement in 11 editions, and a 6th place for a host entry is definitely not something we see every year. Now, dear Rachel... I think after checking around for a while I'll have to leave all this stuff behind for a while, 'cause I'm probably as tired as our two good guys 😔 Eurovision has seemed to be attracting some of the worst human energies this time, and if I wanna be here next year, I really need to disconnect. Thank you very much for your immense kindness and professionality. You're the very best part of this community.
There is nothing political about Ukraine's win. The song was about the lead signers/rappers mother. It took on greater meaning when Ukraine was invaded by Russia representing all the mothers of Ukraine and the world tbh. The meaning shifted because they are now in a war that they didn't ask for. Do you think that they want this war? Do you think they fabricated this war to make their song political? It was a natural evolution of the songs meaning and it imminated with the European public. No one let "politics" in . The song was written before the war and ultimately the lyrical content of the song has quite literally NOTHING to do with politics. It was simply an homage to his mom that turned in to something with a deeper meaning. Because I repeat the nation is being invaded and mothers and children are being raped and murdered daily. This belief that the song won for solely "political" reasons and not because it wasn't a good song to begin with is insane to me. The song struck a cord with Europe and that is that. You are looking for a reason to dislike the song and challenge its victory when there isn't a reason to. If you want a Eurovision Song Contest filled with a bunch of cheesy, uninspiring, joke songs than that is on you. Any of the songs with a deeper meaning whether it be Greece, or the Netherlands, or even the UK would have taken on a deeper meaning with Europe and the Eurovision fandom if they were facing the same situation that Ukraine is right now. Songs naturally evolve, lyrics become more meaningful during times of strike, that's how music has worked and always will work. Songs become anthems during times of tribulation. There are tons of songs that have been created throughout history that draw on historical context, present situations and the human experience that become deeply meaningful. Music is a global phemonon that trancends language and connects with everyone. I just find it annoying that you clearly don't have an understanding of how music has always impacted the world in many different ways and if you want kitchy unfeeling songs that invoke zero emotion than go watch Junior Eurovision. Also if this result means anything than it shows that Eurovision is fulfilling its initial goal to unify Europe around peace and prosperity. Europe elevated an inspiring and impressive song to victory signaling to the world that the people of Europe believe in the message of peace and prosperity above all else. Its a unifying moment to say the least.
@@jasonburmeister4746 I see you pointlessly mad... and in any case, you've chosen the wrong target for your vent. Nowhere I said the song had something political to it (in case you still ain't learned to read), nowhere I said I dislike the song either, and all your zealous explanations about its origin and meaning just smashed an open door with me. But one thing is the song itself, another one are the Eurovision dinamics... that we ain't found out this year. If bookmakers could justify their prediction by the social (if you don't like the word 'political'...) influence of war on people, why can't I? Anyway, that is just how I feel about a contest of this kind, it's not about Ukraine exclusively. And it's quite irrelevant at any rate 'cause I'm used to respect the result of voting, especially when it's determined mainly by televoting as in this case. I'm not like all the Spaniards around here who have the nerve and arrogance to tell everybody whom they should've voted, and are now so green about not winning they couldn't keep themselves from raising hell in the community: people just vote what they wanna vote. And people voted Ukraine. So, chill. And by the way, you don't know me, and don't know anything about my musical tastes. So keep your judgements to yourself.
Ukraine may not have won in a 'normal' year, but that does not mean they did not deserve to win. Eurovision was founded in the shadows of WW2 to bring the nations of Europe together in a festival of music. Never since has that mission been so important. Look at the public vote. That's not politics, it's solidarity. They didn't pick a song, they chose an anthem.
And this is how a true Eurovision fan and a lovely human being reacts. With love. Thank you so much for it. Congratulations, Ukraine. Well done, UK.
Exactly! The hate for Ukraine currently is awful
We shared bottom 3 for a long time, now we’re both in the top 3. Congratulations UK, Sam is a big superstar. Love from Spain! 🇪🇸❤️
Thanks bro you did amazing! I actually wanted Spain to finish 2nd I’d have been just as happy with third place but we just managed to rip about 7 extra points. Chanel did amazing!❤️

I was really rooting for Chanel and Spain, the Spanish team really delivered, it did not let down any fan, the show and the singing were perfect. I would be even more glad with a 2nd place, because it was deserved and because I wanted to travel to Spain next year for the ESC

I knew Moldova would do well the moment their video dropped. Folklore and Rock & Roll!

I’m so proud of Spain and UK this year! Chanel 👑 Sam ❤️ it was also a pleasure to watch your reaction 🥰 you are so sweet and funny 👏🏼☺️
Part II
Ok I need to add some more comments now. Because, before the finals, I had a top 10 and AFTER the finals, my top 10 changed. Is that possible? Ok, here is my top 10 BEFORE the live performances:
1- Portugal 🇵🇹
2- Italy 🇮🇹
3- France 🇫🇷
4- Serbia 🇷🇸
5- Poland 🇵🇱
6- Greece 🇬🇷
7- Sweden 🇸🇪
8- Albania 🇦🇱
9- Iceland 🇮🇸
10- Slovenia 🇸🇮
And now, my top 10 AFTER watching the finals, which I did today:
1- Serbia 🇷🇸
2- Albania 🇦🇱
3- Portugal 🇵🇹
4- Sweden 🇸🇪
5- Poland 🇵🇱
6- Azerbaijan 🇦🇿
7- Czech Republic 🇨🇿
8- Iceland 🇮🇸
9- Greece 🇬🇷
10- Romania 🇷🇴
I don’t know why Italy didn’t go so great as I thought.

So happy for Moldova, the most entertaining, authentic and exciting performance this year. Brings joy to all of us!
Well done Sam!!!! We had a similar reaction to our televote/jury points here in Spain as you had with the UK! So happy to see us both in the podium after so many years 🇪🇸❤🇬🇧

Your presentation was just brilliant. This lady must get a job with Eurovision. And she's fun and beautiful. David from UK.
Congrats UK!! It was a big surprise! I'm very glad Ukraine won because it really was my favorite song! What a banger 🎉

Congratulations on the UK getting a great result too.

Thanks for your commentary, insight, fairness and enthusiasm in your reactions this year.
Congrats to Moldova. After Ukraine, they are second in public votes. This is that matters, they are my winners:)
@@cultfiction3865, you're probably right!

You are soo sweet thanks for your support I remember your reaction on Stefania and loved it!
I think the best part of the night is Serbia getting high televot points being first for 10 minutes after a lot of hate at the begining. So happy for my country

Cool for Moldova and obviously : congrats UK for that beautiful "Pravi" place !!
France was my winner so I was extremely saddened for them 😔
So happy both us & Spain turned our fortunes around this year with the juries and televotes 🥰

Portugal did!
Why should every year be the same?
@@EmoBearRights Nope, Portugal in 2017 Grand Final got 77,6% of their possible max televote points and 76,4% of their possible max jury vote. That's still over 15 percentage points lower than Ukraine tonight.
@@mjm3091 The sad part is,if the war was happening in some other country,I don't think they would give pity votes, the victory to that country (I don't know, for example Armenia, Cyprus,Belarus,or Albania) there would be no "sending love",no chance to catch the first place. Why Ukraine have to be so special, with special treatment?
We were 2nd by just 7 points over Spain and we got a 12 points in the televotes from 🇲🇹 (Malta) where your family blood is ♥️
Good old Malta showing UK some love 💕
Congrats from italy for 🇬🇧 ❤
Very happy for UK, Europe loves You, I assume the win of Ukraine is symbolic, we want all peace🕊🕊 Like your reaction so much, wish to be there, you are wonderful, getting more and more beautiful, wish lot of success🤗❤️💃🕺🎸
Sam did an amazing performance last night, so he deserved to win the jury votes.
I am very happy because Spain (my country) and UK are top 3.
I am really happy for Lithuania. They were one of my favorites and I didn't undestand why they were so underrated by the media/odds before the contest. Thankfully Monika proved them wrong!
I am also happy for my other favorite Portugal, although I am a little bit sad that it got buried by the running order
Monika's song was one of my favorite this year.
I voted for her few time. With love from Ukraine))
I fell for the song at the first listening. I'm really happy she did well in the televote with a jazz song

Дякую. Дуже мила реакція : )
Thanks from Ukraine)!

I really truly hope that Sam Ryder comes back next year 🙏
A nice idea, but I don't think it would go down well with the European public. They'd think, "Oh, I see - the UK have run out of ideas already, so they're just sending laughing boy again. Oh look - a dancing raccoon. Twelve points!"
LOL
Sam or Chanel deserved the win. These two are the real superstars of this year’s contest 🏆
Happy for Ukraine, we stand by you, happy for Portugal, Maro we love you! 💛 Also congrats UK!
Hi from Ukraine, thanks for your support ! I'ts very important for us)
Actually, removing the effect of the war of Ukraine, your prediction would be right, since taking into account that Spain got more points in the televote than the UK, it would have taken proportionally a higher number of votes from those who voted for Ukraine and it would have won this year’s contest.
How about Only one unique style:folk and rap ,as supposed to every one else -same o
Thank you from Ukraine💗
Some people call it politics.

I’ve literally had tens of people in the U.K. say to me over the last 10 years “oh it doesn’t matter what we send it wouldn’t ever get anywhere cos it’s all political.”
And I kept telling them that was rubbish and it’s cos we keep sending really bad songs but these bigots just wouldn’t listen to me.
And what’s even funnier is the guy next to her leaned his head over and said “It must be because Ukraine are first and U.K. is supporting them in the war that they’ve done it.”
Straight away the idea that it could have been anything to do with the quality of the song just didn’t enter their psychology because for too long it’s been tattooed in so many British peoples brains that we cannot do well at Eurovision because of brexit Or some garbage like this.
And we’ve proved them all wrong.
Sorry again for a crazy long message but, well, I believe in self expression.:)
Thanks for been such a great mentor to me in Eurovision subtleties and mechanics.
I’ll remember to tease you over Latvia not qualifying and you can tease me over my misplaced confidence in Marius Bear. 🤣🤣😂
Yes that ideia that we hate you is nonsense. We love your movies, TV series, football, comedy and specially music.
Is true that geographic location are important and you and my country ( Portugal) don't have many neighbors but you aren't never hated 🙂❤️❤️
And Sam and the song are amazing , wasn't in my top 5 before the show but definitely was after 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇵🇹🇵🇹❤️
By the twist of fate, if as you say the UK's previous bad results weren't "political", this year the UK, given how the vote went, would most likely have won if there wasn't this damn war, and so if before he had not lost for politics, this year he did not win precisely for politics
Bless you

Obviously it was political but Ukraine deserved to win they are in the middle of a war you know
@@cultfiction3865 it was 50 cents where i live
you guys only had to pay 0.15/0.5? where i live the votes were 1.20
Well I mean, people decided to vote them, i think it's a beautiful gestire of solidarity🥰
❤💙💛❤
Congrats UK! Well deserved, great performance. ❤
Politics won end of story
What makes me sadder is that most of the public don't care about the music only politics.
@@mjm3091 Malta and North Macedonia gave 8, Serbia gave 7

Thanks for your pure reaction.
Greetings from Ukraine.
I can't judge Ukraine. This is not correct.
However, in my opinion, the UK had a very strong performance. Also liked: Estonia, Australia, Sweden, Moldova, Lithuania, Germany, Spain.
And in general this year there were very good songs. Thank you all.
You are so cute and professional in same time, I really enjoy listening to you 🙏
She is not such an Eurovision expert if she is not aware that Lithuania has many emigrants across Europe who vote for Lithuania the way Ukrainian refugees did vote for their own from abroad this year : ) we got substantial emigrant groups in UK, Ireland, Norway and even Denmark.
UK 🇬🇧,Serbia 🇷🇸👏👏👏👏
Hi! I would love to see another video about this grand final in a few days) thanks from Ukraine💙💛
I voted for Sam. He Is my winner❤🇮🇹
What a lovely reaction when Ukraine got their points, I shed a tear or two myself
One of these - 🥲🥲? 'Cause, me, too. Pff 😂😂
She's so sweet I can't
I'm happy for UK because last year many fans thought that Europe hates you, so I think that this year's result will change their minds 😂
(Still wasnt my winner tho)
You are Europe just like everyone else, you have only been smarter to leave the EU.
