It is important to know the difference between emotional stability and materialism. There are many people who are poor and follow frugal lifestyles who do not have harmony in life. Emotional stability is a separate issue. Do not romanticize frugality thinking it is the key to emotional stability. Having less gives you more opportunities to witness yourself. But you must still do the work of dealing with your demons.
Great point. I would say however, it can assist with emotional health. Frugality can contribute to a decluttered mind, and that in turn, helps with meditation.
In English, we have what is called “the impersonal you” which means “one,” not “you” personally as in “You, jackass!” Ergo, in the first comment, the writer means, “One goes to work . . .” Hope this helps to clarify the issue. Kudos to the first commenter!
great video ! I will say this I've been my happiest after 2 marriages , 3 children , and "having it all" when I had a 35 liter backpack with everything I needed and living for months on various long distance hiking trails (Appalachian , Pinhoti , and Pacific Crest Trail) once getting back to "civilization" my mind becomes anxious and my body feels sludgy
Yes, I live in the Adirondack mountains in upstate NY, I hike at least 4 days a week for 4 or 5 hours. I have to climb and escape to keep my mind balanced. I am a minimalist and try to get off the internet. Too much RUclips can be toxic
I drink water out of a glass bottle my wife got from a gt kombucha. I drink tons of water and the cost is basically free. Every bottle makea me feel like a rebel and i am beating the system lol
I've been oracticing frugality ever since my father died when I was 16. I don't need to compromise comfort and I don't need luxury. The only compromise I made is not having my own family otherwise I'd slip into poverty in a heartbeat in today's world economy.
No matter where you go there YOU are. Being frugal doesn't bring calmness. Calmness beings frugality. First ditch the striving for crud. Then you can begin hour journey - BUT - remember this one thing (this interconnected chain)... All money comes from someone else. All money is someone elses debt paid into the system and circulated. All debt carries interest. More money MUST be injected into the system to cover the need for the extra money which covers interest and savings. Banks sell a product called Debt. With it you can make your dreams come true. The only way any business grows is by selling to more people, for higher margin or more often to the same people. This includes banka. IF we all said. Nuh I am out, no more borrowed money for me, i will save what i do not spend and live frugally, the economy would collapse overnight. "They" dont want that so you just be convinced to consume, to keep the machine turning. We, as individuals can be frugal, but as long as the majority are not then the system keeps pumping away.
Even the word of God says, seek ye first the kingdom God and all these shall be given unto you. Money is not everything but Salvation is.... Jesus loves Y'all
I don't know why so many people assume we work to buy crap. From Portugal, to France and several places in the UK, I've seen most people work to pay bills and still need to grow children in terrible places and eat edibles instead of food. It's not "consumerism", it's attempting to have the bare minimum.... for the family. The ones that can consume, please keep doing. It's food on the table for other people. Having that said, if you decide not having a family, then do a favor to yourself and have a simple life.
In today's society we collect liabilities, instead of assets. The latest car, phone, fashion clothing, designer branded items like handbags and watches. What is the difference between a rolex and a cheap watch they both tell the time whilst one costs an absolute fortune and the other a few dollars euros yens or pounds but they both will tell you the time. What is the difference between an asset and a liability an asset earns you money, and a liability costs you money. Today we are too susceptible to peer pressure, adverts endorsed by so called celebrities, our own arrogance, our need for self gratification, therefore these people collect liabilities.
Buy land in Africa. Build a house and have yourself a little farm with a few local workers. You'll never be happier if you live as your workers do. Joy is found in human relations, food and drink and nature. No fancy cars or gadgets

When will our culture wake up to this?
it was government master plan. Government want indebted servant. Not free thinking people
Always remember the government has its master, the government is the puppet the masters pull the strings. Look deeper for the truth.
Culture is statistical reflection. Culture doesn’t wake up; people wake up.
