Resident evil 2 did an awesome job of making each area memorable. The entire time playoff the game I would always try to imagine how each room was used and occupied by before the virus outbreak and while it was just beginning. Then there was the feeling of safety and relief you would get everytkme you came across a save room.
Yeah man the Spencer is just horrifying because both the games re1 remake and re5 dlc implies that there are more horrors residing under it then what you have already seen and Lisa Trevor's presence is a cherry on the top already ❤️❤️
I think The Police Station from RE2 deserves a mention that place is basically a Mansion its self. Especially The Remake one i got so lost in that damn huge Musuem Mansion Station and i nearly got cut to pieces by a Licker. Respect and keep up the epic work.
I just Ask myself one Thing, what did the Researcher of the Spencer Mansion or the Cultists of Castle Salazar if they need to go to the Bathroom? I mean there is litarly one Single Bathroom in the Spencer Mansion and if i remember right the Salazar Castle hasnt even a Bathroom😂
Lady D’s Castle at #1? Idk feels like a little bit of recency bias there on top of the internet being all gung ho about someone who isn’t exactly all that interesting (to me). The Mansion in top 3 yeah but idk about the castle. I guess if we are going on aesthetics alone then fine but even then it certainly should not be #1. Maybe 3 or 4.
Nope. Spencer Mansion is still the best and scariest location in the entire franchise. The remake only made it better. Baker Residence comes second, and then Dimitriscue's castle rounds out the top 3.
I would love a remake of a remake for Resident Evil. Expand on the mansion especially, more expand on lore, zombies and characters. Like actually see and play each Bravo team member before their demises. Then onto Alpha teams story.
I seriously don't think there's a single setting in a video game that scares me more than the Spencer Mansion, both in the original and the REmake. I pretty much consider it the Overlook Hotel of video games, in that just about every single room and hallway fills me with dread. The tight corridors, the weird decor, the gaudy wallpaper... and that's before you add the evil residents. This series has had so many scary monsters, but something about those original Spencer Mansion zombies just creeps me out big time. Not even the Hunters who take over later freak me out as much. Castle Dimitrescu is nothing to sneeze at either! Exploring that place was a blast.

I love the atmosphere in horror games of the PSX/PS2 era, games like fatal frame and Resident Evil 4 were great exmples of this.

I think visually, the castle is the best but I practice, nothing beats the re1 Spencer mansion

Spencer mansion will always be my fave. It's dark, it's scary, it's hiding so much more horrors than what we see, it's iconic.
