Me. Did a covid test but negative, thankfully. However there was body aches and almost a fever, unable to sleep. Just very uncomfortable. Can't swallow without bring painful. Taking garlic, ginger tea with honey and lemon. Gargle water. Doctor sai no to antibiotics 😔

Hi my sore throat has pus and i have fever high and low twice or thrice a day went to the doctor a while ago she recommended me antibiotic and lozenges twice a day.
I worked out I had bacterial tonsillitis I had white spots in my tonsils and it was inflamed and I had a huge amount of razor like pain and I had drooling. Could barely eat or drink. Ended up getting anti biotics for 10 days 2 pills twice a day. Feel a bit better. What is really helping is eating 'cool' baby food like yoghurts, spinach and I have had a few vanilla icelollies which really have helps. I do find cool milky substances really really help. I can't eat anything rough even grapes, hashbrowns. Cod without the breadcrumbs is great. avoid lemon drinks. Go for cool or icecold milky drinks

Is it bad if I get diagnosed strep without getting a strep test or throat culture? I’m taking augmetin and it’s day 3 and the pain seems to be a little bit worse but I don’t have that high of a fever anymore (peaked at day 1 with 101.9)
Great video. Quick question Why don't doctors swab the throat like they used to when I was younger? Our GP practice seems so keen to give antibiotics out with no verification that bacteria is the cause. Even more so since covid.
I understand the methodology and intention here, but I can’t help but find this really, really unnecessary. There are tests for strep throat for this exact reason - it shouldn’t be a guessing game in the first place. I recently had a fever of under 100 with no white spots/pus. I was later confirmed to have strep throat and antibiotics cleared me right up. But based on this criteria, I wouldn’t “qualify” for the treatment I needed? Silly.
Everything that this Dr. Said in this video happened to me. They tested me for strep and it was negative. So she said would just prescribe antibiotics. Which now after watching this video I realize how much of a crap shoot guess that was. Here I am now, having had this sore throat for 3 weeks but after the antibiotics during week 1 the sore throat has INTENSIFIED so much!! It's painful and irritated and mucus-y. If I would have seen this video first, I would have asked the nurse if she really thinks it is a bacterial infection or if it's just a viral infection. From watching this. A few other YT Drs, I now know that majority of these sore throats are viral infections. Apparently that's what I have because it's still here and the antibiotics have only intensified it because now the bacteria in my body has fought against it more. Everything he said in this video was valid and necessary. If antibiotics worked for you, then your sore throat must have been the bacterial one, but it's not as cut and dry as 'You don't have strep, so here's some antibiotics'.
@@thelovelyvalc I'm sorry you had to go through that, but that doesn't discredit what I said. You tested negative for strep, so why you were still prescribed antibiotics is beyond me. I never said every sore throat should get strep, but that "there are tests for strep throat for this exact reason - it shouldn’t be a guessing game in the first place." If you test positive, you should get antibiotics. If you test negative, you shouldn't.
I love your videos but let's face it... there is no normal access to doctors in the UK. You talk about watching over the next 48hrs but then you must book another appointment which at best woudl be in a week.
Completely agree, in the UK the average wait could be up to 2-3 weeks. We are atm just overwhelmed with appointments and not enough docs, unfortunately.
Lucky if you get antibiotics off the doc now you can go three months with a bacterial chest infection and then...you will get them meanwhile you suffer 3 months

If the patient presents to you with symptoms that started within the last 48 hours why not do a simple strep test if their score is over two? Why would you risk them having untreated strep throat when a very simple test could tell you? Not hating or judging, genuinely curious.
Great question, I know some countries work with this system and it sounds great, in the UK we dont have access to immediate strep tests so we do this scoring system which has a good level of accuracy.

Okay so i was diagnosed with tonsilitis a week and a half ago, and i had swollen lymph nodes in my left neck, severe back pain accompanied with a mild fever (100 C). I was prescribed with antibiotics for 5 days as well, which calmed the fever down but didn't do much for the discomfort in my throat. After this, i was prescribed with a stronger antibiotic, but unfortunately, the infection spread to my right tonsil and now the pain is more than before. I am on day 4 of my antibiotic course, and i have no fever or back pain. Lymph nodes are still swollen, but i feel like they're going down slowly. The pus around my tonsils is not better tho. Tomorrow i have another appointment, and i might get injectable antibiotic to treat this one.

Finally, my last doctor advised me to go for intravenous antibiotics… 2 doses. Exactly 24 hours after the day I went to the hospital for the IV, the white stuff (puss) reduced by 50%. By the second dose it was completely gone!
Went to the doctors after 3 days of strep, no sleep, constant pain, fever, no food or water, couldt swallow. And no cough what's so ever. Legit bacterial infection I got a steroid shot and a antibiotic shot in the glute cheeks. After 2 hours I started sweating profusely, laid it out and then shortly after started coughing up all sorts of mucus.... Pain subsided and I was able to sip water again.... Even my kidney pain and fever went down Now I have a bad taste in my throat. I think I formed blisters and they popped cause blood and pus was coming up later that day... I felt nearly 85% better 12 hours after getting the shot. However I'm wide awake at 4am am my butt still hurts and I got a bad taste in my throat hahahah much better trade off from strep.... I have lingual tonsillitis and have been taking zinnat for 7 days and then 4 more days and it's not really getting better. A friend who is a doctor suggested taking another antibiotic. The doctor didn't want to prescribe a new one. Suggested I take another antiviral though I clearly have pus in my lingual tonsils. I can't swallow most solid foods. Not because of pain, because I can't, food comes back or little bits remain on my tongue or in my throat, it's a nightmare. If zinnat keeps not working tomorrow I will start taking azitromicin but why is it so hard to treat a strep throat 👀 i'm at wits end and honestly have considered being hexed 😂
@@lyalya6822 hello ! yes ! it was in fact thrush ! but the first doctor I saw didn't diagnose it correctly. I got much better after taking specific medication for getting read of the yeast infection and significantly lowered the amount of sugar, carbs and lactose I was consuming for a couple of weeks/months.

I have acute pharyngitis and coughing but no fever and my nose are blocked. Last October, I suffered from a two-week bacterial tonsillitis and my doctor gave me only clindamycin. This November, I am suffering from Bacterial Tonsillitis again. I don’t feel like going to the doctor again as he might prescribe antibiotics again 😢
I think clindamycin is the best to go for real. Even the cheapest generic killed it in just a day. The last attack was in July. I tried not to take antibiotics but I just couldn’t take the pain so I opted for it again… But of course I still had to finish the 7-day treatment.
Over Thanksgiving holiday I had a really bad sore throat had swollen tonsil with white spots and I kept coughing up phlegm…my ear was like an infection and it was super hard to swallow my own saliva. Today, my doctor prescribed me Doxycycline Hydrate 100. I notice the swollen part going down a tab bit but the ears and pain in my throat hasn’t changed. I’m going to give it a few days!!!
Update after 3 days of taking the Doxycycline I can truly say I feel great. I will continue to take my antibiotics with lots of water because that was horrible!!!

I have this, literally exact same symptoms but I’ve had it for 5 days now and it’s progressively gotten worse even while taking Amoxicillin. I even spoke to my doctor over the phone and he prescribed Benzonatate for my throat irritation. It has helped with nothing, I’m still barely getting enough liquid and food but they haven’t given me anything for the pain. I’ve been sick for a month straight, I had the flu (for 2 weeks) which caused me to get sinusitis (currently 2 weeks) (which I still have and am taking medicine for) and then I had a Gastritis/GERD flare up that left my throat in shambles and covered in a horrible layers and bumps of yellow and white pus. (This last week) in total I have been sick for 4 weeks straight, which isn’t surprising because I am very very delicate and get sick nearly every month and even have bad reactions to vaccines and just overall have very bad health (even though I don’t live an unhealthy lifestyle). I don’t know what to do, I’m in such pain, I haven’t slept more than 2-3 hours every night since a couple of days ago. My joints have started to hurt. I feel like I’m dying and there’s no one trying to help. I really hope I start seeing results because I can’t afford a hospital visit

@Sabrina Abrahimy yes, I was told by my ENT I had oral thrush and got anti fungals. I never knew antibiotics can cause oral thrush. I feel better now 😌

I had a sore throat that just wouldn’t go away after a week. My lymph node with swollen and my left tonsil was also swollen. Doctor gave me antibiotics and i felt better THAT SAME NIGHT. 100% better i was so happy.
It's going on a year and half of fire up my throat to infection to repeat to dry and red. Been on omeprazole 2 40s a day also 2 other antiacids, and still nothing. Now levofloxacin. Starting it this evening 7 500s for 7 days I believe. I hope this gets rid of it. I don't taste acid or anything from my stomach. It feels like it gets rawest in bottom of throat at top of chest. The red never left but but 3 months it didn't bother me then came back in may witch is same month it hit the year before. Had a light ran with a scope. They say acid but I really don't think it is.
For years I had chronic problems they called too much acid. Burned my esophagus, had chronic bronchitis, etc. They had me on acid reducers which gave minimal relief, and there are problems with them, too. It was only after I began taking high quality probiotics that it stopped. The only time I get that feeling now is when I’ve taken Advil (or anti-inflammatories) for more than a few doses/days.
@@t.brooks5082 just got off a week of strong antibiotics. Before it felt like it was slowly getting better. After those not sure if they are exactly what helped it has felt almost normal 2 days. I'll check probiotics if it comes back. It went away for a month or 2 I think it was after antibiotics also is why Dr tried it again. What's weird is antiacids don't seem to help. 2 40 omep a day. It's so had I haven't went back to a day job. But the past 2 days has been great. I'll be working part-time if its like this a few weeks from. Thanks for info. I knew I wasn't the only one. Also I don't taste heartburn at all even the one time I got sick from something I eat.
@@johnathanbeats Has your doctor tested you for H. Pylori (helicobacter pylori)? That's a gut bacteria which can cause imbalance of good/bad bacteria. I was treated for that with a regimine of antibiotics & antacids which helped improve some of it. If your stomach improved after antibiotics, it sounds like that may be part of the issue. However, the antibiotics can also kill off the good bacteria so MAKE SURE you get a quality probiotic asap if you haven't already. One of the ones I've liked is Garden of Life Critical Care. It has 80 billion CFU, & 15 probiotic strains. It has made a world of difference for me. Another thing that I've liked better than acid blockers has been papaya tabs. I get a weird and very peculiar set of symptoms every year in the month of october or november. I get a cold and a sore throat. My nose keeps leaking with very thin and watery mucus and i can't swallow my saliva. I also keep drooling continuously due to which i can't sleep. It is not painful. And no fever even. I really wonder what is the cause of my sore throat. I wish we had some good antiviral medications for this condition.
My son has had strep like symptoms for a few weeks now. He tested positive for strep. After 6 days of treating it with amoxicillin, he showed no improvement, was tested again and still tested positive for strep. We are now using cefdinir. Should we be worried the amoxicillin didn't do the job? Thanks.

There are tests for strep throat for this exact reason - it shouldn’t be a guessing game in the first place. I recently had a fever of under 100 with no white spots/pus. I was later confirmed to have strep throat and antibiotics cleared me right up. But based on this criteria, I wouldn’t “qualify” for the treatment I needed? Silly.
Everything that this Dr. Said in this video happened to me. They tested me for strep and it was negative. So she said would just prescribe antibiotics. Which now after watching this video I realize how much of a crap shoot guess that was. Here I am now, having had this sore throat for 3 weeks but after the antibiotics during week 1 the sore throat has INTENSIFIED so much!! It's painful and irritated and mucus-y. If I would have seen this video first, I would have asked the nurse if she really thinks it is a bacterial infection or if it's just a viral infection. From watching this. A few other YT Drs, I now know that majority of these sore throats are viral infections. Apparently that's what I have because it's still here and the antibiotics have only intensified it because now the bacteria in my body has fought against it more. Everything he said in this video was valid and necessary. If antibiotics worked for you, then your sore throat must have been the bacterial one, but it's not as cut and dry as 'You don't have strep, so here's some antibiotics'.
@@thelovelyvalc I'm sorry you had to go through that, but that doesn't discredit what I said. You tested negative for strep, so why you were still prescribed antibiotics is beyond me. I never said every sore throat should get strep, but that "there are tests for strep throat for this exact reason - it shouldn’t be a guessing game in the first place."
If you test positive, you should get antibiotics. If you test negative, you shouldn't.

I love your videos but let's face it... there is no normal access to doctors in the UK. You talk about watching over the next 48hrs but then you must book another appointment which at best woudl be in a week.
Completely agree, in the UK the average wait could be up to 2-3 weeks. We are atm just overwhelmed with appointments and not enough docs, unfortunately.
Lucky if you get antibiotics off the doc now you can go three months with a bacterial chest infection and then...you will get them meanwhile you suffer 3 months

If the patient presents to you with symptoms that started within the last 48 hours why not do a simple strep test if their score is over two? Why would you risk them having untreated strep throat when a very simple test could tell you? Not hating or judging, genuinely curious.
Great question, I know some countries work with this system and it sounds great, in the UK we dont have access to immediate strep tests so we do this scoring system which has a good level of accuracy.

Okay so i was diagnosed with tonsilitis a week and a half ago, and i had swollen lymph nodes in my left neck, severe back pain accompanied with a mild fever (100 C). I was prescribed with antibiotics for 5 days as well, which calmed the fever down but didn't do much for the discomfort in my throat. After this, i was prescribed with a stronger antibiotic, but unfortunately, the infection spread to my right tonsil and now the pain is more than before. I am on day 4 of my antibiotic course, and i have no fever or back pain. Lymph nodes are still swollen, but i feel like they're going down slowly. The pus around my tonsils is not better tho. Tomorrow i have another appointment, and i might get injectable antibiotic to treat this one.

I had to take oral antibiotics for 3 week straight. I went to theee doctors and they prescribed medicines for 5 days, and I saw no improvement.

Went to the doctors after 3 days of strep, no sleep, constant pain, fever, no food or water, couldt swallow. And no cough what's so ever. Legit bacterial infection
I got a steroid shot and a antibiotic shot in the glute cheeks. After 2 hours I started sweating profusely, laid it out and then shortly after started coughing up all sorts of mucus.... Pain subsided and I was able to sip water again.... Even my kidney pain and fever went down

I have lingual tonsillitis and have been taking zinnat for 7 days and then 4 more days and it's not really getting better. A friend who is a doctor suggested taking another antibiotic. The doctor didn't want to prescribe a new one. Suggested I take another antiviral though I clearly have pus in my lingual tonsils.
I can't swallow most solid foods. Not because of pain, because I can't, food comes back or little bits remain on my tongue or in my throat, it's a nightmare.
If zinnat keeps not working tomorrow I will start taking azitromicin but why is it so hard to treat a strep throat 👀

@@lyalya6822 hello ! yes ! it was in fact thrush ! but the first doctor I saw didn't diagnose it correctly. I got much better after taking specific medication for getting read of the yeast infection and significantly lowered the amount of sugar, carbs and lactose I was consuming for a couple of weeks/months.

I have acute pharyngitis and coughing but no fever and my nose are blocked. I think clindamycin is the best to go for real. Even the cheapest generic killed it in just a day. The last attack was in July. I tried not to take antibiotics but I just couldn’t take the pain so I opted for it again… But of course I still had to finish the 7-day treatment.

Over Thanksgiving holiday I had a really bad sore throat had swollen tonsil with white spots and I kept coughing up phlegm…my ear was like an infection and it was super hard to swallow my own saliva. Today, my doctor prescribed me Doxycycline Hydrate 100. I notice the swollen part going down a tab bit but the ears and pain in my throat hasn’t changed. I’m going to give it a few days!!!
Update after 3 days of taking the Doxycycline I can truly say I feel great. I will continue to take my antibiotics with lots of water because that was horrible!!!

I have this, literally exact same symptoms but I’ve had it for 5 days now and it’s progressively gotten worse even while taking Amoxicillin. I even spoke to my doctor over the phone and he prescribed Benzonatate for my throat irritation. It has helped with nothing, I’m still barely getting enough liquid and food but they haven’t given me anything for the pain. I’ve been sick for a month straight, I had the flu (for 2 weeks) which caused me to get sinusitis (currently 2 weeks) (which I still have and am taking medicine for) and then I had a Gastritis/GERD flare up that left my throat in shambles and covered in a horrible layers and bumps of yellow and white pus. (This last week) in total I have been sick for 4 weeks straight, which isn’t surprising because I am very very delicate and get sick nearly every month and even have bad reactions to vaccines and just overall have very bad health (even though I don’t live an unhealthy lifestyle). I don’t know what to do, I’m in such pain, I haven’t slept more than 2-3 hours every night since a couple of days ago. My joints have started to hurt. I feel like I’m dying and there’s no one trying to help. I really hope I start seeing results because I can’t afford a hospital visit

Just went to my pcp and got prescribed amoxicillin for strep. I just thought I had a sore throat due to allergies but now I realize my symptoms hit 4/5 criteria for a bacterial infection.

It's going on a year and half of fire up my throat to infection to repeat to dry and red. Been on omeprazole 2 40s a day also 2 other antiacids, and still nothing. Now levofloxacin. Starting it this evening 7 500s for 7 days I believe. I hope this gets rid of it. I don't taste acid or anything from my stomach. It feels like it gets rawest in bottom of throat at top of chest. The red never left but but 3 months it didn't bother me then came back in may witch is same month it hit the year before. Had a light ran with a scope. They say acid but I really don't think it is.
For years I had chronic problems they called too much acid. Burned my esophagus, had chronic bronchitis, etc. They had me on acid reducers which gave minimal relief, and there are problems with them, too. It was only after I began taking high quality probiotics that it stopped. The only time I get that feeling now is when I’ve taken Advil (or anti-inflammatories) for more than a few doses/days.

I'll check probiotics if it comes back. It went away for a month or 2 I think it was after antibiotics also is why Dr tried it again. What's weird is antiacids don't seem to help. 2 40 omep a day. It's so had I haven't went back to a day job. But the past 2 days has been great. I'll be working part-time if its like this a few weeks from. Thanks for info. I knew I wasn't the only one. Also I don't taste heartburn at all even the one time I got sick from something I eat.
@@johnathanbeats Has your doctor tested you for H. Pylori (helicobacter pylori)? That's a gut bacteria which can cause imbalance of good/bad bacteria. I was treated for that with a regimine of antibiotics & antacids which helped improve some of it. If your stomach improved after antibiotics, it sounds like that may be part of the issue. However, the antibiotics can also kill off the good bacteria so MAKE SURE you get a quality probiotic asap if you haven't already. One of the ones I've liked is Garden of Life Critical Care. It has 80 billion CFU, & 15 probiotic strains. It has made a world of difference for me. Another thing that I've liked better than acid blockers has been papaya tabs. I wish you the best in your healing journey!

I get a weird and very peculiar set of symptoms every year in the month of october or november. I get a cold and a sore throat.
